Hi guys. I spec built a RR Sport Dynamic a few months ago and dealer said it should arrive in a few weeks. He wouldn't quote me any numbers back them but just got back to me and I think there is a lot of dealer profit built in. Can I get some advice on this deal:

MSRP: $97,525
36 month / 15k miles

Dealer quoting 52% residual value and would not provide the money factor. Estimated payments of $1775/month with just first month payment at signing.

Ordering a car with no deal in place gives you ZERO leverage.
You could buy that car with a 60 month term for that payment.

At the base money factor, your adjusted CAP cost would have to about $107K to get that payment.
I think it's safe to assume you aren't getting a discount.
+$895 acquisition fee
+$5900 tax (MD taxes the full price)
+$300 dealer fee
+$300 MD DMV fees

That leaves about $2000 unaccounted for.. I'm sure they could figure out some extra charges to fill that in.
Either that, or they've marked up the money factor to about .00269.

None of that is surprising.

52% residual is for a 2018 model.

I really wanted the Firenze Red color and they didn't have one, so we ordered. However, I didn't sign a thing or put down a deposit. Essentially their attitude was that if I don't end up buying it, someone else will.

I've been pushing the sales guy but he's adamant about the price and confident in his position, so you are right, I have zero leverage.

I expected the payments to be about $1400. Unless I can get the cost down to something more realistic, I will probably walk from the deal, unless I am really missing the big picture here.

I'd guess that even if they weren't padding anything, they still wouldn't take less than full MSRP, and your monthly would still be over $1700/mo.

That is the base MF for top tier credit; no chance to get it lower.

Any discount is decent, especially on a new 2019.

You are free to continue to negotiate the price, but understand you may not get far.

If you want a lower payment, you should shop a different brand.
