    Hi, I went to the dealer today to negotiate on a loaner with a MSRP of $49,595 330i xDrive. They said that since the car has 4700 miles that they subtract $1,000 off from the residual to account for the mileage that is already on the car? I'm not sure if this is standard practice as I thought the residual was just 60% for 36/12k. I also noticed if I go to KBB the value to this car is between $36,500-42,193. Should I negotiate off this $36,500 number? I'm hoping with my calculations the car will be under $400 month sign and drive. Any advice would helpful and much appreciated. Thanks! Oh, and they did mention on a loaner special, Costco discount and Corp G discounts are not eligible. Only the $3,000 incentive.

    Actually, it will be $1175 adjustment to the residual (.25/mile).

    But, you want to negotiate a discount of 12-15% off MSRP, before the incentives.

    Don't know about Costco and Corp discounts, or if they apply to a loaner.

    Check with a second dealer, and see if you get the same answer.

    Hi all. Quick question. Just got a lease sheet back from the dealer. Confused about a few terms. Wondering what they are: (1) Cap Fees; (2) Amt Applied Upfront; (3) Upfront Charges, and (4) Customer Cash. I was told that Customer Cash included taxes and the first month payment, so I'm not sure what Amt. Applied Upfront and Upfront Charges" are?

    Second, what is the difference between "Initial Payment" and "Due on Delivery" (which mirrors Customer Cash)

    I agree with the math on that worksheet.

    Why so much up front cash? We recommend just first payment and registration costs, which should be way less than $2100.

    1) CAP fees - These are fees that are rolled into the CAP cost. You don't have any of those.. you are paying them upfront.
    2) AMT applied upfront - These are the fees/charges you are paying upfront. 1st payment, $925 acq., $141 doc, probably tax on the CAP reduction.
    3) There is another screen that itemizes the upfront charges.. See #2
    4) Customer Cash - This is the amount you pay at signing. Not sure why it doesn't exactly match the amount applied upfront, but the excess is added to the CAP reduction ($4250 rebate + $213 excess).

    That's a pretty good deal.

    If I can roll the acquisition fee and taxes into the monthly payment, what is the general impact per-month on that?

    Add roughly $30/mo for every $1000 you add to the CAP cost.

    The only tax you are paying upfront is tax on the CAP reduction. If you roll that into the lease, you are taxed on that amount again. But, you can certainly roll in the acquisition fee, as you pay tax on that either way.

    Rule of thumb (in a state that taxes the monthly payment):
    Roll taxable items into the CAP cost
    Pay non-taxable items upfront.

    The lease credit for BMW is a customer rebate, that's applied as a CAP cost reduction. For offers received or given, you should clarify on whether the price accounts for the rebate, or does not.

    Hi, with the current 3 series being replaced by the G20, what is best target percentage off MSRP I should shoot for and is there a certain month that would be more favorable to lease the current model 340i to get the best deal?

    Not a good deal.

    MF is marked up the max allowed (base is .00166), and you lose any available incentives if you select a loaner vehicle with more than 5000 miles on it.

    Better to find a loaner under 5000 miles.

    You have to make those two payments, somewhere. Might as well keep the vehicle and make them now, then start shopping again in 2 months.
