Yeah. 'tis a '62 Silver Cloud II DHC. The plain wheel is a contrast to the well-instrumented
    dash.

Looks like they glued everything they could find on there except the handles from the door to the men's room. Yikes!

Wow, kinda looks like a Checker on Halloween night!

No clue as to what it really is.

The Halloween car is indeed one of the last Hudsons, likely a 57 model
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
That's exactly what it is and what a sad end for Hudson which made some of the coolest cars of the early 50s.[click]

That old Hudson has a tri-tone color combo (white black & orange). Tri-tones were popular during th mid '50's. A number of cars offered that kind of paint treatment back then. Thank god the popularity didn't last long.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670

I'm pathetic at anything before the 80s, but I think that's a Mercury Capri?

    Wow.... that is pathetic... ;)

Some Buick or Oldsmobile variation on the Chevelle.... Or possibly, a Canadian version....

    Year? I'd say about '70-'71....

No thanks.... but, that Capri guess (and I can see a little resemblance in the front end) got me thinking I had the whole thing wrong.... I started thinking..."Is this a Ford?"

    Close but it's a '72 and it's not a Gran Sport.

    Not to get confusing...
.. but my first thought was "1970s Ford Capri".
Which was a German-market-only rear driver that I swear looks sorta like it....

Capris were sold here under the Mercury name in the '70s, V6 cars were sourced from Koln (sorry, I can't do that oomlat thing) while four-bangers wre from Dagenham, England.

Boy, you missed a lot of AMerican history growing up in the old country.

Not too long ago someone posted a link to Capri website. Way more info than you ever wanted.

The gen 1 capris were another of my favorites when I was young.

    A Pontiac Firebird, perhaps?
  • lancerfixerlancerfixer Member Posts: 1,284
Andy, are you sure the '72's not a GS? I see the badge on the grille...
The Firebird looks like it might be an '84, '85 or so? It looks like it's some kind of aftermarket/tuner package...are those Camaro rims on it?
  • boomchekboomchek Member Posts: 5,516
Yeah looks like it has the IROC/Z28 rims on it.

Cool paint job. Reminds me of the old AE86 Trueno/Corollas. The wing, however, is hideous. MSE.....Motor Sports Engineering?

Actually I'm not sure but the dealer's ad makes no mention that's it's a GS. You'd think a dealer would want buyers to know that and tell them which motor it has. :confuse: .

Oh, those are definitely Camaro rims on the '83 Pontiac Tran-AM MSE. Yes that's a tuner package from Mecom Racing, Here's the ad.

Yeah... I really liked the Capri...

When I was a teenager, a skycap at the airport had one.... With a bodykit.. the kind that looked like it was bolted on.. Yellow, with black stripes... very cool..

I did see the front end resemblance... even before you posted the picture..

Really, if Mercury had called the Merkur XR4Ti a Mercury Capri, it might have been successful...

Don't really know what it is, but is sure looks great.

I'm guessing it's from a British manufacturer, possibly Jaguar, from the 50s.

The red one doesn't have the hood ornament, the silver one has a hood ornament. The wheels, the front bumper shapes match. But the silver has those awful extra lights on the front.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,670
Yep, it's the Mark One Jag which debuted in 1955 and along with the Alfa 1900TI was the prototype of modern sport sedans as we know them.

The Mk. I can be visually distinguished from the more numerous and better -
known Mk. II by the thicker C-pillar and heavier door surrounds. Unlike the pictured car, Mk.I Jags are generally seen with disc wheels and dog-dish hubcaps.

No it's not a Kia Rio, it's not a Kia at all.

Read the First Drive of the Kia Rio to see what it looks like.

It's a Ford Ikon, which is a sedan, obviously, based on the previous generation Fiesta platform. IIRC they were originally designed in India for their home market, but are now built several places including the Cuautitlan Mexico plant.
