I'm looking into getting a 2018 accord hybrid touring and this is what the dealer quoted me in Houston, TX:

    Internet Price: 30,080
Price with their "forced" accessories: 31,672
    Dest: 895
    Salestax: 2035.44
    InvTax: 71.91
    Title: 33
    Inspec: 23.75
    Licen: 133.50
    Doc: 189
    Out the door Price: $35,063.60

It seems kind of high considering it's pretty much end of the year and 2019 is a few weeks away. What do you guys think?

    $31672+$895+$189 = $32756

    That's the real price.
    What is the MSRP?

I'm looking to buy a new car at the end of December. I really like the 2.0t sport. How low should I go? The best internet offer that I got is 27740 before tax. Tax is 8.7% here in Washington state.

Please critique my email that i plan to send to dealers. Should i ask them their best price or tell them my price? The 18 Accord price is 3k below invoice, and the 19 Accord price is 500 below invoice. I think that's what one of the experts recommended on 19's. Thanks in advance. **Sample Email** I’m interested in a leasing a new Accord Sport 2.0. I’m looking for the following deals at the end of the month. I am currently in a Honda Lease and will be trading my 2017 Honda Accord Sport SE, with 42k miles. 2018 Accord Sport 2.0 MSRP 31,205 Invoice 27,720 My target Price $24.720 + 895 = $25,615. (soon to be a 1 year old vehicle) Or 2019 Accord Sport 2.0 MSRP 31,605 Invoice 28,086 My target price $27,586 +895 = 28,481 I prefer to work out all deals thru email before visiting dealership.
Ask them what their best price is. BTW, pricing of $3k below invoice is not on all '18 Accords. A few words of advice:
    1. Leave your current lease out of the equation. Are you turning in your current lease early? Why?
    2. Find a car on a dealer's lot that has all the options you like and inquire about pricing.
    3. No need to list out MSRP and invoice pricing in your email.
This is what I would suggest in your sample email: Hi, I am looking for pricing on a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0 (stock # XXXX). Could you list out the following information:
    • Sale price before any incentives
    • Incentives for financing and leasing (not military or recent grad - unless you qualify for both)
    • Documentation fees
    • Title and registration fees
Reach out to as many dealerships as possible. You can post in the lease forum to request numbers for MF and RV: https://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/48615/honda/accord/2018-honda-accord-lease-deals-and-prices#latest. You can use those numbers to calculate your monthly payment from there. Note: If you are turning in your current lease early, be advised that any remaining payments will be rolled into your new lease. Hence, I would not recommend doing that, IMO. Good luck.
For 2018 Accord LX, how much below invoice do you think I can get this month? Now I get some offers with 1500 below invoice. Should I expect 2000 below invoice? Thanks.
You can aim for $2k below invoice, but you area's pricing will dictate the final price. Ask dealers whether there any available incentives such as Flex cash.

How many dealers have you reached out to? Where are you located? Have you inquired about pricing on a 2019 model?

You can tell dealers that $2k below invoice plus any available incentives gets your business today on a 2018 LX (Only do this if you actually plan to sign the deal within 24 hours).

    Good luck.
Thanks very much for your reply. I'm in Los Angeles county. I contacted 50 dealers. The best offer I get for 2018 Honda Accord is OTD price 23400 (about 1500 under invoice price.)price. I'm targeting 23K OTD (about 2000 under invoice price).price.

All dealers claim they don't have any flex cash incentives for the LX model. I also checked the 2019 Accord LX price. All dealers do not want to give any discount except one dealer offers 2K below MSRP.

If at the end I get 2K below invoice for 2018 LX,and 2K below MSRP for 2019 LX. Whcih one is more valuable? Thanks.
.............................................................................................................................................................................................. A 2019 LX Accord with a $2000 Off MSRP = $24,615 puts you at close to Invoice price which is $22,605. The 2019 model is your best deal. If you negotiate at the very end of the month you will do better than a price given today.
Thanks very much for the advice.

I emailed probably 12 dealers, a few responded but they didn't share their pricing right from the start. So i'm still working with them. One salesman tried to do 2k under invoice but said, it was rare they would go that low, and offered to shoot for $1250 below invoice.

The dealer i bought my current honda from, came back at 28,205 (i know not even invoice) and they don't seem to be budging much. My options were to finance $0 down 60 mo @ 536-546, or lease 36/15 @ 436-446

    Here's the deal below

    MSRP 31205
    Savings 3000
    Adj Cap Cost 28205
    wheel locks 99
    trade 17000
    trade diff 11304
    taxes 357.09
    Admin fee 599
    DMV 109
    filing fee 12.00
    pay off trade 17447
    total loan amount 29828

So what do you all think?

