Yes, that MF equates to almost free money for the lease.

My Jetta lease (MF .00005) has a total rent charge of $53 for all 36 months.

So, since the lease is basically free money, I'm looking to bump up to the Wolfsburg edition. The dealer is giving me a quote of $20019, including the $1500 dealer incentive. So, if I do the math right (22415 msrp), that's about $900 off sticker and then the incentive. 

Edmunds price estimate is $20807, which I believe does not include the incentive. Is that correct?  If so, it seems there's another $700 I should be able to get. Does that sound right?

Thanks, I didn't realize that. The good news is that there is a car only 2 hours away that is advertised for $19380. I don't love white, but I think i can use that to negotiate the price lower. Hopefully they'll just match it.

There is no lease cash on the Golf, so it's certainly possible that the incentive is only for financing.

Is there always an acquisition fee on leases? Is there a backdoor way for me to determine if they're marking up the MF? They appear to be going with the residual you've quoted. I always 2nd guess deals!

Yes.. .always an acquisition fee.
Looks like it's probably in your $1100 drive off.
If that total price was the adjusted CAP cost, I get $270/mo.
If tax and state fees are in your price, then the drive-off seems a little high. ($625 acq. + 1st payment)

Ask them what money factor they are using.

Do you know, and can you say, what offers will be available in August? I'm most interested in the Golf Wolfsburg but also the GTI Sport, both with manual transmission. I ask because in speaking to my local dealer's internet salesperson about purchasing vs. leasing they recommended I wait and see what August has in store as far as offers go. I don't want to wait too long though because I'm eligible for the Jetta Pull Ahead program but my payments are due the 3rd of each month. Thank you in advance.

This is the first time I've heard of a salesperson at a dealership tell a potential customer to wait until the next month.

I was very surprised as well but she said, "If you're looking to purchase, I would suggest to see what offers we have launching next month. I can't tell you what's going on but I can assure you it's something you don't want to miss." That was taken directly from an email. Perhaps it's an offer from the dealership itself, this particular dealer has been known to give cruises and TVs to buyers in the past.

Thank you so much for posting in this forum guys. I took advantage of the Jetta Pull Ahead program today and picked up a Golf Wolfsburg. While I was signing all the ppwk I asked what the MF they used was. It wasn't .00001! I think he said they used .00025! Armed with the knowledge you guys shared I was able to shave $9/mo off my payment and save $324 over the life of the lease! Thanks again!

Hi Guys, I see the numbers for 36/10, but what about 36/12 for a Golf Wolfsburg.

Also, I know you guys can't predict, but since you have experience, would you anticipate that September numbers would be similar or better as the end of the model year gets closer? Shouldn't they continue to get better as the 2018s get closer to release? I'm not sure I'll be able to complete the deal this week.

Subtract 1% from the residual to go from 10K to 12K

If I were to guess, I wouldn't expect big changes from August to September. I suppose a lot depends on how much inventory there is, nationwide, and when the 2018's are expected to arrive.

That $1779 is hiding about $50/mo from the payment - true cost is $245/mo

If it were me (and it was, last year, when I leased a Jetta), my only up front cash was the first payment and DMV costs (which are not handled at the dealer, in CO). Everything else was rolled into the monthly payment. And, I'm paying $226/mo, with tax included.
