Yes, the sales tax is applied to the entire negotiated selling price.

Dealers will always be willing to make a deal on a car already on the lot. A car in transit? Not so much.

$925 is the lease acquisition fee, not destination.
That looks like a pretty good price.

Looking at a 2018 540i Executive Demo with 4,500 miles. MSRP is $76,125. Proposal is 12% off MSRP plus $5k in dealer incentives. This would be a purchase with BMWFS offering 0.9% financing. Is 12% off MSRP a fair discount or what would be a fair discount? Thank you

For a demo unit, 12% is fair. You might want to shoot for 15% off and see what the dealer says.

Absolutely $0 due at signing? Not even first payment?

If so, add all of the amounts to the sale price (including first payment), deduct $3000, for an adjusted CAP cost of $51,900. Maximum markup of money factor to .00196, and I get a payment of $642/mo.

With the base money factor, the payment would be $606/mo.

I'd be very happy with $605-$610/month... Less happy with $640-$645.

The lease credit is that share of the federal tax credit that BMWFS is passing along to the customer. It's low because the residual value is equal to all other 5-series; for most hybrids, the residual is a lot lower than the regular version, so the incentives have to be larger to compensate.

Hi Youngtex, is the $5K dealer incentive nationwide or how did you find out about the incentive? Were you able to get the 15% off MSRP?

As far as we know, the 2017 models no longer have supported lease programs.

What happens if the car gets totaled after two months? Seems that if you exclude the first month's payment and acquisition fee, you are paying an additional $2,000.00 at signing.

If I were to do the One pay lease I would get GAP insurance to cover the unexpected as you have called out. What do you mean by an additional $2k at signing?

The money factor discount for single-pay leases is only .00030 lower than the base rate.
Not nearly enough savings to make it worth putting all that money upfront.

All BMWFS leases include GAP.

Bogus. Glad I made my deal last month.

I wanted to post my deal and ask the experts to tell me exactly what discount I got and what my true Adjusted Cap Cost ended up being. I thought I understood, but the more I look at this, the more confused I get.

MSRP: $68,470
Drive-Off: $2000
2 Pull Ahead payments made ($400x2) PLUS a $300 mileage bonus (Given as a BMWFS statement credit in a month or two)
I know I paid a padded MF (0.00196) but was told I got a great discount on sale price, thus helping me with taxes and registration fees now and down the line.
