Yup that is a 1954 Buick Skylark. The '54 was built on a shorter WB Century chassis. It's predecessor in 1953 (the first "Skylark") was on the longer Roadmaster chassis.
The Skylarks along w the Caddy Eldorado were high-ticket items designed to attract buyers looking for the styling excitement of the GM concept cars.
I saw one of these close-up when a neighbor's son who worked in the movies drove it out from California to our modest Queens neighborhood. It blew my 11 y/o mind. FYI his name was Leo Gordon and he had a decades long career as an actor and producer. You might recall him as a recurring character in The Rockford Files named Charles Martel.
You forgot the Olds Fiesta, which didn't sell very well in '53.
I remember Leo V. Gordon as I am a big fan of The Rockford Files. Charlie Martell was Jim's go-to tough-guy bodyguard-for-hire who always seemed to get beaten up himself.
First post with the new system and it seems... odd. It sticks extra line breaks in between returns and shows earlier parts that I didn't copy in the quote. Hope these are settings that can be changed going forward.
Yup, I did forget the Olds Fiesta but they only sold about 150 in 53. It featured wraparound glasslike the Eldo but the 'Lark didn't get that until 1954.
Yup, they need to fix the paragraph thing and I can't get the pic download thing to work. Sometimes you should leave well enough alone. I hate it when they make changes that give you fancy features like more emojis but mess up the basics. Why isn't there one for MAD!?
I just discovered trying to reply to you that on an iPad you can only quote the entire post because you can’t highlight random text on screen like you do on a PC. Just another miss. The problem in my opinion is that they chose the wrong software a few years ago when they did the last big switchover. Vanilla Forums is used for software developer groups, gaming types, technical support groups and corporate forums. Not so much for less engaged members of the general public like us who just want to talk every now and then, and the awkward user interface reflects that.
It seems to have been created by 5 tech guys named Moe and relies on volunteers from the customer base to write a lot of the customization and extensions. Apparently what you get when you buy it is very basic stuff that usually needs a lot of customization. The techie customer base support people love it because it is like a big techie toolbox to play with. The company releases new versions every few months and what happens then is that some of those extra things they didn’t write themselves break. I’d guess that is what happened here. If you read the discussion group that Vanilla itself runs for their tech support customers you see a lot of users reporting the same issues we experienced here with login problems, unpredictable malfunctions, bad line spacing and the like. The response from the Vanilla people is a lot of “Yeah, I guess we should do that”, “No, we’re not going to do that right now” and “We’re hoping to get around to that real soon” from the company in response to problem reports. Not very confidence-inspiring.
That's where I found it. I got my license in 1979, and would drive Sunset Blvd quite a bit. Was always nice to stop at Tower Records and pick up a few cassettes.
Great photos, and certainly a trip down memory lane.
Getting pics placed properly with text is a pain now. I gave this one 2 returns before hitting the photo icon and it still stuck the pic above my text the first time. I deleted it and did it the same way again and this time it behaved. Flaky.
Is that your E46? Love that red interior! And, sport package wheels.
Yup, that's my 2001 BMW 330ci/E46. I've owned some attention getting cars (GTO Convertible, 5.0 Mustang 'vert) but this car gets by far the most attention of anything I've had and I attribute that to the color combo. Red interiors were popular from the 50s to the 70s but for some reason they are seldom ordered any more.
One other thing I noticed. If someone posts a picture, and someone else replies, rather than inserting the picture from the original post it inserts the hyperlink. If you click the hyperlink to look at the picture, it overlays the posting stream and when you go back it returns you to the end of the stream rather than to the place you left off.
Would it be snarky for me to mention that there is a word in German, Verschlimmbesserung, that is defined as an improvement that makes things worse?

When I met my girlfriend (promoted to wife shortly thereafter) she had a T-Bird like that. A '78 with a 400 ci. It wasn't exactly fast, but it went over Tejon Pass between So Cal and No Cal without seeming to notice (in marked contrast to my diesel Rabbit, which made that task an exercise in patience and scenery appreciation). We drove it everywhere, allowing a generous budget for gas but with no problems and considerable comfort. We finally gave it to her son, who drove it for a while and then had his girlfriend miss the ashtray with a cigarette butt and not notice. It ended up burned to the ground. Terrible end for a good and faithful car.

I know I have mentioned it before, those T-Birds are kind of a guilty pleasure. Not sure where it comes from - my 2nd grade teacher had one, and I liked her, maybe partially because of that. I also think the angularity of the design works, and I prefer it to the downsized GM personal lux coupes of the same era. It's gotta be equipped right though - I have seen base ones with a very plain cloth and no accessories - looked cheap. I've also seen a loaded T-tops example with a 400 (I think) and leather, not bad.
Looking at the pic again, in the traffic moving away from the camera , left lane, I see the rear of a then-new 79 Mustang, and what looks like a MB W116 in front of it.
Yeah, hers/ours was a 'Town Landau'. Not the top trim level ('Heritage'?) which had more bling, but hers was loaded; A/C, power seat, power windows, cruise, and so on. The upholstery was a very nice velour.

Return is set to paragraph mode
So automatically leaves a blank line.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
There is no other mode to write in the box with that I can see?
EDIT It didn't do it this time so I am stumped what it did the first time.
EDIT #2: it looks like using an asterisk and then typing something and then another asterisk gives you italics for some reason.
Edit #3: I editied edit #2 to take out the asterisks which are invisible when you go to edit and they are still putting italics in somehow.
2017 Cadillac ATS Performance Premium 3.6
When you hit return it leaves a blank line automatically. Like starting a new paragraph.
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
Well, yes. That was what I wanted to do. So why am I getting two of them?

You hit it twice?
like this?
2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
Nope. It did it in another post on another board just now too.
2017 Cadillac ATS Performance Premium 3.6
Yep, carriage return separates the new paragraph with a double space
As far as I know the only way to bold or italics is to highlight the text n then you see the tools
And of course, as I post that, I find you can use keyboard shortcuts
ctrl b for bold ctrl b again to toggle off
ctrl i for italics ctrl i again to toggle off
Typing an asterisk seems to result in italics as well.
*EDIT: I tried and it didn't work this time. Did earlier.
Honestly, this seems even flakier than the other way. Can we go back?

That side stripe is a big hint - a 6 cyl Sprint.
1966 Pontiac Le Mans.
Yup it's a 1966 Pontiac LeMans Sprint with a 3.8 liter SOHC inline six. There was also a Firebird Sprint w the six (MY 67-8 IIRC)
The Sprints were plagued with problems.
