Is the $2k lease loyalty $1k lease credit from BMW applied to reduce the cap cost or to lower MSRP?

It's a CAP cost reduction. MSRP never changes

    California

    530i w/ $55,000 MSRP

    Knocked down to $53,000

    0$ money down

    10k Miles / 36 months

    $2000 Rebate
    $1000 loyalty

I was told the money factor was 2.9% so that would be .0012?

I tried to get 7% discount on the MSRP and they told me that they would give me that but that they would have to put the drive off back on and basically it came out to the same as the offer above. Said they would not do 7% off msrp + the royalty + loyalty + 0 down. Is this too much I am asking for?

The incentive and loyalty cash come from BMW, not the dealers pocket, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I would, however, expect the dealer to try to inflate the MF to claw back some of that discount.

Base MF is .00156, or 3.74%
So overall this looks like a pretty good deal? I thought I should maybe be getting more then the $2000 of MSRP
7% off MSRP, before incentives, is our recommended target.
I should be able to get 7% off MSRP with no money down / no drive off? They told me I would have to pay drive off if I wanted 7% off.

May I please have the RV and MF for:
    2018 530i xdrive (M Sport Design)
    36/10k
    07604

(It is a loaner car with approx 7,000 miles.... I don't know if this changes the above numbers)
    Thanks

    .00156 and 61%

However, the 7000 miles mean you subtract 4% from the residual AND .25/mile for each mile (another $1750).

    Plus you lose the incentives.

Better be a gigantic discount to make that deal worth while over a new unit.

I just went to a BMW dealer for a test drive and they told me they do "write offs" to compensate for the RV taking such a big hit. I got a terrible offer from them for the lease .. however the RV on the car for the offer was about .596.
It was a 2018 530xi loaner with 4000 miles and MSRP 58140. The sale price they offered was 53330. Is it some sort of gimmick with them giving me a 59.6% RV on this ($34685 in this case).. aka they give me a high residual and make up for it with a higher than normal sale price?

I am sneaky and took the pic of the details of a deal for a 2018 530M Package. Where can I improve here? I ideally would like to change the cash down, he said he could not get 0 down completely. I also wanted to change the Moneyfactor but he said that wasn't any option and that if a dealership is promising that they could lose their license? - I assume this is a lie. Any help would be appreciated!

Drive-off and sale price have nothing to do with each other unless you're trying to create a specific payment.

As I've learned (maybe I'm wrong) the proper steps should be:
    1. Negotiate a sale price - the target is 7% off MSRP, but that varies based on model and your location (supply/demand). This is your initial adjusted capitalized cost.
    2. Lock in all available incentives to further lower your cap cost. Make sure they are giving you everything (shady dealers will try to keep factory-incentives).
    3. Negotiate terms of the lease. Knowing what the base RV and MF numbers are from this thread, you can tell if they are adding in profit for themselves by increasing the MF. It's allowed (to a point) and can be used, at times, to offer you a better "sale price." But obviously you want everything to be as low as possible.
    4. Determine all fees and your drive-off payment. The experts here recommend paying first payment (always required) and DMV/document fees up front. If you have ZERO drive off, you are rolling in the cost of your first payment and these fees into your "principal" (your final cap cost) in order to drive off without paying anything. Also keep an eye on fees; some dealers can try to add in profit here.
    5. This will give you a payment. Each state has different tax requirements so this can change things if you're trying to compare deals in other states.

When they're telling you that you have to pay more up front in order to get a better sale price, then they are just moving money from the "sale price" bucket, to the "drive-off" bucket in order to keep the payment the same (I'd assume). Everything you do in steps 1-3 is to lower the "cost" of the lease overall. Step 4 is to determine your payment based on the "cost" you already set.

Never walk in asking for a particular payment (starting with step 5); they will always find a way to get you what payment you want but it may subtract savings that you could have earned in steps 1-3, or cost you in additional drive-off.

    2018 540i M Sports
    36/10
    MSRP: $67,095
    Selling Price: $58,372
    Rebates: $4000
    Down: $0
    Residual: 61%
    MF: .00191
    Monthly Payment: $717

    Does this deal look ok?

Also, the dealer was suggesting to add maintenance agreement and mechanical breakdown protection. Are these necessary? I thought the leased vehicle is covered under the factory warranty for three years (both maintenance and mb). Thanks!

The money factor is marked up from .00156 base.

Lease taxes are very high in Maryland, as they tax the full selling price of the vehicle.

What is the amount Due at Signing on this quote?
Did they give you the adjusted CAP cost?

Those extra cost plans are unnecessary.

