so I will be buying out my 2017 Accord with 37k miles on it. Does a different warranty kick in( say 5 yr or 60k) once I finance the car? I assume the best extended warranty to get is Honda Care? Thanks

Saccucci Honda usually has best pricing on extended warranties. I would cross shop pricing with Bernardi Honda & Hyannis Honda care for best price. Make your local dealer match a best price elsewhere.

    $21,100 is market value price.

Your other option is using Swaplease . See if someone will take over remaining payments. If you put upfront $$ (down payment ) on lease you may not be able to recoup $$ unless you ask swap lease buyer to pay some of that money. You most likely wont get rid of vehicle if you ask for upfront $$$.

Honda doesn't allow lease assumptions, last time I checked.

Interesting info about catova8's experience with Tysons Honda and that dealership in general. We basically offered them that price a month ago and they said they could get no where near it and we have not heard from them since.

If you email the same dealers for pricing a few month straight you will notice some months dealers may be more aggressive in there pricing than others . It depends on there stock / sale #'s for that month.

End of the month negotiations and buying is a must, it gives the customer the best chance with dealer price leverage.

Call as many dealers your willing to travel to in NY & NJ, asking each dealer for there lowest price. NY doc fee's are only $75. NJ doc's are high . you could do better on price. Folks in this forum got close to if not over the 2k below invoice price in may/ june. Read back prior pages for info

So, I called dealerships near my home and asked for $21,000 which would be $3,483 below the invoice price of Honda Accord 2018 Sport. (not OTD) Do you think it is a reasonable price to start with? I am aiming for 3k below invoice as you mentioned some people already got 2k below invoice in prior months. I am paying in cash..

Let your targeted dealers know you will finance part of sale if it helps you get closer to your target price. Pay off loan when you get 1st loan payment.

o for a 2018 Accord 1.5 Sport the goal is a minimum of $2K off invoice INCLUDING destination?

So invoice = $24,483 (w/destination), so $22,483 PLUS taxes and Fees. Most initial offers seem to be at $22,250 PLUS destination.

    That make sense?

No need to separate destination fee from pricing. It gives you the false sense you are getting a good deal on the price. Everyone who buys a car pays a destination fee. With the Accord it is about $890/$895.

From Honda's website, MSRP for the 2018 Sport 1.5T is $26,675 with $895 destination fee. You are correct about the invoice price.

Aim for $2k below invoice pricing, but be prepared to adjust your expectations. If your local dealers are not giving you any decent offers on a soon to be 1-year old car, expand your search radius or reach out to out of state dealers. You can also inquire about pricing on a 2019 model.

    Good luck.

Do you have information regarding target pricing on a new 2018 Honda Accord 1.5 Touring? I have seen lots of valuable information for the EXL, but can't find anything for the Touring. I am in Dallas area looking to start sending about 10 emails out soon to dealers asking for their best offer for an end of the month purchase to try for the best deal. Can you confirm invoice price or any previous purchase prices? I see Honda has $1,500 Flex cash for the Touring, $500 for Military, and 1.9% financing for good credit. MSRP is listed at $34,690. Costco lists the invoice on the 2018 1.5 Touring as $31,799 and their recommended price is $28,542 (no further info regarding whats included).

If you read through previous posts, you would notice that listing OTD pricing is not helpful if you want folks to break down your deal and provide feedback.

Please go back and read some of my posts regarding the info needed to analyze your deal. Btw, if you are purchasing in MA the sales tax is 6.25%.

    Purchasing in MA
    Sport 2.0 $26508
Tax $1858 based on RI tax (I thought that's what I would have to pay on with an out of state purchase)
    Doc fee $459

    Total $29000

To all & you @TJH13 with accord 2018 pricing @2107 below invoice price excluding high doc fee charges. I would wait and negotiate a better price thru this month . See where pricing for a 2019 Accord is in your area. Tell selling & all dealers you will consider buying a 2019 model if dealers meet your $450 below Invoice price. Make dealer give you there lowest price for a 2019 model before you commit to a 2018 model. Do not rush buying this month.

