Leaving the trade out of the discussion, those prices work out to a payment of $299/mo before tax.

Your quote is awfully high compared to that.

Ask the dealer what the adjusted cap cost is - that will take into account the negative equity and other fees and taxes that you aren't paying up front.

I get $511/mo with those numbers, too.

Besides the $5300 of negative equity, what else is there that takes the selling price from $26K to $35K? Almost $4000 to bridge (taxes and fees, is my guess, but have the dealer break it down).

Any way you can wait to pull the trigger on a deal until you are less upside down - or, better yet, right side up?

I will be shopping a few other dealers. No way I will be paying over 500 a month.

.00195 and 58% are correct for 36/12.

The lease cash is separate from the loyalty incentive.

What exactly does the MF posted here mean? Is it what I should expect from the dealer after haggling, or the lowest possible MF for a person with good credit? I was quoted .00320 MF for a 36/10k lease on a 2017 Golf GTI SE, which is pretty awful in comparison. Thanks for your help.

The MF we quote is for top tier credit. Dealers are allowed to mark it up for extra profit.

Be polite and tell them you won't sign any deal with an inflated MF. They know what the base rate is.

You'll have to check with a dealer for the residual reduction for the extra 9000 miles.

36 months is the best term.

Assuming $2000 is the total amount due at signing?
If so, I get an approx adjusted CAP cost of $28,280
That results in a payment of $410.79

For a rough estimate, that's pretty close.
Not a cheap car to lease.
To get lower, you need a lower selling price.
