Exactly! There's a strong resemblance between the GT-40 and the Lambo Miura so it's not surprising some make that mistake.
The Mk.III was the street legal version of the GT-40, the round headlights and the wire wheels distinguish it from the race cars.
Mk.I- 289 DOHC (Indy engine) prototype. Mk II- 427, LeMans winners in '66 and '69. Mk III- 289, road car 320 hp Mk IV-427, enhanced long tail aero, won LeMans in '67
not sure which year, but they did have a sprint version that had a fairly powerful OHC straight six, along with performance options (4 speed, disk brakes, hood scopes IIRC). Saw one at a car show once, and it was pretty neat. Seem to recall it was a real tall engine though.
I had a friend in college that had a late '60s Firebird Convertible with the OHC six. How do those models do in pricing compared to other Firebirds of that period?
...correct, it goes to show how popular wagons are in Europe, there are wagon versions of both the Bora (Jetta) and Golf which when transformed into wagons are the same except for the fascia :confuse: .
Good one Shifty, I'd forgotten about the mighty Bluebird Triple S.
1938 Darl Mat roadster. Darl Mats were Peugeots given different bodies in coupe and convertible form. They actually raced at LeMans and won their class, or close to winning it, as I recall.
I'm not sure how many were made but they were certainly not one-offs. I've seen a half dozen or so in my travels so they are around.

I've actually seen a few here in Cedar Rapids, with Mexican plates. Tiny little things. I'm a fan of smaller cars in general, but there's also such a thing as too small.

as well as first year Firebirds, it was replaced in '68 by the 350.
The SOHC Sprint Six was also available in Tempest, LeMans and Firebird models. I test drove a '68 Firebird so equipped once.

Hope you've all seen Dukes of Hazzard. I just saw it yesterday and the race scene with the 1970 Shelby Mustang was awesome.
