A dealer is stating her best deal is with financing, not leasing...that they would forfeit some (undisclosed) rebates with a lease. Sounds like a steaming pile of feces to me...
What say you guys? Ever hear of such?

It's entirely possible that there is a promotion going on whereby the salesman gets a spiff for selling cars, not leasing them.

Which dealer is this? Lots of VW dealers in Denver; I got my Jetta from McDonald, and they were very easy to work with.

The dealer does get a $500 incentive for finance and nothing for lease, that's true.

And also, 0% financing for up to 60 months.

If you can afford the $500+ payment, I'd definitely purchase over lease.

Hi First post ever! I would like to know the money factor and residual value on a 2017 gti autobahn with dsg. I live in Illinois. Right now Im negotiating with 2 dealers. One dealer is at 30,465 and the other is 29,750. I would be doing 10k/for 36 months. Hope to year from someone soon!

I'm Located in Austin, TX (this sucks because I'm only temporary here for year and half but here you paid the full taxes upfront instead on the lease payment like FL)

The MSRP is $36,875.

The internet sales guy gave me a agreed price of $30,875; but he didn't have any information on the RV or MF or I should say he didn't want it to give it to me over the phone he want me to come in.

just trying to calculate a Lease Payment? before I head over there or if is worth leasing it right now they have .9% APR my last 3 cars has been leased.

Sticker $36,435 leasing to me at a starting cost of $33,200. Monthly lease is $422 for 36 months/12K a year. MF is .00060 and residual 55%. Buying in NJ but live in NY and therefore taxes are 8.875%. Putting 2,500 out-of-pocket to cover taxes (1,432), MV (300), documentation (495) and first month payment. Bank charge is $625. This is our 3rd GTI in a row so I'm not sure what loyalty breaks I should be getting (or they are pocketing).

Lastly, is it true dealer gets $2,500 from VW if the car is sold versus leased. They said they don't get it if leased.

Excellent point Michaell on the excess out of pocket. I was burned very badly on an A6 that was destroyed in in Hurricane Sandy for putting down too much including a $5K cap cost reduction

Apologies on the price questions but can you opine on the MF of .00060, residual of 55% on a 12k/36 month, $442/mo. on the GTI/Autobahn priced at 33,200. Are these in the ballpark?

I never lease. Is MF money factor? How and where is it used? How is RV used, against the sticker price or something else? I figure it 99% of the posts in the "recent discussions" tab are leasing I should learn enough to understand what I'm reading and since I like GTI's I figured this was a good place to ask.

Thank you very much. A local dealer quoted with the correct Residual (55% for 10k), but used .00232 for the MF. Anything I can go back to them with? Or try a different dealer.

Politely tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF has been marked up. They know what the base rate is.

Apparently, there is enough demand for the GTI that the marketing folks agreed to let the finance guys raise the MF, this month.

Be advised, those prices may not be valid for a lease. Leasing and buying have difference incentives.
