Thanks Michaell and kyfdx for all the help.

    Do you have MF / RV for P+ at 36/(7.5, 10, 12) in 94568?

Also: how long are these numbers good for and are there any incentives beyond the $1000 lease bonus?

Yes, ~10% discount from MSRP is quite strong for an Audi, plus the base MF.

Thank you - $541 is right, I had a typo. $3525 covers first pmt, sales tax, bank fee, and "other" fees - need to get breakdown on other fees

Our recommendation is to only put up the first payment and any registration costs when you sign the paperwork. Taxes and non-government fees should be added into the monthly payment.

Thanks for all of your hard work! It is MUCH appreciated! I was using Edmunds calculate your own lease payment and cannot for the life of me make the numbers here add up to their lease payments for $0 down and 36months. They say they are using the base MF for AZ of .00155. I was wondering if you could tell me if the numbers DO add up and also if it is a good deal. Thank you so, so much!

    Premium Plus?
    .00155 MF and 56% residual
    $1000 lease bonus

What isn't itemized is the "upfront charges" of $1233.
I'll assume that is DMV and dealer fees.
That, and the first payment come out of the rebate, leaving $106 for CAP reduction.

    $42646 selling price
    +$1179 aftermarkets
    +$895 acquisition fee
    = $44720 adjusted CAP

    That gives me $616/mo.+tax
Assuming 7% tax, the payment is about right.

    Transport
    Window Tint
Dealer fee (undisclosed within the "upfront charges")

Those all add up to $40-$50 mo. extra.

Ah, I see. Is it normal for:

    1. upfront charges being so high?
    2. The first payment coming out of the rebate?
    3. Is this a good deal?

Thank you so much for your help! It is MUCH appreciated!

    1) Ask for an itemization. I think registration fees are high in AZ. Dealers there also seem to have high doc fees.

    2) No issues with that. Unless you want to make the first payment at signing.

    3) It's an average deal for a Q5.

After reading the forum I was wondering if it was possible the MF here could be so much higher, and you have answered that question. It seems the "discount" isn't really a discount after all. I wasn't sure how to calculate how much more that is costing me over the 36 months to see what the final "discount" really is.

They were saying 5000 down including first payment making a monthly payment of 552 thereafter. Then after pulling credit because I've only been back living in the US for 1.5 years following many years abroad, they increased the MF to .00304 which now makes the payment 590/month. After reading your forum I would now not put down any more than first payment and document fee. I also would offer them the differential in MF for my lack of credit history as a security deposit to be returned to me at the end of the lease. But the biggest issue remains the base MF. Do you have an idea how to calculate what the actual discount is that they're giving? That alone makes me think I should walk away.

Here is the lease number page they sent me.

Before the incentive, you are getting close to 13% off sticker price, which is very good for Audi (we generally suggest that 6% is a decent discount). I suspect they are marking up the money factor to take back some of that discount.

Do you know your credit score? There could be an additional markup due to that, as well.

Ask the dealer for a breakdown of the "estimated fees".

Hello, I'd appreciate your feedback on the following initial proposal from the dealer.

    Q5 Premium Plus in FL (34113) 36 month/10k miles
    MSRP: $51,710
    Discount and lease bonus: $4619
    Sale Price: $47,091
    Dealer and License Fees: $1009
    Taxes: $2958
Total Cost: $51,953 (Looks like an extra $895 has been added but not explained -- dealer told me that they do not charge an aquistion fee)
MF: .00205 (seems higher than what you've been quoting)
    RV: 57% = $29400
    $2500 cash down
    Monthly payment = $697

    Base MF is .00155
    $1000 lease credit

    FL taxes the monthly payment

There is no way to avoid the acquisition fee, despite what the dealer tells you.

Ask them for the adjusted cap cost used for their quote, and how they got there from the selling price.

Last, we recommend you only pay the first payment and registration costs at signing. Leave the rest of the cash in your pocket.

Had a few more discussions with the dealer and I'd appreciate a sanity check.
Re: your previous question. They get the adjusted cap cost from MSRP +acquisition fee + dealer fees - discount - rebate - cash down.

The dealer is quoting a monthly fee of $752, but I when I run the numbers I get $707 (I want to establish the starting point for further negotiation). The attached capture shows the numbers as I ran them. They are still insisting on the high .00235 MF because the car has "different packaging pricing and has a different MF from others".
The blue highlights on the sheet are the numbers from the deal. I think I have all the calculations correct.
I did include $1000 cash down, and I will pay the license fees up front. All other costs are rolled in, such as acquisition fee and dealer handling/documentation.
    Thanks for your help.

So - Audi has released a special version of the Q5, with a "Tech Value Package". I'm guessing a lower MSRP, but different lease numbers. Base MF on that trim is .00214, so the dealer is still marking it up, just not as much as we thought.

The residual is lower, too, at 57%.

I agree with your math - what you need to find out is the CAP cost the dealer is using for their payment quote, and what they've added to get there.

Hi guys, looking for some insight here. This is a one-pay lease...so I know the usual MF doesn't apply and I'm having a hard time working out if this is a fantastic deal or if I should be doing better. So forgive me for not having the MF and RV that are being applied but any general insights would be great.

