36 month, 10K miles in Illinois?

I’ve submitted an order via Volvo’s website for a Momentum T5 AWD with a MSRP of $41,640.

    Thanks.

Do you think there is room to negotiate the price given it’s been ordered to my specifications? Thank you.

You should negotiate the price when the order is submitted. Once the dealer receives it, you are in a weaker position.

    Hello all.

Am brand spanking new here and must also confess that I know very little about leases because  I’ve always bought my last 18 vehicles (or was supplied with a company car) - But that said, I know even less about Volvo line and this XC range of models - outside of looking at a “90” in passing several years ago and only recall it felt like a SAAB of old and that I was sitting on the floor!

So -That as my confession and precursor, I’ll read thru here more about the various lease factors and see what is what. But what even got me to this point here tonight was seeing a TV advert for the 2019 XC40 (white with black roof) but don’t know which model it was. So need a quick education on the differences between the T4 and T5 as well as the RV and MF (if I have that correct as well?)

i live at 7,100 ft in the Rockies and so 4WD (AWD) is mandatory... In the commercial I saw, it appears to have all the “creature features” I’d normally be seeking (upgraded H/K sound system, Apple CarPlay and wireless charging with a nice interior and massive sunroof). You don’t have to sell me on Volvo’s safety record (unless it’s dropped since being sold off/acquired by??)

I'm currently looking at several MB SUV’s and their AWD sedans but prefer having the space in back. The runner up is BMW’s xDrive and their X series but at 6’1” and 205lbs both brands with their compact and even some midsize offerings are simply too small for me. On the other hand, I cringe at the thought of paying $850-$1200/mo for a full sized SUV (be it purchase or leased. Heard BMW leases are the worst). Also looked at the new Rovers and the F-Pace and even a Romeo but just can’t seem to find that right sized car/SUV at a reasonable price? Enter Volvo. I can tell already that this XC40 probably will be a tight fit (don’t they offer a XC30 compact too?) so I could be wrong but plan on hitting the Volvo dealership this weekend and see what is what and if anything is worth pursuing? Again, I’ve never test driven or even sat in a newer Volvo so pardon my ignorance if I’ve misspoke or rained on someone’s parade with my comments. I’m only here to learn. Also open to suggestions as these lease prices are a step up from the “low end” deals I’m seeing around (Mazda, Buick, Chevy, Nissan, etc) but I’m not a fan of Asian nor American rides (sorry, but after 18 vehicles, and living overseas. You kinda know what suits you best and what you like and dislike) Anywho. These lease prices are slightly higher but still well within my desired budget yet you still get that Volvo brand recognition without the $1000/mo price tag (or that’s my limited POV) Does any of this make sense? Can anyone guide me as to what to shop for this weekend? Also are the 2018’s and 2019’s models massively different? Any deals to be had at this time of year with leftover 2018’s?? Or has that ship sailed?

    Many thanks!!

    BB

There is no 2018 XC40. It's brand new for the 2019 model year.
So far, only T5s are available.

If you don't fit in an X3 (and, I'm not sure why), then the Volvo likely won't be any different. It's a little smaller than an X3.

Well.... You’ve definitely proved that when I said I haven’t a clue about the Volvo range, that I wasn’t lying!!  I certainly missed the mark on pretty much every count. But let’s try to deal with the few positives I was able to pull from your kind reply.

When you say fitting into a “X” I’ll assume that you’re referring to the BMW X3? The newest model is a hair longer and bigger than the early teen versions before and whilst it’s not my favorite of the SUV offerings, it is a snug but acceptable fit for me and rather go the X5 route but then you’re talking $850-$1000/mo.. either way, you say the XC40 is even smaller than the X3? That could be an issue then. Since 2019 is the first model year what’s the next step up now then in Volvo-land? I’ll sssume whatever that model is, it’s also a hefty step up in price too.

