Hello, I am in Florida and got this lease offer for a 2017 A3.

A3 Premium FWD with convenience package sedan.

    36 MONTHS 10k miles a year.
    MSRP 37,880.00
    Residual: 48%
    Money Factor: 0.00005
    Selling Price: 29,989.00
    Total Cap Reduction: 0.70
    Capped Fees: 1,693
    Taxes: 833.62
    ADJ CAP COST: 31,681.30
    Due at signing: 1,292.00
    Monthly Payment: 377.46 plus tax.

    What are the capped fees?

Im currently in a 15' Jetta GLI SEL, lease end is January 1st. I will be about 10,000 miles over the allotted amount. Residual to buy is about 19,000 plus tax and the car is only worth about 16,000. Originally paid $15,000 over the 3 year lease. Weighing my options.
    I appreciate the advice.

    I appreciate the help.

    Thank you very much!

The capped fees include the $895 AFS acquisition fee. Since you are in Florida, I'll guess that the rest is a big honking $798 dealer fee.
The tax number is just informational, as taxes are collected on the monthly payment in Florida.
The money factor and residual are correct.
    The payment is also correct.

If those two fees are capped, then my question would be: What accounts for $1292 due at signing, since the first payment is complimentary from AFS?

I'll send the sales rep an email to inquire about what the money down entails. As for my current lease do you have any advice on what should be done their?

    thank you
How much do you like your GLI?

You'll have $2000-2500 of mileage charges at the end of the lease, compared to an estimated $3000 equity hit if you buy it out.

The mileage charge you'll have to come up with if you turn the car in. The negative equity can be rolled into the next lease - though, we don't recommend that.

What is the payoff today, and the present trade in value?

Payoff today would be $20,433.05 plus tax and whatever else the dealer will charge to complete the transaction.
According to Edmunds the trade in value today would be $16,000.

Ugh - not a real great set of choices. No real advantage to any of them, though we tend to recommend folks ride out the lease instead of terminating early.

If you ride out the lease, you are out $2000 extra dollars. I wouldn't count the lease payments, because you are getting to drive the car. If it's $3000-$4000 to trade out now, then don't do it.

    .00015 MF and 50% residual

Looks like they've added .00050 to the money factor, in exchange for waiving the $895 acquisition fee. That's almost a wash, but would actually save you about $1/mo, by capitalizing the fee and taking the lower MF.

The selling price looks decent, taking into account $2000 of incentives on this model (plus the complimentary 1st payment. $595 dealer conveyance fee seems excessive.

You could add AudiCare maintenance program for $699.. That bumps the residual by 1%, and only adds about $10-$11 to this payment.

That is likely the most detailed lease quote I've seen posted on these boards, for any make.

The math is correct, to the penny.

But, the MF is marked up from the base of .00015, which adds about $27/mo to your payment.

Be polite and tell them you won't sign that deal, as is, with the inflated MF. They know the base rate.

However, be prepared to give up some of the discount from sticker you got, in return. You'll have to run the numbers both ways (base MF and smaller discount, or inflated MF and bigger discount) to see which results in the better payment.

Still, kudos to the dealer for the disclosure.

One last suggestion - add the 'conveyance fee' to the total cap cost and make it part of your payment. Reduces your out of pocket to just the tax and registration costs, but bumps your payment up to about $464/mo (with the marked up MF)

Got it - yes, the MF is bumped .00050 if the acquisition fee is waived.

    All looks good, then.

    Hi,

Can somebody help me understand the following pieces? It looks like the acquisition fee and doc.license are not rolled up to the cap cost.

That totals about $1313. Add first months payment of about $400 gets to $1713. I'm trying to understand the $1824.96 and the initial payment of $1825.30. I believe the Customer cash of $898 has to include first month's payment.

Because of the way the $500 conquest and first months' payment. It has to show me putting at least that much down right in order for everything to populate in the system. I was trying to roll up all the costs into the lease but at least I should be able to roll the $898 cash due right? or a portion of that less first months payment

    Thanks

Looks like the dealer manipulated the numbers to hit the $400 (or so) payment

If I add the acquisition fee and AudiCare to the selling price, the cap cost becomes $36,466.

First payment, doc fee and license fee ($429 + $80 + $338 = $847) would be due at signing; pre-tax payment would go to about $429/mo with tax.

    Hi,

what about out this one? They say I don't have to put anything down but just pay first months payment of $393. Is that how this reads?

im concerned about item 25 of amount due at start and how that all gets factored in.

    Thanks

    @kyfdx

It's a little complicated. It's going to be registered in Texas and that is why the tax is roughly 6.25%. I am buying it in California and they contacted texas to make sure things look right.

2017 Audi A3 Quattro Premium with 36 / 7500. I'm just concerned about what the "Amount due at start" means. They told me I will have no money down and no first payment and the 393.24 will be my first payment one month from now

At the end they might have moved some money around here and there but when I calculate it straight as if I leased in texas with everything rolled into the payments, I get 407.27 a month. This assume tax is on audicare as well with a $29,892 sells price

There are $2000 of incentives plus complimentary 1st payment rebate.... so, the incentives/rebates are covering the amount due at start.
Usually, you can see that on the computer screenshot, but maybe it's on the next page.

I think the amount due at start equates to the following - $1500 marketing incentive, $500 conquest - first months payment 393.24 and license fee of 121.50. The total of those is 2,514.74 which the dealer is using to mak

I was figuring it out similarly as well. $1500 marketing + $500 conquest + $393.24 first months + license fee 121.50 adds up to 2,514.74

Thanks. I really appreciate. Just a follow up: are there any requirements on the marketing allowance? I am assuming this is different than the loyalty/conquest rebate. I tried to find some advertising about this allowance on the internet, but didn't find anything so far.

It is different - it is an incentive to lower the price of the car. Factory to dealer, so assume any price quote you get already includes it. Use the knowledge to make your best deal.

Hi! Can you give me the September 2017 MF/Residual for a 2018 A3 Quattro 2.0 TFSI Premium Plus for 36/10k lease? This is in New York (NYC suburb). I will use "autopay" for the lease, if that makes a difference. Thanks!

    .00015 MF and 50% residual

Your math is correct, but the paperwork doesn't disclose sales tax, DMV fees or dealer fees.

Ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and an itemization. I'd say $50/mo. for all that is going to be about right.

Ok so as I understood is charging me the taxes that he didn't mentions on the paper monthly , adding that $50 more monthly? cause I'm not giving them any money down that will cover these taxes?

Thanks! Is that $1500 marketing allowance also on the FWD? We are in negotiations for and debating between the FWD and the Quattro.
