On Tuesday (Oct 30) I picked up a 1.5T Sport with security package in lunar silver for $21,829 for an out the door price of $24,700 (included tax, tags, registration, $895 destination and $300 doc fee). This was in Bethesda, MD (outside Washington, DC).
Congrats. To be clear, your sale price was $21,829 + $895 = $22,724. What was the cost of the security package? Were there any incentives included in your deal?

What's a good price to pay (excluding taxes/title/license for a 2018 1.5T Sport?
I went to a local dealership in Louisiana today after getting a quote from a different dealership in Dallas, TX. The dealership in TX quoted me $22,750 plus tax and fees, but did not specify the fees and I haven't heard back from them yet. The dealership in LA quoted me $25,488 plus $599 for floor mats and a trunk tray. I told them the dealership in TX quoted me $22,750 and they essentially said "that's impossible, that's less than we pay for the car." They insisted that the TX dealership attaches accessories and does not include that in the quoted price for the car. I've read tons of message on this forum and no one seems to mention that they paid "$XX,XXX for the car, $X,XXX for ACCESSORIES, $XXX doc fee, and $X,XXX taxes." It seems like people here just mention how much they pay for the car and how much they pay for docs and taxes. Since states have different tax rates, I just want to know what a reasonable price to pay for this car is minus taxes. Should I expect to have to pay for unwanted accessories? If the answer is no, then how DO dealerships sell a car for less than the "invoice price" listed online and still make it profit if you don't have to buy unwanted accessories?
Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance.
The short answer - Pricing varies from state to state, as you have seen. There are also other factors such as dealer inventory, incentives offered, and time of the year.
Since you have not heard back from the TX dealership, contact another dealership who will be upfront with you about their doc fees, tags, etc...
You should not pay for unwanted accessories if you do not want them on your car. Some dealers install all kinds of accessories to pad their profit margin. Tell a dealer you are looking for a car without any accessories.
No one really knows the true cost a dealership pays for a car. At the end of the day, if dealer A is prepared to sell you a car for $XX,XXX, they are not going to be losing money on the deal.
Invoice pricing listed online is supposed to show how much a dealer is paying for a car from the manufacturer. However, since manufacturers have dealer-only incentives that are not passed onto buyers like us, the true invoice price is much less than what is listed online. Invoice (listed online) for this car is about $24.4k. You should be able to get a sale price somewhere between $1500 to $2k below invoice pricing (before any fees). However, you are going to have to reach out to as many dealerships and travel out state if dealers in LA do not want to play ball.
Hope this info helps. Good luck.

bluemkn57cars - thanks for outlining what others should post when listing their deals. I have been lurking for some time and recall you recommending some dealers in MA but can't seem to find it. I am on the MA/RI border so either state works for me. Could you post your dealer recommendations in my area? Thank you

I would recommend Honda Cars of Boston in Everett. I bought my first Accord there more than 5 years ago. The buying process was smooth. There was no bait and switch.
On the other hand, avoid Prime Honda in West Roxbury. They are dishonest and play too many games.
Good luck.

I was told the package cost $895, but this was not itemized for me, so I assume it may have been baked into the MSRP which was around $26,700. The dealer was offering $4200 off MSRP as a starting price, for a "car only" price of $22,500, which I negotiated from. I did not receive any other promotions or discounts, but did receive 2.9% APR like everyone else.
Thank you bluemkn57cars for your response. I have exchanged emails with Ian from Prime Honda...very, very rude...so no interest in dealing with them. I believe Colonial in Dartmouth, MA is pretty good as well. I spotted a 2016 new EX-L there and received a quote of 25,580. I seem to recall some pricing on here around that same number for a 2018. Shouldn't there be a much lower price than that for something that has been sitting on the lot for almost 3 years? I don't care about the year of the vehicle, just that it is new, so thought I might be able to get better pricing on a 2016. Thoughts... (Also, not sure if I am responding to previous post - still having some trouble navigating this site). Thanks again.

Regarding pricing on the NEW 2016 Accord, unfortunately I will not be able to help. Some Honda dealers can be "funny" with pricing on older models or used cars. They treat some of these cars like gold.
If you get pricing on a 2018 model, feel free to share it with us so that we can analyze the deal. I have never dealt with Colonial Honda in Dartmouth.
You might have luck dealing with some of the high volume dealers such as Boch Honda and Herb Chambers. However, they may not always offer the lowest price. Their doc fees are around $460 vs $400 for most dealers in MA.
Good luck.

I bought an EXL V6 in 2016 from Colonial for $25,300. It was just totaled on me which is why I picked up the 2018 EXL 2.0t. Before buying the 2018 I was shopping left over V6 Accords. I also inquired about the White 2016 EXL V6 at Colonial and they quoted me $24,727 on the 31st which is not even $600 less than what I paid more than 2 years ago for the identical car. I called Boch about a Black 2017 EXL V6, they wouldn't even quote me a price and tried to interest me in a 2018. Grieco Honda in RI has a handful of 17 Tourings which they want 30K+ for. I called them and told them I wanted to buy one that day, but not for 30k, they made no further offers over the phone. I was pretty shocked at how uninterested dealers seemed when I was on the line telling them I wanted to buy their 16/17 V6 Accord....
Anyone here in OKC area, I'm planning to buy Honda Accord EX-L 2018 model. I went to one of the dealers and they insisted to reduce the price. After long conversations with the sales manager, reduced price is 27500 including 299 documentation fees and no package installed, not including taxes. Could you suggest any dealers in OKC area? Or is it better to buy the vehicle in Texas state?