Whats rhe the difference between a T4 and T5? Engine? Package offerings? I just thought the XC40 on the advert was super sexy - nice clean lines - not OTT with unnecessary bits and bobs added on.  Just a clean looking ride. My only complaint (not having even sat in one) is it looks to have a low rake and appears to sit low to the ground vs. other SUV’s or crossovers. But bet it handles well. We’ll see??

Anyway. Thanks again for the feedback and if anyone else’s can think of a cost effective lease suggestion, I’m all ears. After 2-3 years living overseas I came back to the states just to find that I had a “0” credit score as everything had dropped off all my reports. So ever since then I’ve worked hard to get it back to the 780+ range now across the board and can get like MB CPO 1.99% APR deals which is kinda the way I’m leaning today. But always open to better fresher ideas. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure T4 vs T5 is engine.
Plus, likely the T5 will have more standard equipment.

Yes, the X3. My wife is on her 2nd one of the previous model (2011, and now 2017). It seems to have plenty of room for the driver.

The next Volvo up is the XC60. It's similar in size and price to the X3. It's also very popular, with few incentives, but at least you can find discounts.

More size? Infiniti QX60 and Toyota Highlander are both leasing pretty well.

Thanks. Those 2 are on my list as well. Never been a huge Infiniti fan ... but this round of SUV’s appeal to me for some reason (I’ll surely knock the front grill off or in within the first week!:) Otherwise will look at Toys too. Had a 4-Runner once and was decent... Thought the Highlander was built on one of their car chassis? I may have dreamt that. We’ll see. 2 down, 10 to go yet. Cheers.

Unless my math is way off then the Volvo program for $600 seems to be a great deal. Basically, you have a two-year lease with 15k miles including insurance and other stuff. For a $40,940 MSRP car, I'm getting a two-year lease of $672 a month with 10k miles and tax here in So Cal assuming sticker on the car and standard residual, acquisition fee, money factor listed here.

That's about $30 a month more expensive than the Volvo program and you don't include the insurance which may be worth $70-80 a month or so. The tire protection and other stuff are fine but I wasn't considering it. Even for a three-year lease, I'm getting $496 with tax (7.75%) plus insurance which is pretty close.

I'm basing this on essentially no drive off other than the first months payment. You'd have standard drive off of tire fees, etc. but the Volvo program looks to be the best deal.

    The 4Runner isn't a crossover. It's an SUV

That's the whole point of the term, "crossover". It denotes a car chassis that is built to look like an SUV.

Agree and understood. I said I owned a Toy 4-Runner before and enjoyed that... till I rolled it 6 times at 75mph and crushed the roof to the seat tops - so safety and structural integrity mean allot to me as I walked away from that one. Not sure I’d do the same in say a Highlander etc. The Volvo is indestructible I’d think. And the X3 and X5 are built on their own rigid chassis. It wasn’t meant as a troll or pissing match. I was just expressing my reason for concern over various models as the discussion wasn’t limited to just crossovers. I’m probably the only person on the planet that that matters to.  Peace

I don't think you can limit it to a single brand. My step son wrecked his 1998 Geo Tracker 5 weeks after getting his license - rolled it twice, tail over nose once (when you're 16, you think you're immortal). My step daughter was in the front passenger seat and received a moderate concussion. My step son and a friend in the back seat walked away.

So, not just Volvo, or Toyota.

Just posting for the “irony factor”. (Ad popped up on here and clicked their SUV and was surprised by their reasonable rates, given the brand name)  :)B) That aside, BMW X5 and the larger GL Benz will lease at $1000+ /mo. Rovers add another $500. Who’d ever thunk a Maserati SUV (okay, “crossover”) would be in the $750 range!?! Not me. Def will go and Check it out - If anything, just to help me limp thru my midlife crisis!!:) (high down payment and 60 mo. lease noted) but on an $85k SUV, that ain’t bad? Curious what its residual is after 60 months.

Thanks for everyone's assistance...I'd been looking at BMW X1/X2, and a couple others and have agreed on an XC40 R-Design.

