If I can regress for a second on the Reatta, I clearly remember ads touting "hand crafted luxury for two". I think that they were all hand assembled but then you looked at it and it had all the exact same parts that every other GM had!! "Who cares if this is the same radio that comes in a Cavalier, it's assembled by hand".

This definately predates my driving years but that was in no way a cheap car.
  • Mr_ShiftrightMr_Shiftright Member Posts: 64,481
I think GM's idea of "hand-assembled" meant working with an air wrench.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yes it is a Maserati, kind of a neat looking one that's been in the shadow of some
other Masers. I'll give youse a hint:: late 70's.

Nope, Meraks have a v-6 amidships, the white car is a front engine RWD V-8.

Looks like a Khamsin...but I ferget....the back window is similar to an Indy...I'd say Khamsin if it's front engine.
  • w9cww9cw Member Posts: 888
    Espada
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Khamsin it is Shifty. It does resemble the Indy from behind but it's more sharp edged and there is a resemblance to the Espada but that's a Lambo.

The rest of you will have to stay after class for a Remedial Maserati Recognition class. :P

8/10 Cord. It is a replcar of the Cord 810, but at 8/10 scale.

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,493
Yeah one of those questionable quality fake Cords probably from the late 60s...I thnik a company called SAMCO made them, Glenn Pray might have too
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
It's a 1970 Glenn Pray car, SAMCO doesn't ring a bell. This one has Chrysler 440 power (RWD!).

I think they called it the 8/10 as Bob suggests.

The SAMCO cars were virtually identical to the Glenn Pray cars, same powertrain too....just an inelegant name

Early Datsun pickup, probably from the early '60s.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, '60 Datsun 1200, I don't think these were imported but a larger engined version wasn't far behind for the US.

    That's REALLY easy.

It's a Chevrolet Optra, sold in the US as a Suzuki Forenza.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
I got it from an Italian website, it is sold there as the Chevy Nubira, so I assumed it was Daewoo-based.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
GM bought what was left of Daeweoo, and builds cars for Suzuki at the GM-DAT plant.

So in a roundabout way, it was a Daewoo, and became a Suzuki and Chevy.

Looks like a Toyota badge on the front, must be a JDM van. I bet those sell well in Asia.

Name? I'll guess Simca, just for kicks.

sorta related, but I have recently been watching reruns of Amazing Race on GSN (my kids got me hooked). Anyway, you see lots of interesting/odd cars in the different countries they pass through.

Funniest thing is the wide variety of taxis they end up in. Some countries have really weird old crap, while others use MB and other nice stuff.

Toyota Siena cabs are starting to show up in NYC which makes sense, they have a lot more room than CVs or even old Checkers. Still the conventional wisdom was that fwds can't hold up to the abuse.

It's a '60. No bullet lights on the top of the rear fins so it's not a '59, and the '61s and later were redesigned.

Name? It's a Toyota Hiace, a popular van sold all over the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

I want to say its a Hyundai
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
And you're right, it is a Hyundai.

Now, about the model name. It shares it's model name with a certain Toyota sold in the US and Canada. Any guesses?

If it were a true Pebble Beach show car, maybe $55,000 is possible. Maybe Liberace or Jane Mansfield or Count Dracula will rise from the grave and buy it, who knows?
  • navigator89navigator89 Member Posts: 1,080
Not Echo....but you've got the correct size, roughly.

It looks like a BMW from the 70s......BMW 2500 perhaps?

Any guesses on #2592? It's a Hyundai, which shares its name with a small Toyota sold in the US and Canada. Echo is not the answer.

Since PF can't even come up with good looking Ferraris anymore it's not surprising their
    Hyundais are ugly.