If a dealer has already held on to the 2016 model for two years, I think that pretty much tells you that they aren't making any deals on that car.
Hello. What's a good price for a 2018/2019 honda accord sports trim 1.5. I'm a recent college grad and working my first full time job. I can put down $10,000. How much can I expect to pay monthly? What would be the best way to approach these dealers, and what price can I expect? Does 25k out the door sound reasonable? I'm in the orange county area in california. I also have access to a credit union, willing to take off .50% off apr. And I also have a costco membership for their auto program. I'm also looking to purchase by next weekend.
The 2019 Accords started bieng shipped to dealers on Nov 1. The car remains much like the 2018's except for price. They will no longer be offering the 1.5 t model in the touring trim surprisingly
I recently sold my 2015 Honda Accord Coupe V6 EXL and am in the market for a 2018 Accord 2.0T Sport trim.. the best internet quote I've gotten so far is $26,432 before taxes and registration, but that dealership is notorious for adding a boatload of dealer accessories (wheel locks, protection packages, etc) which you don't find out until arriving in person and will add another few thousand to the price.
Another place is $27,300 with no additional fees for accessories so the OTD price is probably ~$30K. Is that fair? I'd imagine they'd want to get rid of the 2018s soon with the 2019s coming out.
Looks like most of current dealer is offering 12% off MSRP. I am working for 18% off but so far all rejected.
I guess 15% off is reasonable?
How are you coming up with these percentages? Good luck getting a new Accord for 18% off MSRP. Where are you located? What trim are you looking at? Why not just post the MSRP and sale price you have received for the car you want to buy? This info will be more helpful that %. My $0.02.

I’m looking for new 2018 Accord Sedan LX 1.5T. I’m in Los Angeles County. The MSRP including destination fee is 24465. The best offer I get (looks the best at the beginning) is 4031 discount, or 20434 base price. This price does not look bad to me. But the dealer claims that all cars have the security package and protection package, which cost $1990. This extra charge makes the discount not attractive anymore. Is it possible to negotiate with them to waive the $1990 accessories charge? If I’m able to get a before tax price $20434, is it a good enough price?

Thanks for the advice. But I checked with lots of dealers already. All of them claimed that they don’t have any base cars. Is it true that dealers don’t have base cars? Or most base cars have been sold already? Or some dealers are actually willing to sell the non-base car at a base car price minus the discount they claim?

Where are you located? What state? If your local dealers do not want to sell you a car without any accessories then reach out to out of state dealers.
If you really want to buy a specific car that already has add-ons you do not want, you can negotiate pricing for those add-ons (at least 50% off the quoted price) or try my first suggestion.

Sounds like an awesome deal. Just goes to show, the invoice price is just a made up number. Even Truecar is a scam to make you feel you have a good deal. They're just getting commission from the dealers.
I'm looking to buy a 1.5T EX-L in Upstate NY (capital region near Albany). Anyone have any possibilities for prices? I'd be open to a 2.0T in an EX-L also.
I stopped at a local dealership this weekend and the "lowest" they were willing to go on a 1.5T was invoice at $27.3k. I was offered $26.7k in the spring at the same dealership. It's the end of the model year for crying out loud and 2019s are on the lot.

I currently reside in VA where there are many honda dealers near me. I am very interested in leasing the 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Touring. I already have the information regarding the MF and RV but have a question regarding the selling price.
The MSRP for the 1.5T Touring is $34,695 ($33,800 + $895). With how many dealers there are and how many they have left in the inventory, I want to ask the dealers for a selling price of $27,000 - $27,500. Can someone let me know if that is reasonable asking price?

Go for it .....You don't know unless you ask. Send out email blasts , make calls to your dealerships with your asking price to lease include your credit score . If dealerships know your ready to lease or buy you should get there bottom line number . I got almost 2k below my 18 sport models invoice in June. I see no reason why another 1k maybe more cant be had with over stocked 2108 inventory . Good Luck

Msrp - 28360
E-price - 25020
Dealer doc fee - 499
Nj state tax - 6.625%
Nj state tire tax - 7.5
Nj dmv - 411
Protection package - 449
So total OTD is 28107
$447 per month for 72 months.
Do let me know if this is a good deal? Time is of essence.
Terrible deal. Good thing you asked for advice. The sale price is only $1000 below invoice before incentives. Get rid of the protection package. How was the $500 student discount applied? No incentives from Honda such as Flex cash? NJ doc fees tend be high. Have you tried reaching out to dealers in NY, where doc fees are lower and capped?
You can do better.