    36m/10k lease in 94123 for Q5 P+
    MSRP - 49630
Sale price (think this includes tax) - 41500 (seems like a massive discount on MSRP?)
    Rebate - 1000
    Service contract - 1169
"Upfront" charges (assume this means acquisition, doc, dmv) - 1616.50

Total due on delivery - $21,313

    Rebate - 1000
    Service contract - 1169
"Upfront" charges (assume this means acquisition, doc, dmv) - 1616.50

Total due on delivery - $21,313

.00155 MF and 58% residual (assuming service contract is AudiCare)
Single payment lease drops the money factor to .00095
MSRP of AudiCare for this model is $869.
California taxes the payment, so it's doubtful that tax is included in your sale price.
$1616 looks about right for acq.fee, DMV, doc fee and tax on the acq.fee.

    Assuming 10% sales tax rate
If I add the $1169, deduct the $1000, add $100 for tax on the rebate...
    I get a payment of $428/mo.
    $428 X 36 = $15408
    $15408 X 1.1 (10% tax) = $16950
    $16950 + $1616 = $18,566

    $2750 less than your quote

I'll guess that $41,500 might already include the rebate... and, that they've marked up the money factor.. a lot.

Wow, incredibly helpful. I guess I'll go back and ask them to break out this quote with MF and RV so I can see what exactly is going on. Also, I didn't realize the single pay lease dropped the MF that much, that's great!

Hi guys, looking for some insight here. This is a one-pay lease...so I know the usual MF doesn't apply and I'm having a hard time working out if this is a fantastic deal or if I should be doing better. So forgive me for not having the MF and RV that are being applied but any general insights would be great.

Hmm, what am I missing here in your calculations?

    When I apply the 58% residual to the sale price + AudiCare - rebate (so $41500 + 1169 - 1000 = 41669) to get the depreciation charge, (so 42% to 41669), I get $17,500.
Then I apply the 0.00095 MF to get the pre-tax cost/pre "upfront" charges of $17516
Add in tax (8.5%) and acq fee/doc/dmv and I end up with $20621 for the total.

    Clearly I'm missing something...

Hi, my 2015 Q5 Premium lease for 36/10 ends mid-July. I am trying to decide whether to do a lease buyout for $25,681 (MSRP $45,055, RV 57%, mileage is <28k) or lease a 2018 Q5 Premium Plus for 36/10 from the same dealer in 11767. I would greatly appreciate a sanity check on the following offer. Dealer added a cap cost reduction fee of $707.84 to get me to $499/month. Thank you!

    MSRP: $51,425
    RV: 57%
    MF: 0.00155
    Initial Cap Cost: $46.936.38
    Cash Cap Red: $707.84
    Rebate: $3,000
    Adj Cap Cost: $43,228.54
    NY Sales Tax: #1,875.66
Initial Fees: $992.50, Acq Fee $895, Doc Fee $75, Waste Tire $12.50, NY Inspection $10)
    Total Cap Red: $3,707.84
    Due at Start: $4,075
    Monthly Payment: $499

So.. It's $4075 out of pocket, in addition to the $3000 rebate?

kydfx, yes, in addition to a $3,000 rebate, it is $4,075 out of pocket. That covers $499 1st month, $707.84 cap cost reduction, $1,875 in NY sales tax, $895 acq fee, $75 doc fee, $12.50 waste tire, and $10 NYS inspection.

The deal is pretty good, given the lease program available. The calculations are correct.

Apologies for multiple postings, below is an update of my original post on June 29, with options from my NY dealer in 11767. Dealer tells me that the July program covers the 1st month lease payment up to $800.

    Original offer on ’18 Q5 Prem+ 36/10:
    MSRP: $51,425
    RV: 57%
    MF: 0.00155
    Initial Cap Cost: $46.936.38
Rebate: $3,000 (includes a $1,000 loyalty fee from Audi Financial Services)
    Cash Cap Red: $707.84
    Total Cap Red: $3,707.84
    Adj Cap Cost: $43,228.54
    NYS Sales Tax: $1,875.66
Initial Fees: $992.50 (for $895 Acq Fee, $75 Doc Fee, $12.50 Waste Tire Fee, $10 NYS Inspection)
    Monthly Payment: $499
Due at Start: $4,075 (for $499 1st Month, $707.84 Cap Cost Red, $1,875 NYS Sales Tax, $992.50 Initial Fees)

New offer on same car, 36/10, NYS taxes added in, no cap cost reduction fee:
Initial Fees: $992.50 (for $895 Acq Fee, $75 Doc Fee, $12.50 Waste Tire Fee, $10 NYS Inspection)
    Monthly Payment: $558.77
Due at Start: $992.50 (Audi covers 1st month)

Dealer also offered same car, 36/10, for $475/mo if I pay a $1,500 cash cap reduction:
Due at Start: $2,492.50 (for $1,500 cash cap red, $895 Acq Fee, $75 Doc Fee, $12.50 Waste Tire Fee, $10 NYS Inspection, Audi covers 1st month)

    Thoughts? Thanks!

    Do you have MF / RV for P+ at 36/(7.5, 10, 12) in 94568?

Also: how long are these numbers good for and are there any incentives beyond the $1000 lease bonus?

Do we have updated numbers & incentives for July?

Residuals are 1% lower, but lease rebate is up $500, and the first payment is covered.
Seems that would put you about $500 ahead.

I'm not sure how $1500 extra upfront can drop your payment by $83/mo.
That really makes no sense. But, if that's the offer, I would jump on it.
    ($1500 / 36 mo = $41.66/mo.)

It's an Audi-to-customer incentive... Appears to be nationwide.

It's in addition to the lease bonus
