Any advice on this quote I received?  I also have USAA and Loyalty credit.   Not planning on making a down payment...only whatever is minimum.
I'd ask for another $600-800 off the sticker price, to start. Up front cash should be just the first payment and registration costs. .00156 and 58% What state is this? That tax amount looks large.
Hello, it is in Texas.  What do U suggest I can get for a monthly payment?   Should I be asking for an additional 5-7% off MSRP too?
If I take out the first payment from the total number on the right hand column, for an adjusted CAP cost of $57,368, I get a payment of $787/mo. Looks like they've marked up the money factor to about .00180. 7% off MSRP would drop the selling price by $700 Couple that with the base money factor, and the payment would drop to about $763/mo. (w/$2000 due at signing).

So, base money factor means the lowest rate?   Would you say $763 is a good payment?

    thank you for responding

    Also the current incentives
    $2k loyalty credit
    $2k USAA

    @bimmerlady

This vehicle has a higher list price than the last one.. by $700
Using the balance as the adjusted CAP, I get $775/mo.
Is it $0 due at signing? Or, is it 1st payment due at signing?

Either way, it's substantially better than the last deal. Higher priced vehicle, and without the $2000 down. And, $19/mo. lower payment

If I use $63,153 as the cap cost (sell price + 6% tax + acquisition fee + processing fee less $4000 rebates), I get $780/mo.

Your quote looks really good, by comparison.

It's priced higher, because it's a different vehicle. MSRP is MSRP. They can't change it.
I'm only $15/mo. under their payment. If they are marking it up, it's not a lot.. Maybe, .00170, instead of .00156.

Any thoughts on this offer I was given by dealer?

    5.40i BMW M-sport
MSRP: 64870 with 8.7% off MSRP making it $59,226
    1000 lease credit
    2000 loyalty credit
    Residual 61%
Money factor 0.00172 (absolute lowest they would go).

    $0 down
At signing - $1100 for first month and registration.

Also will be trading in my 5.35i xdrive with 3 months of lease remaining which they offered to pay off remaining.

And the acquisition fee? Part of the monthly payment?

Do the incentives come off the sale price?

What state and tax rate is this?

Yes the acquisition becomes part of monthly.

I believe incentives were off the sale price.

This is in Dallas, I believe he said 6.5% tax.

Could I have MF/RV for a 2018 M550i 36/12k in Northern Virginia? Thanks, If any incentives that you are aware of that would help.I currently have a 650i coming off lease so I assume there is a loyalty discount there as well...Appreciate it

And the tax is applied to the entire selling price.

The number you need from the dealer is the adjusted cap cost.

Ok so the adjusted net cap cost was $61,655, and the monthly was actually $790.

He mentioned I had a -2500$ equity from my prior lease but gave me a $1700 tax incentive for trade in so my taxes were less. Any good?

Went to another dealer and got this offer as well

    540xi M sport
    36/10k
    Msrp $69125
    Selling $64k
    Rebate $3k
    Mf .00166
    Res 61%
    Cap cost $65906.42
$1000 due at signing (1st mth and reg fee)
    $838/mth
    Invoice $64890

    How is this offer ?

$790 is still a better deal, even if they aren't pulling your existing lease forward.

I guess it's more a question of which car you like better - the $64K one or the $69K one?

Personally I like the 69k one better and this offer is from a dealer I have bought from in the past.

The better question I guess is can I get better pricing on either and where can I get them to go down ?

We recommend you target 7% off MSRP, before applying incentives.

Ok seems I'm at that target for both cars.

Another question, for the 69k one, my dealer moved to become Sales Manager in a different state. He wanted to keep my business and kept in touch with me, and has offered to send me this car free of charge to a dealership of my choice in Dallas.

Is there any hidden fee or should I be surprised by anything if I were to buy with him?

If all you have to do is take delivery and sign the papers, you should be good.

But, what is your local dealer's policy on service loaners, etc? My local dealer doesn't care where you bought your car, but some are territorial.

I don't know I would have to check with both parties. But my dealer used to work local so maybe they'll be ok with it.

I have to sign papers and deliver my old car before the new one arrives?

Why are you being charged for “negative equity” on a lease return?

That is possible, but in Texas they charge Sales Tax on entire sales price, so I was wondering if Dealer was trying to make case that tax benefit on a trade with negative equity is better than simply returning the car. Most can't do it, but on a single payment lease in Texas, you get a reduced money factor and a waiver of the sales tax. The $ savings over lease term is significant.
  • richbmw540richbmw540 Member Posts: 25
Yea it is an early lease return - about 3 months left.

The way he explained it was I owed a certain amount on the car left and that the car itself had a certain current fair market value - I forget the exact numbers but he said the difference left me with negative equity, about -$2,500

As for the tax benefit, he said I was eligible for about $1700, so he calculated about $800 in difference between the two.