Is this for a 2018 Sport 2.0? I would run from this dealership. They are pretty much quoting you close to invoice pricing (maybe a few hundred dollars below invoice). They are also overcharging you for wheel locks and the doc fee is pretty high. You could expand your search radius and reach out to more dealerships towards the end of the year, but I would not buy a 2018 Sport for less than $2k below invoice plus flex cash, IMO.

As I stated in my previous post, I would not include your current lease in the deal. My initial suggestion still stands - You are better off keeping your current lease instead of trying to get into a new car now.

Did you find out whether Honda offers any overage mileage forgiveness if you get into a new lease?

    Good luck.

@bluemkn57cars so I called Honda and they stated the following:

I will not be charged for over mileage fees if the dealer buys the vehicle. They suggested to not turn in.

I will I’ll not be charged for remaining payments, if I trade. I will only be charged the difference of the trade.(negative equity) She stated the payoff was actually 17k.

So so I feel a little better about it now.

So if the dealer buys your car today, there will be no mileage overage fees? You will still be rolling over some negative equity into your new lease.

Anyway, good luck and keep us posted what you decide to do.

Yes! I'm finding out there are a ton of 18 sport 2.0s and dealers aren't letting them go easily.

    Here's what I got offered.

2018 Accord EX with wheel locks, mud guards, door edge guards, nitro (which I have no clue what that is) and interior/exterior sealant (with 3 yr interior/exterior warranty for stains, tears, paint abnormalities [like hard water staining but chips, scratches, dents not covered])

$24,885 freight included. Plus $699 processing, tax and tags. 1.9% for 36 months.

I think this deal is pretty solid. Thoughts? I always negotiate strictly on the car (price and/or add accessories) never OTD; I just pay close attention to what's below price and above OTD.

I am having trouble posting so apologies if this is not in the proper location.
Could someone provide information on the current incentives available for purchasing an EX-L. (Not eligible for grad or military). I've heard about flex cash, hidden cash and am a little confused. Want to be sure I understand my options before going to dealership. Also think I heard something about $1,000 cash back if you finance with HFS. Thank you

My offer for 2018 Accord EX-L -- MSRP 30,865 - 5,359 = 25,506 (does not include fees, taxes, incentives, etc) So, based on bluemkn57cars's recommendation of targeting 3K below invoice on 2018, I should shoot for 24,410? (I believe invoice is 27,410).
How do I work any rebates, incentives into the negotiation? Would they be part of that 3K below invoice target or in addition to that?

@bluemkn57cars Yes, I recall you saying that. It appears that the 1k dealer cash is already included in the quote of 25,506. Once I asked about it, she said, oh, yes that is included. However, also told the 300 dealer incentive requiring HFS was included; however, I didn't say I was financing. Looks like the only decrease in price would come from the Honda Holiday Loyalty discount of 750 if financed with HFS. I'm dealing with Herb Chambers in Seekonk and they are not known for discounting their pricing. So, I guess my question is...is 25,506 a good selling price for 2018 Accord EX-L, along with the 750 discount? That would put me at 24,756 which is 2,654 below invoice (27,410-2,654 = 24,756) Do these numbers look right? All other fees, taxes, etc. would be on top of this price. Thanks for your knowledge and help.

That's good though. Here in Washington stae, there are so many 2.0t sport on the lot, and the lowest I can get is 27740. Most dealer won't even go below 28000. So otd is like 31k. Only one of them go for 27740 and they won't go any lower.

A few questions before we can properly analyze your deal:

    1. Are you leasing or financing?
    2. What is the sale price before any rebates/incentives? (When I request a quote from a dealer, I always ask that question)
    3. Did you ask the dealer about all the rebates you are including in your price? I have never heard of any Loyalty incentive from Honda (the $750 you referred to). The only incentive I am aware of is Flex cash.

Pre-rebate, any sale price of $2k below invoice for this car is a decent deal. The higher the discount the better the deal this time of the year.

Financing. Sale price is 26,806 - 1000 (dealer cash) - 300 (dealer incentive requiring HFS) = 25,506 (price quoted). After reading your message, probably not such a great deal then. Invoice 27,410 - 26,806 = 604 (below invoice). I think that is correct.
Here is the info on the $750 (seems to be available for all trims)

I would suggest contacting the dealer directly about this loyalty rebate. So you are leasing then?

    Good luck with your search.

