But the numbers are coming out much higher on their calculator...

1) The Car

2) Their Calculation (excludes taxes & fees, includes $1000 Lease Rebate) = $591

3) My Calculation = $509 https://goo.gl/nNfSh4 (again, no taxes & fees like above)

So why is their calculated price so high? Are they showing their hand; how high they have marked up the MF? Or am I missing something?

It does show 59% residual for 36/12, and I show 58% for that term/mileage

Thank you - since they have the car itself listed at $40,185, I can only assume (since they're including -$1000 Lease Rebate) that their selling price is no more than $39,185.

I wouldn't assume anything about the deal. Get the numbers from them (CAP cost and MF), then we can evaluate. Until then, we're only guessing.

If they don't want to be transparent, then that tells you something, too.

There is no way you'll get into any Tiguan for $200/mo.

You may not even be able to get into a new 2019 Jetta for that price, now - I've had friends look, and both of them bought instead of leased, as the incentives were better.

Sad, but true. The dealer fee is just another way to separate you from your money. Simply negotiate a lower price to offset it.

What dealer is this ad from? I got my Jetta from McDonald; they were very easy and transparent to deal with.

Funny that one sentence says Lease pricing INCLUDES $599 Dealer Handling and $625 Acquisition Fees., then the next says Taxes and fees due at signing.

If the fees are part of the lease payment, what fees would you pay up front?

Where, exactly, do you live? I've learned a lot about sales tax in CO over the past few months - some of it is added to the payment each month, and some of it - depending on where you live - is paid up front.

That price may be for purchase, not lease. Different incentives apply.

Some tips suggest not even mentioning the lease until settling on a price and others say that does not matter. But the bottom line is to negotiate just the same. How, then, would it be different? I just moved from Colorado to New York. As you can imagine, it has been rough 2 months. My 2017 Jetta (one year into my 3 year lease) was just t-boned and deemed a total loss. I begin a new job on 10 September. I’m shooting for a dream price! My husband will also need a vehicle. He has been taking the bus. We were going to wait a bit, but we thought if we were to go in aggressively pricing 2 vehicles, that could be motivational. He wants the GTI SE Manual I asked you about on that forum. I have found a dealer nearby that has both vehicles.

You miss the point of the advice, advertised or target prices for purchase often include different rebates and incentives than do leases, so the lease "purchase" price is often different than the best all-out purchase non-lease price. With some, there are different loyalty or other programs that further may not apply yet still show in target pricing. Finally, not all incentives or rebates "stack" so that you may combine them all for the same lease, even if they might stack for a purchase. You're likely trying to fit a square plug into round hole when you try to apply the target price data you read about to your situation. You need now to research how that target price got so low - there's not that kind of margin in car sales below invoice absent big rebates/incentives - and see which ones apply to the lease situation rather than to a purchase only. If it were possible for lease capitalized cost to be so low, you'd see others here showing it as such. Alas, not so. Adjust your expectations for the lease negotiations. Good luck.

Yes, you want to negotiate the price for a lease just like you would for a purchase, but there are different incentives. I would be up front about your desire to lease, so you get the correct pricing from the dealer.
