Hi - can I get the current MF and residual for premium plus lease 36 mo/12k in massachusetts/new england? dealer gave me a MF of .0025 and a residual of 59%, which from reading through this seems like an inflated MF at least. after the discount on the cap cost they are offering from 64,735 to 60,588, they are getting to a monthly payment of $923. any feedback/comments appreciated, especially to validate that the MF and residual are reasonable.

    2.0T or 3.0T?

.00250 is marked up. Way up.

Looking for the MF and RV for a Prestige 2018 Q7 3.0. 36/15K/year

Dealer quoted 0.0184 which is 0.0001 higher than the rates I'm reading here. I s that normal for them to mark up the rate?
Also dealer is not budging below 4% MSRP here in Florida. Claiming that they have a no haggle policy.

.00184 is correct for the 3.0 model
No dealer is going to bother marking up a rate by .00001.
    54% residual

Oh yes they will/are, my first MF of 0.00174 was a typo. Dealer quoted me 0.00185.

few quick questions guys....do you know if state of Texas charges TAX on the interest (MF) in a lease?

Also, i am doing some numbers here and getting contradicting results.

    ONE PAY LEASE:
    MF - 0.00125
    Residual - 59%
    MSRP - $59,650
    Incentive - $1000
Agreed Discount - 6% off MSRP
TAX - 1.25% (this is discounted by Audi as part of one pay lease offer)
    Acquistion fee: $895
Other fees incl tax title etc: $342

This is what i am coming up with:

    Selling car price: $55,071+895+342 = $56,308
    Residual: $35,193
    DEPRECIATION COST: $21,115
    INTEREST: ($56,308+35,193)*.00125 = $114.37/mo * 36mo = $4,117
    TAX: $55,071*1.25% = $688

    GRAND TOTAL: $21,115 + $4,117 + $688 = $25,920

The contradicting information i am getting is from the Edmunds app calculator, where same calculation gives me $ 25,262

What are you guys coming up with ??

I don't think the on-line calculators are set up to address taxes against the full selling price, just the monthly payment.

    Your calculations are correct.

The tax credits that are occasionally available in Texas definitely make for a better lease deal.

    thanks for clarifying.

Based on your response i am going to assume that texas does not charge sales tax on the interest portion of the lease

OK, now you've got me thinking.

A one-pay lease is calculated as the monthly payment, multiplied by the lease term.

The monthly payment is the sum of the depreciation and the rent charge. In states like Texas, where the tax is collected up front, the tax amount is generally added into the adjusted cap cost, which then subjects it to both depreciation and interest.

Given that the tax amount is so low, the interest against it won't amount to much.

Had to think it through. Sorry for the bad information earlier.

Whether you are getting tax credits or not, the tax rate in TX is always applied against the full selling price.

Looking for some advice on lease payment on a 2018 Audi Q7 2.0T Premium Plus in Vermont:

    MSRP - $64,595
    Discount: $2702
    Selling Price - $61,893
    Discount: $1000 (Loyalty)
    Subtotal: $60,893
Taxes: ?? (have a question to the dealer on this as it doesn't look included)
    Licenses and Fees: $367
    Balance: $61,260

    Residual Value - 59%
    Money Factor- .00215
    Miles per year- 12k
    Months: 36
    Money down - $2500
    Monthly Payment $849-859

**Dealer agreeing to pay last 3 payments on current Q7 which will be $1500

When I calculate these numbers above, including taxes, I get a monthly payment of roughly $823 (instead of $849-859).

It appears that if I add the discount ($2702) + 3 lease payments ($1500), that they will say they are giving 6.5% off MSRP although not all is going to new vehicle making the true discount off MSRP roughly 4.2%.

I don't like to put any money down on a lease so if I take out the $2500 down with the same numbers above, the payment goes to $898.