Oh wait - is that the correct invoice price for 2018 Accord EX-L - 27,410? Or do I have to add the 895 destination charge? If so, that would make my deal 1,499 below invoice pre-rebates - 28,305 - 26,806 = 1,499. If that is correct, 26,806 - 1000 -300 - 750 = 24,756 - final price below docs, taxes, fees, etc.

@bluemkn57cars No, I am going to purchase. Lease deals are just not that great. So I just want to know if my numbers above reflect a good deal. Quote was $25,506 (includes 1000 + 300 discounts/rebates). Dealer just confirmed that the $750 rebate is applicable too. So after that, price would be 24,756.
    (1,499 below invoice before rebates).

I’m shopping around for a 2018 2.0t Sport for a friend of mine.  And I can’t believe how tight they’re with these cars; the calendar is about to flip and the ‘19’s are already on the lot, yet they refuse to go below $3500 MSRP on an 18 Sport 2.0t.  I’ve reached out to handful of dealerships in NJ and so far its been a rough go.

    Just a side note, I’m a proud owner of a 1.5t Touring.

I'm looking into getting a 2018 hoaccord hybrid touring and this is what the dealer quoted me in Houston, TX: Internet Price: 30,080 Price with their "forced" accessories: 31,672 Dest: 895 Salestax: 2035.44 InvTax: 71.91 Title: 33 Inspec: 23.75 Licen: 133.50 Doc: 189 Out the door Price: $35,063.60 It seems kind of high considering it's pretty much end of the year and 2019 is a few weeks away. What do you guys think?
Phizzle, I'm also in houston and it seems like no dealership here is willing to go below invoice price for 2018 or 2019.

However, I did find only one dealership that did not add any upgrades to their cars- Honda of Spring. All other dealerships in the city and surrounding areas come with upgrades already installed in their vehicles which forces you to pay extra.

Let me know if you find something below invoice.

This is a quote I received for 2018 and 2019 Accord Sport 1.5T. Please advise if this is a good price. It seems no dealers within Houston are selling below invoice price. I've contacted all of them in the houston area.

What do you suggest I say during negotiation to get them to lower the price?

    Sorry, couldn't attach 2 files.

This is the quote for 2019 Accord Sport 1.5T

    Here's where I landed:

2018 Accord EX with wheel locks, mud guards, door edge guards, nitrogen filled tires and interior/exterior sealant (with 3 yr interior/exterior warranty for stains, tears, paint abnormalities [like hard water staining but chips, scratches, dents not covered])

Plus I complained about the fact that the back up camera has no audible alert and got the OEM sensors put on for $500!!!

$25,335 freight included. Plus $699 processing, tax and tags. 1.9% for 36 months.

My research has told me that this was a REALLY good deal.

I just went ahead and went to Gillman and got the touring for 31800.27 which included destination and had a trade in worth $4k which made the price 27800.27 before TTL. Price came out to 30k OTD. Probably could of haggled a little bit more if I walked out, but I got tired of going back and forth with all these dealers and my car was breaking down so 4k for my trade-in was really good.

No incentives. I'm not eligible for any student or military incentive. And they don't provide flex cash or rebates on the LX.

The LX has a $900 Honda-to-dealer incentive, that helps lower the selling price.

Probably they already considered this incentive in the price. The sale price is almost 4K under MSRP. I don’t expect lower price.

    Thoughts on this deal?

    30,865.00 MSRP
    - 4,759.00
    26,106.00 Sales price
    - 800.00 Flex cash
    - 750.00 Honda Holiday Loyalty discount
    24,556.00 Adjusted sales price

    Docs - 459
    RI Reg and title 155

Is tax calculated on the sales price before or after flex cash and discount?

What year and model is this for?
Tax is calculated on the sale price before incentives. Flex cash usually goes towards your down payment.

Sorry about that...2018 Accord EX-L. Already approved for 36 months @ 1.9% Wasn't planning to put any money down. Does the flex cash have to go towards the down payment? Or should I even care about that? If it doesn't, would that be taken off the sales price to calculate the tax?

To my knowledge, you do not have a say how flex cash is applied. When I bought an Accord more than 5 years ago, flex cash was applied towards the down payment. As I stated previously, sales tax is calculated based off the the sale price of the car pre-rebates. You can always confirm this info with the dealer.

@beee513 - Here is a breakdown of your deal:
    • Invoice price: $28,306
    • Amount below invoice (before incentives): $2,200
    • Amount below invoice (after flex cash and loyalty cash): $3,750
    • Amount below invoice (after incentives and doc fees):$3,291
This is a solid deal. I would go for it, if I were in the market.

Post the dealership's name once you have signed the deal.