    MRSRP 45935
    Selling Price 45000
    36/10
    Payment $513 including tax (NC)
    $1k due at signing

It's certainly not the best deal I've ever done (by far) but there is no inventory on these cars and I had a time constraint so I didn't have a lot of leverage.

    Good luck to everyone else!

The XC40 is quite popular, so there has been little discounting available.

Man are you off, if you take that 6K down and lease a 69K X5, your payments would be less then that Maserati. Neighbor just leased a new X5 diesel sale price 72K, with just fee's down payments are $785/m w/tax Whoever put 6K down on a lease shouldn't be leasing in the first place.

Is there lease numbers yet for the T4 momentum AWD or FWD? Seems they are starting to trickle in unless they’re mismarked on the dealer sites. California, 10k/36m lease.

    Thanks!

I could very well be off. As said it was posted kinda tongue in cheek and really is meant to be vs the largest Volvo SUV. Much depends on which model and how it’s equipped.. after the BMW guys ran their X5 lease numbers for me it was around $985/Mo. Mercedes I won’t even waste your time with but needless to say was substantially more. I’m also very new to “leasing” as I confessed in my OP so forgive me for not knowing all the ins ands outs. You can “make the numbers work” by doing allot of things. Size of down payment to begin with. I’m also going thru the Amex Platinum Auto lease program which very well may be adding thousands to the cost or reducing. Dunno yet - as now I’ve only been to 3 dealers out of 12 planned. And I’m running the entire gamut; German, Italian, British, Swede (I know that’s not there anymore but wherever they are now) and then 1 USA brand. Once I’ve collected all that data I’ll share my bottom line and we’ll see where Volvo and others come out in the mix... FWIW right after that I saw a lease ad on TV for a Rover Velar at $475/mo. (!!) Rover rarely has any deals. So that’s now on the list too. AWD as well   Cheers

According to Volvo's payment calculator, as long as the customer's credit score is 620 or above, it appears that the money factor (interest rate) remains the same. Can this be confirmed?

If your information shows different money factors for different credit tiers, please let me know what money factors you show for a FICO score somewhere between 630 and 680.

Thank you very much for your excellent service.

Sorry, no information about credit tiers or MF uplifts for Volvo.

Regardless of your credit score, the dealer may try to mark up the money factor, which they are allowed to do, so watch out for that.

Test drove the XC40 yesterday - Nice ride - Trouble is, here in CO at least, there's zero availability or inventory - Dealer said that everyone was sent one as a demo (possibly two for the larger dealers) and delivery wouldn't be until JAN/FEB 2019 and are wait-listing everyone for now... So they push you to the 60 and 90 of course... The new lines on this car are amazing - Volvo has finally gotten out of their rut - and once they do come to market, I expect they'll sell like hotcakes... Size-wise it's larger than I thought but would be tight still for me (width is the issue not so much leg or headroom - Awesome motor - No turbo yet - but the sales 'kid' was a bit green (no one is greener than me when it comes to Volvo's - so that's said with all due respect) He just didn't know much about the numbers or ETA or reasons why? - Said that Volvo limits production to make sure all the kinks are out before committing whole hog - I'm not sure I buy that?? (it's a duel dealership Mazda / Volvo - so was able to look at the CX9 and CX5 next to the 40 and 60... The center display (ala Tesla style) is pretty impressive as well along with all the electronic toys... 2-tone Leather interior is sweet as is the sunroof - Not much space in back ..... but otherwise I'm leaving it on my list for now - I looked at the Mazda's and like I said in my OP I've never liked Asian cars after owning 5 euro cars now - The quality isn't even close but are only $5K apart in price?? (depending on model/options of course) - Anyway - just wanted to thank those for the feedback and guidance - It's a nice ride... Def larger than I expected but is hard to gauge - Not a super small crossover like I was expecting - but also not a midsized ride either - Def food for thought...