Guessing the money factor is high here but wanted to double check. If I use 0.00184 for the money factor with the numbers above except no money down and including taxes, I get $867. Does that make sense? I am checking with the dealer on the taxes since I have a feeling they will say that still needs to be added to their numbers.

So, I'm looking to verify the Residual/MF and also if the calculations make sense. Don't mind paying $867 if the numbers make sense.

    Thank you in advance!!

    @cduteau
    .00185 MF and 59% residual
As noted, the money factor is marked up.

You can't calculate the payment by subtracting the $2500 due at signing.
It's most likely that the $2500 goes to first payment, $895 acquisition fee, and dealer/DMV fees.
If I use your "Balance" as the adjusted CAP cost, I get $857/mo.
I didn't account for taxes, as I don't know your rate, or how Vermont handles sales tax on a lease.

If the dealer eats $1500 from your old lease, that certainly affects the deal you get on this one. No free lunch.

Why lease early? Dealer isn't giving a great deal, is marking up the money factor, and you are out $1500 for the remaining lease payments (no matter who actually pays them).

Thank you for the information. I have learned that the payment quoted $849-859 does include all tax, title and registration fees. Vermont tax for a lease is currently 6% and is only taxed on the purchase price (original acquisition - lease end value = purchase price).
The reason for possibly leasing early is that we thought we had 36k on the original lease but only have 30k. Of course we are at 34k. Not a big deal but adds up quickly.
Does it make more sense to wait out the lease and just pay the mileage penalty? Never have been over on our mileage so entering unfamiliar territory.
    Thank you for any guidance.

If you have three months to go, that's 3000 miles at 0.25/mile. So, pay $2250 to keep driving it, or pay $1500 to trade now. For $250/mo, I'd keep driving it.

    3% isn't much of a discount.

WA tax rate is 6.8%. Loyalty rebates was not mentioned. I am not sure whether I need to bring my old non-Audi car for trade-in.
Seems like I should starting working on a discount of 6% or ask for rebates. Appreciate your thoughts on further negotiation.
Also, if I am asking for other packages such as driver assistant package, etc. Are those extra costs added upon selling price or MSRP? Should I ask for discount for the extra packages?

    What is the MSRP?
    3% isn't much of a discount.

What is your tax rate? 10%.
If so, I get a payment of $1022/mo.

Are you getting loyalty rebates? Trade-in?
Okay.. I get $960 mo, now.

WA sales taxes must have dropped recently?

Yes, look for another $1200-$1800 off MSRP.
It's still not going to be cheap to lease, relative to MSRP

WA tax rate is 6.8%. Loyalty rebates was not mentioned. I am not sure whether I need to bring my old non-Audi car for trade-in.
Seems like I should starting working on a discount of 6% or ask for rebates. Appreciate your thoughts on further negotiation.
Also, if I am asking for other packages such as driver assistant package, etc. Are those extra costs added upon selling price or MSRP? Should I ask for discount for the extra packages?

Could also be a rural area of WA - I suspect the taxes in and around Seattle are 10%, but other parts of the state may not have local sales taxes.

I got it wrong. The tax rate is 7.8%. Seems like the dealer inflated the Money Factor.

Are MF and RV locked in by Audi? I have a dealership in Texas quoting .00285 MF and they say that Audi sets the rate and they have no control over this.

    Is this true?

Audi sets the base rate, but the dealer is free to mark it up for extra profit.

Tell them you want the base MF or you'll walk.

RV is fixed by Audi and cannot be altered by the dealer.

Hello all! I'm trying to determine if I got a good deal on my 2018 Q7 Premium Plus in the Chicago area I just closed on.

    After negotiating back and forth....

    Msrp: $69,495
    selling price: $61,725
total down payment out of pocket: $5,000
    36 month / 12k miles a year
    monthly payment: $748

I know a big down payment is not advised but I think i got a good deal. I would love to get some reassurance from the experts from this forum. Thanks!

    2.0T or 3.0T?

Do you have a breakdown of the $5000?
