Thanks for your reply! When you mention incentive, would that be inclusive when I consider 15-18% lower negotiated price from MSRP?

I'm new to the forum and leasing and wondering how can I get the most out of lease negotiation process, Where should I bring up the incentive in the discussion? before or after negotiating the price? I usually target between 15 to 18% lower price from MSRP. If I get there, do I have any leverage left to discuss available lease incentives?

Any offer from the dealer is likely to include all available incentives. The $2600 is divided up thusly:

$750 Dealer Lease Cash (this goes directly to the dealer; they can choose to pass that along to the customer)
$1850 Captive Lease Cash (this goes to the customer, and will show up on your paperwork as a rebate, or cap cost reduction)

Negotiate your best price, then see if the incentives can be deducted from that. You may get push back from the dealer, but you won't know how low you can get the price unless you try.

Thanks. So should I negotiate the price first as if I'm buying the car and then start lease discussion once I'm happy with the price? Some seems to suggest this approach but it seems counterintuitive because incentives they can apply to purchase are different than lease. Wouldn't it be a waste of time negotiating price for purchase knowing it can't be the same with different incentives for lease? Or do they tend to be in same ball park regardless?

I would not hide the fact that you are leasing, for the very reason you cite.

Purchase incentives can be very different from lease incentives.

.00079 must be the next tier down from top on money factor
    60% residual for 36/7.5K

I get $399/mo. with those numbers.. that's pretty close.

$6200 off MSRP including the incentive looks pretty good.

3puttbogey, it's not a good deal, IMHO. I was able to get AWD + Technology package MSRP ~$51500 for $530/month 36/12K with only first monthly payment + DMV fees at sighing in Maryland, state which taxes full selling price.

This is a great resource. I appreciate it when people post there specific deals, but I'm having a hard time getting anywhere close with my local dealers in total cost.

Ex. I'm looking at 18' SH-AWD with Tech. MSRP $51,595.00. I'm getting quoted $46,184.00 as the sale price before all other fees (aquisition fee. etc.). This is inclusive of the $2600 discount. That means the dealer is selling at invoice, then subtracting the incentives. The only money they are making would be the holdback which I believe is 2% for Acura or roughly $1K.

People on here are quoting $44,355 for the same unit. So.... am I getting ripped OR are people doing trade-ins and the dealer is applying some of the trade-in as a reduction in the sale price of the MDX? Not calling anyone a liar but how can you get another $2K below? INVOICE - $2600 - $2000

Another person recently posted $530 month (fully loaded) with nothing down for the same unit. I'm getting quoted $560 fully loaded (in PA with 9% lease tax).

    Thanks

How many dealers have you worked with? I can't speak to the strategies used by other posters, but the more competition you introduce, the better your deal gets, generally speaking.

I wouldn't worry about terms like "holdback" and "invoice" - we will never know what the dealer paid for the car, or what incentives they have with the factory to show a profit on a sold unit.

It could also be regional - deals are better in New England than in the Midwest, etc. I have no qualitative data to show this, but it is something to consider. Also, think about traveling to get the deal you want. I have a friend here in Colorado who bought a new car from KY (and had it shipped here), and a used car in TX (he flew down and drove it home).

3 years later, the programs are very different. You could look at it as you're only paying $23/mo more for a 3 year newer car.

If I add $2100 for tax, acq. fee and dealer fee, I get the same number.

If you are happy with the pricing the calculations look good.

2018 MDX with Tech Package, zip 07452 (NJ) 36mo/7,500 miles (we have a lot of carryover miles on current MDX)
    Sales Price $45,336
Cash upfront of $1,982 (Bank Fee $595, MV $494, Doc $395, First month payment)
    Monthly Lease $499
Seems like I can do better from the lease calculators.

    Is this a good deal?
2018 MDX with Tech Package, zip 07452 (NJ) 36mo/7,500 miles (we have a lot of carryover miles on current MDX)
    Sales Price $45,336
Cash upfront of $1,982 (Bank Fee $595, MV $494, Doc $395, First month payment)
    Monthly Lease $499
Seems like I can do better from the lease calculators.

    What is the MSRP?

    .00050
    $2600 lease incentives
    58% residual

Roll the bank and doc fees into the payment.

Funny how the payment offer always seems to end in "99"

MSRP is $51,595 (including destination) and yes I am thinking of rolling all fees in. Did I get a good deal? Thanks.

Our deals seem similar. Your total cost of lease is $19,447. I'm being quoted $20,160. The difference is partly the 2% better residual on your 7500 mile / year lease. PA has a 9% lease tax. What is the tax in NJ for leases?

    6.625% I believe

With that adjusted CAP, I get $462/mo.

But, the price looks reasonable, either way.

I get $430/mo before tax, using those numbers. But, it looks like there is about $650 left over from your up front cash, which would likely be used as a cap reduction. Then, the payment is $411/mo plus tax, which looks to be about right.

That said, I would suggest you roll the tax, doc and bank fees into the lease payment, and skip the cap reduction. Payment goes up to $469, but up front drops to less than $500.

    .00050 MF
    $2600 lease incentives
54% for 36/15 on Tech trim

    56% is for 36/12

Residual percentage is applied to the entire MSRP - the bottom line number of the factory window sticker.

What is the specific breakdown of the $2000? We recommend only paying the first payment and any registration costs at signing.