Yea I have a good credit score, I am not aware about the interest rates. But I just got a call from another dealer saying he will beat this price, he said I have to come to their dealership. They can pick me up even though its 30 minutes away. Thanks for your prompt response.
I can get rid of protection package and the student discount was used as a downpayment. No talks yet of flex cash, I am going there on Friday hopefully to get some black Friday deals. No I have not looked at NY dealers yet.
By your experience could you guide me how much lower could I go with the OTD price?

Yea I have a good credit score, I am not aware about the interest rates. But I just got a call from another dealer saying he will beat this price, he said I have to come to their dealership. They can pick me up even though its 30 minutes away. Thanks for your prompt response.
I can get rid of protection package and the student discount was used as a downpayment. No talks yet of flex cash, I am going there on Friday hopefully to get some black Friday deals. No I have not looked at NY dealers yet.

First off, you are making a BIG mistake if you do not know the finance interest rate being offered. All you have to do is ask the dealer. If you say you have a good credit score, you should get the best rate offered for the term of the loan. If the dealer is not being forthcoming, move onto another one.
Do not waste your time going to the other dealership that is claiming they will beat this offer. Did they tell you exactly how much they are offering? $100 less than your best offer? Tell them if they want your business, to beat this price by at least $500 else you are not coming into the dealership. You should ask every dealer you contact whether they have flex cash. It is an incentive offered by Honda to dealers, who normally pass it on to consumers (us).
From my experience, you need to reach out to more dealers and expand your search area to get the best pricing. Read up on some of the tactics others have used to get a good deal on an Accord. It takes time, research and some work on your part.
Good luck.

Thank you so much sir! Btw the interest rates comes to around 4.6% and as what you're saying I will try to bring it down as much as possible.
@Parag27 - Take a look at Honda's finance rates on their website. They are offering 2.9% APR up to 72 months on certain trims. Hence, with your excellent credit you should get a better rate than more than 4%.

Yesterday (11/20/2018) I Purchased a Red 2018 Accord 2.0T EX-L w/o Navi in Atlanta, GA. No trade.
MSRP (with dest) $32,860.00 Purchase Price Price $26,150.00 Doc Fee $687.00 (Average in Atlanta Area) Total Purchase $26,837.00 Tax $1991.50 Title and License $153.00
Total Out the Door $28,981.50
I got a $1000 rebate from financing through Honda Financial Services (1.9%). No other incentives I know of. As per Edmunds, Invoice plus destination on this model is $30,325. Dealer wanted to include several options but I got all of them removed. Finally I had to haggle a lot with the dealer to get this price.

A few months ago some folks in the group were given excellent quotes and deals @ DCH academy honda. If possible you might want to check out some of the Pa. dealerships as thier doc fees are much less. I bought mine at honda of Turnersville in south jersey but that might be a long distance for you

Good luck.
MSRP (listed on window sticker)
Sale price with the destination fee (excluding incentives)
Cost of accessories (if any)
Incentives (such as Flex cash)
Dealer doc fees
On the other hand, avoid Prime Honda in West Roxbury. They are dishonest and play too many games.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Please guys, help me.

Another place is $27,300 with no additional fees for accessories so the OTD price is probably ~$30K. Is that fair? I'd imagine they'd want to get rid of the 2018s soon with the 2019s coming out.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
I guess 15% off is reasonable?
Where are you located? What trim are you looking at?
Why not just post the MSRP and sale price you have received for the car you want to buy? This info will be more helpful that %.
My $0.02.
Thanks.
You got an actual quote for $22,424.
The first number turned out to be a lie.

If you really want to buy a specific car that already has add-ons you do not want, you can negotiate pricing for those add-ons (at least 50% off the quoted price) or try my first suggestion.
Good luck.

Do you think it is a good offer? I’m targeting $500 lower than this offer. Is it reasonable?
thanks very much.

I got a $1500 rebate from financing through Honda Financial Services (1.9%) which I plan to pay off in 30 days. No other incentives I know of. I believe invoice plus destination on this model is $31,042. Came with mudguards and wheel locks already installed (included in price). Easy transaction and reputable dealership.
Thanks for your help and information!
Purchased from Freeman Honda, Dallas TX - same dealership as 2007.
2018 Accord EX-L 1.5. 6/18 manufacture date 26 miles on odometer.
MSRP w/destination $30,865.00
Car had std. dealer add-ons wheel locks, door guard, pin stripes, splash guards, tinted windows, trunk tray.
We had rubber floor mats included in purchase.
Selling price 26,343.81,
With tax, title, doc fee, etc. OTD price was 28,400.00 - no financing
Assume dealer received 1,000 factory to dealer incentive.
I may have left money on the table, but it was a painless transaction and so far, happy with car.

The MSRP for the 1.5T Touring is $34,695 ($33,800 + $895). With how many dealers there are and how many they have left in the inventory, I want to ask the dealers for a selling price of $27,000 - $27,500. Can someone let me know if that is reasonable asking price?
Thanks.
when you ask for zip codes is that where your buying the car from or where you live?
But, for Honda, the numbers are national.