Dec. ( the last few days) is the Super-Bowl of car buying You will make your best deal right at the very end of this month.
Remember buying a 2018 model in Dec. If your vehicle is totaled or stolen the depreciation hit on Jan, 1, 2019 will be thousands more than your 2018 discount @1648 below Invoice price. . Just something to think about.

If I was ready to buy this month .

I would also be targeting the 2019 model for Invoice price minus dealers doc fee charge. In your case in RI ( @450 below invoice price ) A excellent price bought in 2018 . \

    If I couldn't get a 2019 at $450 below invoice price I would still consider a 19 Accord over a 2018 Accord for Invoice price plus doc's .. still a better deal than a 18 model at 2k below invoice minus another 450 in doc fee's .

If I'm not getting 3k and under below invoice on a 2018 model.... I'm making my best deal on a 2019 !

    bought 2018 accord exl 2.0t

26462 before tax (6%), $1500 incentive included when financed

    28050 OTD (PA)

is this a good deal? it had 28 miles on it and had some spider webs on side mirrors (assuming its been sitting on the lot for > 9 months). Obviously they detailed everything before driving off the lot.

Just to clarify, was the sale price ($26462 + $1500) $27,962 before any incentives? If that is the case, it puts your deal at more than $2100 below invoice before any incentives. What were your dealer doc fees?

    Congrats.

I did not even care about how much each fee is lol according to the paperwork, doc fee was $389. When I ask dealers for price I just ask for OTD. I guess some fees are taxable and some are not. I only focused on bottom dollar I was gonna pay after tax. When you say $2100 below invoice before incentive, does it mean it was good deal?

    to break it down.

27109.43 total taxable amt (sales tax 1626.57)

total price I paid after tax and fees was 29550

    so 29550 - 28736 = 814 fees

    29550 - 1500 incentive = 28050 OTD

I guess my first post was bit misleading because I just subtracted 6% from OTD price not knowing fees were not taxable.

It may not be realistic on an EX-L since it is not the most expensive Accord, unlike the Touring. Your best bet is to start getting online quotes from dealers. It will help you get an idea what pricing is like in your area.

As some (including me) have suggested, you should also get pricing on a 2019 model. That 2018 model is going to depreciate quite a bit once it is January 1st 2019.

    Good luck.

@lucky1man - You should easily be getting quotes close to 2k below invoice for this model. That is before any available incentives. If you plan to finance the car through Honda, there might be additional incentives available.

When you reach out to dealers, ask about incentives for financing such as Flex cash (money Honda dishes out to dealers, and in turn dealers offer those incentives to us).

If you plan to buy a 2018 model this month, just make sure the discount is worth the depreciation hit vs a 2019 model.

Post back when you start getting quotes from dealers. Do not waste your time and walk into a dealership to negotiate pricing. Do everything via email or phone first. You can even fill out a credit application online.

There is a ton of info on this forum, so read up on some of the tactics others have used to land a good deal.

Please critique my email that i plan to send to dealers. Should i ask them their best price or tell them my price?
The 18 Accord price is 3k below invoice, and the 19 Accord price is 500 below invoice. I think that's what one of the experts recommended on 19's. Thanks in advance.

    **Sample Email**

I’m interested in a leasing a new Accord Sport 2.0. I’m looking for the following deals at the end of the month. I am currently in a Honda Lease and will be trading my 2017 Honda Accord Sport SE, with 42k miles.

    2018 Accord Sport 2.0

Is there an identified problem with the 1.5 in the Touring to make them discontinue it so soon? Why discontinue?

FYI the 1.5 touring will no longer be available in 2019, just the 2.0 touring
Not sure why but they did have to add incentives to move the large amounts they had on thier lots. " if they came out with a 2019 touring 1.5 they would be competing with themselves so they made it an endangered species like they did with the 6 cyl accords last year

    Hello all,

I want to buy Honda Accord LX base model MSRP (24.465)

I am in Daytona beach area.

