24 month numbers suck, frankly

And, the Subaru numbers are national, though I suspect you could get a better discount in CA, at this time of year.

I leased my 2017 wrx Prem 6mt from California back in January of this year. I think my residual was 63% or higher. A little surprised to see the 2018 drop down to 56%.

Do you think its either the time frame I bought my car (better deals in January) or because the 2020 redesign is set to be released during this lease term of the 2018.

Debating if we should wait on car shopping or go for it sooner. This WRX would be for my GF.

Trying to time a lease for the best deals is like trying to time the stock market.

It's possible that the 2018 residuals are low since there are still some 2017s on the lot that need to be cleared out.

Or, Subaru has decided that artificially inflating the residuals to achieve a low payment wasn't working for them, in the long run.

Or, Subaru has decided to try and make more money off the WRX and have lowered the residual accordingly.

Hard to say, really.

I am having a real problem getting dealers to honor the straightforward numbers that I am presenting. I have calculated a few leases now, and their adjusted cap, and my adjusted cap, are off by $1200. Have heard of Subaru dealers putting in bogus fees on the WRX, expecting people to pay it, because its a WRX? I'm in the Chicago suburbs if that helps. Thanks.

Are these dealers willing to explain the difference? If not, time to find another dealer.

How far are you willing to travel to get the right deal? Down state, Milwaukee, Indiana?

Only takes one dealer to meet your numbers. The WRX has a lot of competition, now. They aren't that rare.

But, if you've taken delivery, not much you can do about it now.

Got a quote on a 6mt Base($28k) and Premium($30k) both 12/36. Out the door prices were $318/$390 with $2k down on either deal. No trade and I live in NY. The base seems like a decent deal? Why such a big jump in payments for a $2k MSRP difference?

Different MF and residual could result in a payment bump, but $70/mo does seem a bit much.

Currently in a 2015 WRX Limited. Somehow managed to only put 20K miles on a 12/36 lease that ends Jan 1, so I may buy this one out or at least try to get the dealer to buy it out as I should have some equity in there that I can use as a CCR for a new lease.

Should I bother hitting up dealerships Thanksgiving week, or do my chances of getting a great deal really increase that much if I waited until the end of December? Not sure if end of year deals are real, or just myth / marketing.

If you can wait, you'll likely score a better deal....

Always get more miles than you need. Cheaper to buy them up front than to pay the penalty at the end of the lease.