I just took advantage of the Pull Ahead program in California. I only had 2 payments left, but since I was 15000 miles below my max allowed, they actually threw in a $300 bonus on top of that (3/4ths if my $400 payment).

I'll post my full deal shortly. Bottom line:

    530e M Sport
    $68,470 MSRP
    36/10k
    $2000 drive off
    $705 payment

They marked up the money factor but my adjusted cap cost was 10k+ below sticker. Can't beat that.

    Thanks!

I should have noted that it was $705 WITH 9.5% sales tax.

I ran the numbers with a base MF and a more standard sale price (7% off PLUS incentives) and it wasn't any better. I pushed her hard on the MF but she knew she had me. At the end of that day, I still think it's a good deal for a nearly $70k car. Hope it still counts as a good deal to you experts.

$705 with tax is even better.

Dealers are wising up - you can get a big discount from sticker or the base MF, but rarely both. Gotta figure out which results in the better payment.

    Hey there,

New to the forum. So much to learn. Trying to get the RV/MF on a loaded 530i with M Sport Package in Southern California. 10k/36.

Also: Does it matter what packages the car has or is it just the model that matters?

One more question: When it says the following on the dealership's website, does this mean it already has a nearly 8% discount?

    DETAILED PRICING

    $70,875
    MSRP
    $6,001
    DEALER DISCOUNT
    $64,874
    SONIC PRICE W/CREDIT

    Thank you!

    Hello,

Can I please get MF and RV for the following in Dallas,Texas for April 2018? Does adding BMW Ultimate care increase the residual? Also, can you please provide incentives and how much (%) discount should I aim for after taxes (before adding incentives) on MSRP.

Also, based on my company I can get upto 1500 incentive as corporate discount but the dealer only mentions $500. Can I negotiate to get more than $500? I also qualify for 1000 grad student incentive. So I'm hoping I can add that together to get a good deal. I'm planning to get good deals on gran coupe (430i xDrive, 440i xDrive) and 530i xDrive. Please advice on how should I proceed :)

    1. 2018 BMW 530i xDrive, 36m/12k -
    2. 2018 BMW 530i xDrive, 36m/15k -

    Thank you.

    Hello,

My dealer's website has global incentives page that has two incentives that is confusing me. Can you please confirm if I can ask the dealer combine these two incentives together on 530i ? Also, this is not the $1000 lease credit right? I'm confused, if these three things are same or different.

One last question, these incentives are provided by manufacturer right ? so if my dealer use these incentives as discount that they're giving. Should I push back and say that I want 7-8% off on MSRP excluding these incentives? please suggest how should I proceed.

Please find the details in the photo attached.

Thank you for your help :)

Please find the details in the photo attached.

Thank you for your help :)

On the 530i, it's $1000 lease credit, and $2000 loyalty (if you qualify)
Those are generic offers ("up to $2000"), and not necessarily applicable to your model.

You want 7% off, then deduct the incentives that your model and you are eligible for.

Are the MF and Res same for Ex Loaners?
Also will $1000 Lease Credit, $2000 Lease Loyalty and $500 Corporate still apply?
I am looking to lease for 36m/12K
    thanks

If the loaner has under 5000 miles, then it qualifies for the same rates and incentives. (Not sure about Corporate, though)
There is a residual reduction of $0.25/mile for existing mileage.

Also, do these numbers add up?
    MSRP: $65,475.00
    SP: $60,891.75
    Lease Credit: 1000
    Lease Loyalty: 2000
    Corp Dis: 500
    Tile/Reg/Bank Fees: 1785
    12k/36m lease
Dealer is saying $768 Out of Pocket and $767/month

My calcs say with these numbers it should be $731 including NJ Tax or $684 without the tax

    Thoughts?

    .00156 MF and 60% residual

    I get $706/mo.+tax
If I add $2000 for tax, I get $765/mo... pretty close

Also, if it's a loaner, you have to adjust the residual

I'm in Texas, for leasing the car, the sales tax is calculated based on the actual MSRP or the negotiated price ? Also, if I take BMW ultimate care(or care+), does it bring the residual value up for 530i ??

I was just quoted for 530i and I think the price is too bumped up for 60K price after residual. Can you please take a look and provide any suggestions ? Thank you

In TX, you pay sales tax on the full selling price of the vehicle. (which is a lot of tax)
Adding service packages does not affect the residual.
Can't comment on the prices, as the MSRP is not provided.
The base MF is .00156 for all models, this month. It's marked up the maximum on all of those quotes.

    Hello Forum!
I am a bit confused by this offer for a 2018 530i Series sedan. Can someone explain this in plain terms. Thanks.

