    Hey,

Can someone tell me if this deal is good on a 2018 C43 Convertible loaner that has 7k miles on it. Apparently a MF of .00147 is being used. Is that the base MF? What should the residual be? Zip 94109.

    Vehicle Price $63,420.00
    Savings - $11,420.00
    Price $52,000.00
    Sales Tax (estimate) + $4,950.35
    Documentation Fee + $80.00
    Weight Fee + $80.00
    Tag/Registration Fees (estimate) + $573.00
    Electronic Filing + $29.00
    Flat Add/County Fee + $11.00
    Smog Abatement Fee + $20.00
    Balance Due (estimate) $57,743.35

    Cash Due $0
    10k miles
    27 months $963
    36 months $808
    42 months $774

Thanks in advance for your help!

Base MF is .00072. 36 month residual is 53%.

There will be a significant adjustment to the residual to account for the 7000 miles, but we don't know the formula MB uses.

The prices listed are for a purchase - CA taxes the monthly payment. Ask them to provide you the CAP cost used for those payment quotes, and the residual value.
They came back with a base money factor. .00072. Residual is $32,941.80. Inception fees: $1496.43, these are waived. Cash down $0. Cap cost is $50,750 plus $1496.43? New monthly they're saying is $687. 36 months/10k miles. How does this look?
What does the $1496 represent? If I add that to the cap cost, and use the fixed residual amount, I get $651/mo assuming a 9% tax rate.

Confirm the CAP cost the dealer is using for that quote.

Just an inquiry from you, and the price drops by $120/mo.!! You have to like that.

With the base MF, and assuming 8% sales tax, CAP cost would have to be about $53,600

They've listed $793 in fees above. You'll also have $795 acquisition fee and the first payment rolled in, if it's truly ZERO due at signing. That's about $2300 total.
As you noted, the inceptions aren't really being waived. Just added to the Adjusted CAP cost.

I think you have a pretty good deal at $687/mo, with ZERO out of pocket.

Thanks for the feedback!! So some other sales person sold the car as I told my sales person I was ready to sign.... bummer.

    I'm now working a deal on a C43 Sedan.

    MSRP: $58,390
    Selling price: $52,678
    Money factor: 0.00097
    Residual: 53%
    Cash down: $650
    Monthly payment: 548+tax = $594
    DMV: $646
    Includes two maintenances

Does this look like a solid deal?

What is everyone getting as a discount (before any incentives) on a 2018 C300 sedan? The best around that I found was 12.5% off MSRP. With the $1250 credit, it's 15% off MSRP.

I received an offer from Miami, Florida 2018 C300w sedan. 36 months. 30,000 miles. Premium package and heated front seats. Black on black. No leather.

    MSRP. 44,095

Cap cost reduction. 5% off invoice. 2204.75

    ABA lawyer incentive 1,750

    Acquisition fee. 1,095

    Dealership fees. 795

    License. 175

    Elect process fee. 149

    Disposition fee 595

    Purchase option. 25,865.55 or 58.65%

    Money factor 2% or .0008

    There monthly lease is 557.45.

    Monthly tax @ 7% 39.02

    Their Total is $ 596.47

The salesperson said the MBFS 1250 léase incentive would not be available due to the Aba incentive.

What am I missing. Their calculation seems high.

My pen on paper calculation is 438.07 plus 30.66 tax. 468.73

    Thanks.

    A couple of thoughts:

    1. The residual is a whole number - unless this is demo or loaner vehicle?
    2. Acquisition fee is marked up from $795
    3. What is the selling price or adjusted CAP cost associated with their quote?
    4. How much is due at signing?

    My error.

This is neither a demo or loaner.

    The residual is 58%

I thought they increased the acq fee

    Sale price is 40,434

Just first month and license fee at signing. I assume they roll other fees into the monthly

The salesperson said the MBFS 1250 léase incentive would not be available due to the Aba incentive.

What am I missing. Their calculation seems high.

    Thanks.

    A couple of thoughts:

    1. The residual is a whole number - unless this is demo or loaner vehicle?
    2. Acquisition fee is marked up from $795
    3. What is the selling price or adjusted CAP cost associated with their quote?
    4. How much is due at signing?
    My error.

This is neither a demo or loaner.

    The residual is 58%

I thought they increased the acq fee

    Sale price is 40,434

Just first month and license fee at signing. I assume they roll other fees into the monthly
    I show .00052 and 57% for 36/10 on C300 RWD.

If I add the fees to the selling price, I get a payment of $513/mo plus tax

Could be one of two things:

    1. The CAP cost used by the dealer is higher than $42,324
    2. The MF is marked up from.00052

Ask the dealer for the numbers used in their payment calculations.

What do you think about this deal?
    MSRP: $43,445
    Cap Cost $37,750
    Dealer Incentive: -$1250
    Corporate Incentive -$500
    Total Adjusted Cap Cost: $36,000
    12K miles/Residual 56%,
MF (0.00062) - Being marked up by .00010
    Monthly Payment of $383.12
Fees and tax on fees: $708.82
    Acq Fee: $1095
Total Due at Sign: $2186.94 (incl. 1st month payment and acq fee)

Thoughts? I don't like the MF being marked up but I feel like this is still beating other dealers. I prefer paying acq fee at signing to save a little bit on interest.

With 6% tax, I'm just a couple of dimes off that payment quote.

The MF bump is negated by the big discount from sticker, before the incentives.

The interest you save by paying the acquisition fee up front would go away if the indescribable awful happens to the car during the lease.

Thank you for your response. The sales tax rate here is 7.75%. Originally, I did not ask him about the FEP $500 incentive. He told me that it would be: $404.92/mo. with $2210.74 drive off (incl. first month payment and acq fee). This math checks out on my end in my spreadsheet.

Then I asked him to include the $500 FEP incentive. He then came back with $380.17/mo payment?? The drive off now became $2183.99. Not much difference from the $2210.74 but the point is, I cannot figure how he arrived at the lower $380.17 per month ??

When I did my math, I went from $404.92 down to $389.62 (when I included a $500 incentive) and not his $380.17. I asked him to double check that math and he assured me his number is correct!?? So how can that be? Unless he either lowered the MF or it's not $500 off, it's actually $809 off. Putting in $809 in my spreadsheet gets me to $380.17/mo. Based on the numbers he's giving me, it doesn't seem like I'm getting taxed on the incentives. I remember BMW charges tax on dealer/mfg incentives? I guess Mercedes doesn't?

The state charges sales tax, not the manufacturer. Dealer discounts or incentives are not taxable. Consumer rebates are taxable.

Maybe, if you keep asking them, they can raise the payment back up to $389? :p

kyfdx - that's interesting to know. When my relatives bought the '18 BMW 3series, the dealer gave the $2000 "APR credit" which I assume came from the manufacturer. This "APR credit" was applied only after tax was collected on the cost of the car prior to the applying the credit. For example, if the car was $40K, the state collects the sales tax on $40K but the cap cost was actually $38k.

That's correct... but, the $2000 was a consumer rebate, so it was taxed (by not reducing the car price, before calculating tax).

The $1250 incentive is from Mercedes to the dealer. So, it's not a rebate. It just results in a lower price to the consumer (ergo, not taxed)
