As my co-host noted, LR dealers are famous for inflating the MF beyond a reasonable rate, then telling you to 'take it or leave it'.

Markups are negotiable, though LR dealers may not negotiate.

The base rate is the lowest for top tier credit.

Land Rover dealers typically offer no discounts, and add massive markups to the money factor.

I wouldn't buy their vehicle under those circumstances.

It's hard to negotiate, unless you have competitive vehicles in mind.

Order was placed on Monday. I placed a $5000 deposit which is refundable if I decline their terms. Delivery is 5 months out. I think I still have leverage to negotiate a bit but I think my main focus will be on MF. I doubt they'll come down on actual selling price so I'll probably not hit on that too hard. I suspect I'll need to check back on current MF rates come March but at least I have any idea of how much padding they're giving themselves. I appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

I wouldn't use the trade equity to buy down the payment; if the car is stolen or totaled, you'd lose that equity.

What is the breakdown of the $2131 "non tax fee"?

Ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP cost used for their payment quote.

Selling price - $92063.40

Money Factor of 0.00229

Dealer and I both agree that the monthly payment is $1,193.93.
We disagree however on the payment once taxes are rolled in. Taxes in my zip are 8.875%.
I get a payment of $1,299.89.
He gets a payment of $1,323.88 because he tells me that when taxes are rolled in, they are subject to money factor.
Does that make sense?