    MSRP 58,650
    Dealer CHG 995
    Misc fees/dealer chgs/taxes 1,000
    Residual 0.58
Money Factor 0.00176 discounted for sec deposit to 0.0141 (4,900 rolled over from prior lease + add'l $800 added) (no credit issues, so I'm thinking the base rate is high)
    7.5% sales tax
    Discounts 4,500
Monthly Payment $795 (incl tax) x 36 mo
    15,000 miles (0.20/over mi)
Due at sign $2,390 (no money down; 1st payment; includes additional $800 for 7th sec deposit)

Thanks for all the help on this forum. Officially signed off on my production, and it has already begun production, due in the US by in June.

    2018 5.40i xDrive M-sport in Bluestone Metallic

    MSRP: $69,535
Selling Price: $63,900.31 (8% off MSRP)
    Rebates: $3,000
    Cap cost: $61,933.31
Total Cap cost (with Texas taxes): $64,083.33
(Vehicle cost per their papers - $65,535, with negative $1,634.69 profit)

    MF: 0.00156
    Residual: 61%
    10k/36 month

Monthly came out to $748 with $0 down.

Can you please tell me which dealer in Texas gave you 8% off MSRP? I'm in Dallas, Texas and I'd be glad to get the same discount. Thank you :)

MF is marked up, before the MSD (base rate is .00156)

Is this Florida? If so, typical dealer doc fee ($995! wowza....)

What do the misc fees and such entail?

Can you get a full breakdown of the $2390 due at signing?

Yes, Florida. The inception payment is first month (795), delivery service fee (699), $800 for the additional deposit, plus some taxes. I know something is wrong here because they quoted the same monthly payment for 2 cars, this one and another that was MSRP of $61,000 (they adjusted the lower priced car to match).
I see from other posts that the MF is higher than normal, but I would like to know how much the depostit reduces the MF. If it minimums out at 0.00141 no matter where it starts, that's OK. If not, then there is an issue. What is realistic do you think?

.00156 is the base rate.. So, they are marking up your rate, before applying the MSDs.
We've heard the new plan is five deposits @ .00005 each, for a total reduction of .00025. Looks like they are using 7 deposits? Even if it's 7 deposits X $800, that's $5600, and you are only $700 short, not $800. I'd ask them to clarify. If it's 5 deposits, you should be getting $900 back.

So... there is a $995 fee and a $699 fee? Are you sure about the $995 being a dealer fee?

Ask for the adjusted CAP cost.

I'm no "expert" but I've seen enough lease contracts to know that this one stinks. It looks loaded with fees and a marked up interest rate. You're "out of pocket" (including MSDs) is ~$8000! I just ran a quick calculation and with that much down and $4500 off MSRP, you can finance the car for $60 more a month.

    Not apples to apples, but I just got a custom-ordered $68k 530e (36/10k, yes) for $705/mo.

Unless you're in a remote part of Florida, there has to be other dealers to comparison shop.

What is the residual and MF on an M550i for 10/36 in Los Angeles?

Also are there any incentives on this model?

Sales tax is always calculated on the MSRP of the price right in Texas? and not on the Capitalized(negotiated) cost. Please clear this confusion. I'm trying to calculate lease for 530i and this always confuse me.
For eg- if the MSRP (Sticker) is $10,000 and the negotiated price came down to 5,000 (after discount and incentives). what would be the tax for the car based on 6.25% rate? Thank you :)

Also, I like the car from a dealer but that car is still in transit to showroom (I didn't order it). I want to know if the negotiations still holds the same for the car that is coming to the lot in sometime and for the car that are already in the lot.

    Hello,

What is the MF and Residual for a 36/30/24 month 12K lease for the 2018 530e and 530e xDrive?

Is there a "Sweet spot" for the lease?

    Any incentives on this model?

    Thank you!

Does the 36 month qualify for the $7500 federal rebate? Does BMW do MSD's? Is the $2000 lease credit just a cap cost reduction? Lastly, is there any loyalty that can be stacked? Thank you

The 530e does not qualify for $7500 in federal rebates; that's only for the i3 due to its larger battery capacity. The 530e qualifies for $4668, however.

If you lease, then BMWFS is technically "buying" the car from the dealer (and "renting" it to you), so they get the rebate. They are offering a $2000 lease incentive on the 530e ($1000 more than other 5 series) as a "bonus" for people interested in the PHEV. You will only get the full $4668 if you are the one buying it.

State rebates, at lease in CA, do go to the leasee, though. Currently $1500 on the 530e in California.

Yes, the sales tax is applied to the entire negotiated selling price.

Dealers will always be willing to make a deal on a car already on the lot. A car in transit? Not so much.
