I can't make the math work. Ask the dealer what adjusted cap cost they are using to get their payment quote, and what's been added or subtracted from the selling price to get there.

$700 off MSRP doesn't seem like a great deal. Might have a little more room, there.

Hi all! I finally test drove a CX5 and am still torn between it, the Forester and the Crosstrek (any thoughts there?). I still have 3 months to decide as my current lease is through Jan 17th but they said "we'll run some numbers for you for you anyways." That's not how I go about it, I usually walk in with my offer but I figured what the heck.

For a 12k 36 month lease on a base, AWD Grand Touring this is what they gave me.
No cash down but plates and title and first payment at signing = $449 monthly payment
I couldn't figure out how they came up with something so high but I thanked them for the offer but said it makes most sense for me to just run out my lease or consider something in December.

I wanted to figure out the math when I got home so I asked just for my own knowledge what the residual would be and they stated: $17,715.60
The MSRP of that base model is $31,935 so that came to 55%, which seems right.
(I live in Pittsburgh, PA)
"Their price" was 31,935 - 908 (savings) and 750 (incentive) = 30,277
Add in the acquisition fee of $595
Money Factor was .00051, which as you guys indicated is the max markup.

They offered to "give me cash" to cover the rest of my current lease $1029 which isn't giving me anything but a "loan" at the lease percentage rate. I'm not about to pay car insurance for 2 cars and have one sit around lol But I get why they did it.

Or tax rate here is 7% so that took a payment of 419 up to 448 and some change, which is close to their $449.

They were super nice, but it just really reaffirmed to me why it's best to go in with what you want to pay. Show them your math for a reasonable negotiated selling price and then challenge any markups in the lease calculations.

No rush - unlikely the deals will get any worse around the holidays.

And, FYI, there is a 3% bump in the sales tax in PA for leases. Total tax rate for you will be 10%.

What is the adjusted cap cost?

CA taxes the monthly payment on a lease, so the tax number the dealer gave you is not relevant.

Are the accessories on the factory window sticker or not? If not, you will pay for 100% of them over the lease term, or about $23/mo
