    What is your sales tax rate?

    Was the $2500 rebate for a purchase?

    I'd guess there is a discount involved, they just didn't bother with quoting you a price for the car, and just gave you a payment.

    The $2400 is being used to cover upfront charges, first. Then, any leftover is deducted from the CAP cost.

    $1100 for title/registration/dealer fees
    $344.61 to cover the first payment
    Another $155.50 for upfront fees
    Plus, tax on the CAP reduction

    That leaves $725 for CAP reduction.

    Your gross CAP is $28,650, which is the selling price + $650 acquisition fee
    Net CAP is $28,650 minus the $725 = $27,925

    So, everything looks correct.
    It is $0 due at signing.

    But, I would want an accounting of exactly what goes into the $1100 + $155.50 in fees.
    I know fees are high in WA, but that's really high, without a breakdown.

    WA, AL, OR, ID, MT

    Hybrid: .00025 MF and 52% residual

    $2400 lease cash on either.

    Those seem like extremely high prices, but WA has high fees and taxes.

    You are right about the MF vs residual balance. The Tacoma has a high residual so the lease will be pretty good. On the other hand the MF increases the actual lease payment. The RAV 4 has a low MF but the residual is pretty poor. I guess after doing the calculations a good way to compare would be to do some ratios - If the lease payment to MSRP is lower then it should be a better deal. What do you think?

    Hi Michaell - as you realize I am not beholden to any vehicle - just looking for the best MF and residual. Of course the actual price vs MSRP plays a big role in the actual lease but I also don't like high MF's.
    You can't look at MF in isolation.

    Example:

    $30K MSRP, $27K CAP Cost

    .00224 MF and 65% residual = $312/mo, before tax
    .00050 MF and 55% residual = $313/mo, before tax
    You are right about the MF vs residual balance. The Tacoma has a high residual so the lease will be pretty good. On the other hand the MF increases the actual lease payment. The RAV 4 has a low MF but the residual is pretty poor. I guess after doing the calculations a good way to compare would be to do some ratios - If the lease payment to MSRP is lower then it should be a better deal. What do you think?
    That is a helpful tool for comparing lease payments.

    But, if your comparison is lease vs. buy, you have to take into account big purchase incentives, which might make buying more advantageous.
