Ok so I decided to get a production vehicle which will be done exactly when my lease ends. This is the quote I received from my dealer on a 5.40i xdrive M sport.

    MSRP: $69,535
Discount 7% to price of $64,688
    MF: 0.00152
$3,000 in lease and loyalty incentive
    Adj cap cost: $62,593
    Invoice: $65,335

He is taking my current 5.35i as trade in and with tax incentive brings Texas tax down to $1,458 rolled into the monthly lease.

Up front is 1st month and reg/title = about $1100

    $768/mth

This sounded like a good deal to me, can I get some feedback please?

Again thanks to all so far who have chimed in.

    Rich

What lease term and how many miles per year?

I get $724/mo with those numbers.

Confirm the adjusted cap cost and MF used by the dealer for their quote - those are the only two variables.

    Hello mods,

Here's the deal I have received:
    2018 530e -- 36/12k -- California
    MSRP: $65,600
    Selling price: $59,099
    BMW Credit: $2000
    Corporate discount: $500
    MF= .00176
    Total due at signing: $5,000
    Monthly Payment: $621

Thoughts on this deal? I know MF is marked up, but got a pretty significant front end discount. How does this fare compared to other similar offers?

    Thanks!

    10% discount is strong.

Why $5000 up front? You're only renting the car. What does that include?

Wow, how did you get such a lower number?

Did your calculations include extra $1,458 from taxes?

I just used the numbers provided - if the cap cost is different, then yes, the payment would be higher.

Hi - have the April figures been posted yet? If so, what is the MF and residual on a 530e iPerformance in Atlanta, GA? Looking at 36/10. Are the 2k loyalty and 2k lease credits still in effect? Thanks!

Greetings kyfdx and crew. First off, thank you for years of "inside" info and for all the money you've helped us save. I come here every 3 years when it's time for a new lease, and I couldn't do the negotiations without you. So here we are again..... This time I'm looking at a M550 lease in Michigan. Whenever you get the new April numbers, can you give me the MF and the residuals for a 12K and 10K 36 month lease? I assume a 24 or 48 month lease should not be considered?

Thanks again for educating all of us.

    Hi!

I'm looking for the current MF and RV in Northern California - San Jose/SF Bay Area - for 2018 540i 12K/36mo lease...

Will these get better in May/June or worse from a buyer's perspective as I am considering a custom/factory order?

Thank you for your invaluable help in advance

I just got this offer in Miami, FL:

    2018 530e
    36/10
    MSRP: $60,210
    Selling Price: $57,125
    Residual: 61%
    MF: .00156
    Monthly Payment: $713/month before tax

They want $2,500 down to cover first payment, doc fee, and taxes.  The breakdown of the net cap cost shows those same fees added back into the net cap.

First question: Does it make sense to ask them to eliminate the fees from either the down payment or remove them from the net cap cost?  They shouldn't be showing up twice right?

Second question:  I've seen some guidance on this thread recommending a fair target of a 6% discount off of MSRP.  Is that 6% discount after any fees are added back to the net cap?  Or before any fees are added back?

Thanks for all of your help, learning so much on this thread and already seeing how full of sh*t some of these dealers are.

It doesn't look like they're including any of the manufacturer incentives available. AFAIK, there's a $2000 credit for the 530e, and should be a loyalty credit available as well.

Not for nothing, but I'm looking at a similar drive-off and payment for a 530e with an MSRP of $68350 here in Los Angeles (I locked in better incentives in December - $4k off MSRP + $3k lease credit + $2k loyalty + $1k corporate). At a minimum you should find a dealer willing to offer a discount sale price PLUS incentives.

Can someone look at the numbers below? I am not sure if the $3,000 incentive is included in the sales price or if they remove it somewhere after.

When making the deal, I was under assumption of MF 0.00156, residual 61%, and I thought 7% off MSRP. My calculations seem a bit off from theirs.

Hey guys. I just got this email. i bought my 2018 540IX a couple days ago. Do I need to sign a new contract with worse milage terms? Or can I say no.
    Good Morning James;

This is Gary from BMW (Finance Guy who completed your paperwork. I hope everything has worked out with you finding your cat.

I Just received an email from BMW stating that I needed your signature on a new contract. The reason being is because the contract you originally signed said that your mileage overage charge was $.20 per mile and the real charge is $.25 per mile so I have the new contract printed up. Nothing changed with your payment I'll only the mileage overage charge.

I have no problem swinging by after work to grab a signature from you to get this handled as soon as possible. Please let me know if this works for you.

If you leased it, they gave you a rebate, in lieu of the tax credit. The rebate might have even been more than the tax credit.

But, I'll guess the residual on that Ford plug-in was in the 30%-40% range, not a normal residual like you get with the 530e. The BMW has the same residual as on the gas model.

They could add $5K to the rebate, but if they drop the residual by 10%, you'll come out behind.

Keep in mind that the captive financial company (Ford Motor Credit or BMWFS) is actually buying the car from the dealer and agreeing to lease/rent it to you for agreed-upon terms. Whoever buys the car gets the federal rebate. It's then up to them how to use that to subsidize/entice consumers.

When I got my i3 a couple years back, they offered the full $7500 federal rebate as cap cost reduction (will do, I think). Imagine my disappointment when I saw that they've only offered $3k max on the 530e (of the $4668 they're getting from Uncle Sam). Glad I locked that in at the end if December.

As mentioned, the lower MSRP (vs a cheaper-to-produce 530i) and high residual are benefits. They must feel confident in the resale potential of their used plug-in hybrids.

    530i w/ $55,000 MSRP

    Knocked down to $53,000

    0$ money down

    10k Miles / 36 months

    $2000 Rebate
    $1000 loyalty

I was told the money factor was 2.9% so that would be .0012?

I tried to get 7% discount on the MSRP and they told me that they would give me that but that they would have to put the drive off back on and basically it came out to the same as the offer above. Said they would not do 7% off msrp + the royalty + loyalty + 0 down. Is this too much I am asking for?

    530i w/ $55,000 MSRP

    Knocked down to $53,000

    0$ money down

    10k Miles / 36 months

    $2000 Rebate
    $1000 loyalty

I was told the money factor was 2.9% so that would be .0012?

I tried to get 7% discount on the MSRP and they told me that they would give me that but that they would have to put the drive off back on and basically it came out to the same as the offer above. Said they would not do 7% off msrp + the royalty + loyalty + 0 down. Is this too much I am asking for?

The incentive and loyalty cash come from BMW, not the dealers pocket, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I would, however, expect the dealer to try to inflate the MF to claw back some of that discount.

Base MF is .00156, or 3.74%

May I please have the RV and MF for:
    2018 530i xdrive (M Sport Design)
    36/10k
    07604

(It is a loaner car with approx 7,000 miles.... I don't know if this changes the above numbers)
    Thanks

So overall this looks like a pretty good deal? I thought I should maybe be getting more then the $2000 of MSRP

    .00156 and 61%

However, the 7000 miles mean you subtract 4% from the residual AND .25/mile for each mile (another $1750).

    Plus you lose the incentives.

Better be a gigantic discount to make that deal worth while over a new unit.

7% off MSRP, before incentives, is our recommended target.

Is the $2k lease loyalty $1k lease credit from BMW applied to reduce the cap cost or to lower MSRP?

Negotiate your best price, then subtract the incentives.