What best discount can I expect off the MSRP (20%)?

current dealer is offering 10% msrp (22,000-price)

Let me know if it is good or should I bargain for more?

    Thank you!

    MSRP 31,205
    Invoice 27,720

    My target Price $24.720 + 895 = $25,615. (soon to be a 1 year old vehicle)

    Or

    2019 Accord Sport 2.0

    MSRP 31,605
    Invoice 28,086

    My target price $27,586 +895 = 28,481

I prefer to work out all deals thru email before visiting dealership.

Ask them what their best price is. BTW, pricing of $3k below invoice is not on all '18 Accords.

    A few words of advice:
    1. Leave your current lease out of the equation. Are you turning in your current lease early? Why?
    2. Find a car on a dealer's lot that has all the options you like and inquire about pricing.
    3. No need to list out MSRP and invoice pricing in your email.
This is what I would suggest in your sample email:

    Hi,

I am looking for pricing on a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0 (stock # XXXX). Could you list out the following information:
    • Sale price before any incentives
    • Incentives for financing and leasing (not military or recent grad - unless you qualify for both)
    • Documentation fees
    • Title and registration fees
Reach out to as many dealerships as possible.

You can post in the lease forum to request numbers for MF and RV: https://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/48615/honda/accord/2018-honda-accord-lease-deals-and-prices#latest. You can use those numbers to calculate your monthly payment from there.

Note: If you are turning in your current lease early, be advised that any remaining payments will be rolled into your new lease. Hence, I would not recommend doing that, IMO.

    Good luck.

@Chad2586 - Once you start getting responses and pricing information from dealerships, you can inform them you are looking to lease the car for X years/XX miles per year. It is always best never to put any money down when leasing since it masks the true cost of the payment. If car is totaled/stolen, you lose all that money you put down.

The experts recommend paying the first month's payment and all fees (acquisition, doc fee, title and registration) at signing (DAS - Due At Signing).

Have you figured out what your payoff amount is on your current lease? If not, contact HFS.

@bluemkn57cars Man i'm so glad i reached out on here first. I had no clue that the remaining payments would be rolled into the new loan, that would be about $2200 for me. I'm already over my miles by about 6k. (36k lease)

So i'm guessing for my situation it would be best to just finish the lease, and pay the over mileage fees?

I have about 9 payments to go, and i will probably be close to 50k miles. The reason is, my job has changed, and i'm driving a ton more, but recently acquired another vehicle to offset the miles.

    My payoff is $17447

Thank you so much for the valuable advise. Feel free to comment further.

    Here are your options:
    - Turn in the car at the end of the lease and pay the overage mileage fees.
    - Turn in the car and lease another Honda (not sure if HFS will forgive the overage fees. You could look into that).
    - Buy out the car at the end of the lease ( You will have to run numbers and find out if it will be worth it).

Thanks very much for your reply. I'm in Los Angeles county. I contacted 50 dealers. The best offer I get for 2018 Honda Accord is OTD price 23400 (about 1500 under invoice price.)price. I'm targeting 23K OTD (about 2000 under invoice price).price.

All dealers claim they don't have any flex cash incentives for the LX model. I also checked the 2019 Accord LX price. All dealers do not want to give any discount except one dealer offers 2K below MSRP.

If at the end I get 2K below invoice for 2018 LX,and 2K below MSRP for 2019 LX. Whcih one is more valuable? Thanks.

A 2019 LX Accord with a $2000 Off MSRP = $24,615 puts you at close to Invoice price which is $22,605.

The 2019 model is your best deal. If you negotiate at the very end of the month you will do better than a price given today.

I'm looking into getting a 2018 accord hybrid touring and this is what the dealer quoted me in Houston, TX:

    Internet Price: 30,080
Price with their "forced" accessories: 31,672
    Dest: 895
    Salestax: 2035.44
    InvTax: 71.91
    Title: 33
    Inspec: 23.75
    Licen: 133.50
    Doc: 189
    Out the door Price: $35,063.60

It seems kind of high considering it's pretty much end of the year and 2019 is a few weeks away. What do you guys think?
