    Just a SWAG, Nissan Cedric?
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
    Nissan President 1973-8 or so.
  • bumpybumpy Member Posts: 4,425
President it is, but the rectangular quad headlights make it an '82-89.

    This is the '73:

At least I had the brand right.

The design didn't change much at all for a very long time, then.
  • magnettemagnette Member Posts: 4,234
Fair enough - the only time I've seen a Nissan President here was about eight years ago, and it would have been a more recent model so I wasn't too sure about the fine details. I was warned off after photographing the one I saw, at the back of the Japanese embassy in London - guy from their embassy security, and one from our Special Branch, couldn't believe I would innocently want to photograph a boring looking saloon, unless I wanted to cause trouble.....( and I always thought I had an honest looking face...)
Saw a couple in Japan two years ago, but again they were either Government cars or Yakusa, and neither appeared keen to have their picture taken...

1969-70 Valiant (Australia) VF. Possibly a Regal or VIP.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
    Yep, it's a '70 Chyrsler (Australia) Valiant.

I was sure somebody would jump in and call it a Dodge Dart. Curiously in Oz the Dart was badged a
    Plymouth. :confuse:

    Healey BN-1 or BN-2 100-4?

It's a very early car. Where's the front bumper?

Not enough detail to tell if it's a 100M, or a phony 100M made out of a BN2.

To really know, one would have to count (and measure) the louvres on the hood, and match the serial number on the hood with the commission # on the chassis ID plate. Lots of phony 100Ms out there. (buyer beware!)

it's definitely not a 100S, despite lacking a front bumper.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
Yup just a '56 Healey 100/4 with the windshield and bumpers removed.

    Studebaker Silver Hawk.

Too bad it's not as restrained & timeless as their earlier coupes.
  • lemkolemko Member Posts: 15,261
Looks like they copied the front end from a 1973 Plymouth Fury.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
It's a'62 Hawk, dunno if that's a Silver or Golden Hawk.

Well yeah it was sold here as a Corolla GTS/SR-5 but in the JDM it was the Toyota Sprinter Trueno (1983-87, sorry Kyfdx!). Either way it's popularly known as the AE86.

    Sure it's a '62 Hawk? Looks more like a '58.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
Definitely not a '62 Hawk. They made the finned ones up to '61 however.
  • texasestexases Member Posts: 11,134
You are correct, sir - this looks like the same car, a '61

My bad, pic must've been mislabeled. The '62-'64 cars had only vestigal fins and were known as Gran Turismo Hawks. Here's what they looked like from behind>

That is an Opel badge, so I'm guessing it's the Astra, which will be sold here in the States under the Saturn brand.
  • imidazol97imidazol97 Member Posts: 27,691
The red car under the sign behind the Rambler wagon looks like a Dodge 1955 Coronet. I recall the eyebrow chrome on the hood but had to look up the year.

If you look closely at the '62 Hawks, you can see the "hat-trick" that Studebaker did. Basically they used the same body panels from the earlier hawks and even some parts from pre-hawks, and added a different hood, a "T-Bird" roof and some trunk trim. They got a very nice looking car out on the cheap!

Yep, that's what they're calling in Opel Astra Classic, some will be built in Serbia by Zastava Motors (of Yugo infamy). GM just signed a deal with Zastava so watch your VIN tags when you head for the Saturn dealer :P.

Is this some sort of Egyptian Fiat 128 ? - I know they made this under licence, but I can't remember the name - only relevant Egyptian car I can think of was the Rameses, and that was based on an NSU Prinz, I think.
  • stevedebistevedebi Member Posts: 4,098
Is this from a movie? The building looks a bit like "Used Cars" with Curt Russell, but the cars don't match.

Is this some sort of Egyptian Fiat 128 ?

Wow, I slipped one by Magnette! Actually it is Fiat-based but it has a mixture of Autobianchi Primula and Fiat 124 roots, It's a 1969 Autobianchi A111, the engine is basically a transverse mounted 124/1438cc unit.

Good one - I must admit I haven't ever seen an Autobianchi A111, and I also thought the background looked desert or something, so I thought 'Egypt' and hence my wild guess (the Egyptian Fiat is apparently a Nasr, and they still make a 128 based model, so it wasn't such a daft guess ( just wrong).

    Cunningham C3 ?

Yep, that's a C3 Cabrio ca. 1952. It looks like Vignale did the coachwork as they did the coupe.