If there is no pull ahead program available, why wouldn't you just keep your car for a couple of more months and avoid the "negative equity" altogether? In Texas, they would then give you a trade value equivalent to your residual value.
  • richbmw540richbmw540 Member Posts: 25
Yea that's exactly what I am going to do now. I'm learning all this as I go.

I'm checking to see if any good deals are around at this time.

So I am a little confused. I got a quote on a new 2018 BMW 530e I Performance. MSRP = 57,445, 61% Residual, .00196 MF, 36 mo, 10k miles. It was 549 a month with just first month at signing. Adjust Cap Cost was 47,501. Tax is included in that 549 a month at 8% (GA)

So I then asked the guy what if I pay it upfront (I know the risks). I was thinking 549 a month X 36 = 19,764, might drop 2,500 or so on a one pay. I get that quote back, and it is a one pay of 19,023.44. Looking at the quote, it is a MF of .00166, which make sense, but the Adjusted Cap Cost now says $ 51,205.50. I asked and he said it was calculated the same way, $700 is about right for the savings. It looks like to me the one pay is being based on a $4,000 higher cap cost when I look at the calculators.

    Am I missing anything?

    Let's step back ....

The MF is marked up the max, in both cases. Base MF is .00156, and one-pay would be .00126

No way should the cap cost jump $4000 simply by asking to do a one-pay lease. Somebody's being greedy.

That’s what I was thinking. I guess my question is, do you think the sales guy ran the numbers wrong in the first place? Doesn’t the 47,501 seem low? The one pay shouldn’t by itself drive the cap cost up at all, correct?

We can't see what the salesman put into the computer, so can't really comment if it was right or wrong.

Yes, I agree that the one-pay itself shouldn't affect the cap cost.

The first adjusted CAP cost given is incorrect. If you put that into the calculators, you'll see it only gives you a payment of $508/mo. It's possible that it's the CAP before adding tax.

The second one is also incorrect. As, it wouldn't result in the payment provided.

With only a .00030 drop in MF, $700 is all you would save... that part is correct. I wouldn't bother. $20/mo. to put $19K upfront is not enough for me to do it.

I also wouldn't worry too much about the money factor, if I'm leasing a $57K+ vehicle for $549/mo, all in.
But, I would figure out what's going on with the adjusted CAP

What is MF and residual in NY for 10K and 12K 36 month leases? Also, what are current incentives or pull ahead as I have 2-3 payments left

If I buy from an out of town dealer, does that change? Thanks.

Got you - and you are right about the first payment, it has tax in it. Question, why doesn't the cap cost get reduced in the 1 pay? I talked to the salesman today and he said the 4,000 rebate doesn't reduce the Adj Cap Cost when you do a one pay.

One pay only reduces the money factor... the payments are added up, and the savings is in the finance charges.
Single pay leases have weird rules about where rebates are applied. Part of it is to get the taxable amount right, and other parts are to benefit the bank, not the customer. You still get the rebate, but you also pay finance charges on a higher amount.

It's possible to make a huge CAP cost reduction, almost enough to drop the payment to ZERO, but then your money is at risk. And, bank's generally don't offer that sort of arrangement.

On a BMW, single-pay leases are not worth the savings.

Is that the way most companies calculate a prepaid? Do any do a cap reduction?

Every pre-paid lease program we've seen offers a discount on the MF; why else would you pre-pay?

Cap reduction is not something the bank enforces; as the consumer, you control if, and how much, the cap reduction is.

But that’s not how BMW is calculating it. They are not giving a cap reduction, they are just calculating the lease with the reduced MF and dividing by 36. There is very little benefit to one paying this way.

Why would you expect a cap reduction because of one-pay - the only advantage is the reduced MF. Everything else should be the same.

Which is the problem with your dealer - they are bumping the cap $4000 for some unknown reason.

Guess I would question why you're continuing to work with this dealer. Find one more willing to be transparent.

What is the MF and residual for a 2018 530i and 530e i in Massachusetts for 12k/36. For a MSRP $62140 530i is 6% a good and realistic discount? Thanks in advance.

    $1000 lease cash on 530i
    $2000 lease cash on 530e
    $2000 loyalty

We suggest you target 7% off MSRP, before applying the incentives.

Ok so I decided to get a production vehicle which will be done exactly when my lease ends. This is the quote I received from my dealer on a 5.40i xdrive M sport.

    MSRP: $69,535
Discount 7% to price of $64,688
    MF: 0.00152
$3,000 in lease and loyalty incentive
    Adj cap cost: $62,593
    Invoice: $65,335

He is taking my current 5.35i as trade in and with tax incentive brings Texas tax down to $1,458 rolled into the monthly lease.

Up front is 1st month and reg/title = about $1100

    $768/mth

This sounded like a good deal to me, can I get some feedback please?

Again thanks to all so far who have chimed in.
