Yes I'm waiting on an update for a 12K/yr quote. I too asked about a larger % off MSRP but was told that is all that can be done. This is not the first time I was told this for an order, not something on a lot. Correct, MF is .00145.

I was told by the dealership that .00145 MF is 60 month lease; MF of .00155 is for 36 month lease with a one pay payment option. This doesn't seem right to me. Was told if I want to do 36 monthly payments then the MF is .00185 Needless to say I'm not happy

Yeah, the dealer is pulling a fast one on you.

.00145 is the base MF

.00040 is the max markup allowed

.00030 is the discount to the MF for one-pay

Find another dealer.

Yep. Feel like they're playing the shell game. The Rent Charge remains unchanged (somehwere in the $10k range). They've reduced the cap cost, not showing the MSRP, but I do see the residual and the depreciation amounts. They want me to pay $3972 up front, not real sure what that's for except for license, title, process, documentation fee, destination charge (all crazy prices in my opinion). They're telling me they only mark cars up .00040 to remain competitive. I have excellent credit score and from what I've read, smaller lease terms give better rates, not the other way around. One final question about leasing is, what, if anything, am I required to pay upfront? I don't think I should have to pay a security deposit and am unsure about any taxes or those other fees, that buyer/lessee is required to pay. Thanks.

Yes, .00145 is the lowest MF available.

Tell them you want the base rate or you'll find another dealer.

In Florida, we suggest only the first payment and any government imposed fees (registration, for example), be paid at signing.

Everything else should be rolled into the cap cost and made part of the payment - which, of course, will be higher than if you paid those items up front.

I went and looked at the X7 over the weekend. I like it (don't love it, but I like it). I built the one I THINK i want and the MSRP is 87k. I would be trading in a car (GL450), that is honestly worth about 10k. I would probably opt for 12k miles per year for 36 months. Can somebody really dumb this down for me and let me know what sorta payment is appropriate so I know what to try and negotiate. My zip is 28277. Any help or tips is great appreciated.

First off, I'm not sure I'd recommend you lease an $87K car that you don't love. No buyers remorse with a lease - you sign the papers, you're on the hook for 36 months. So, you'd better be real happy with your choice.

Second, don't use trade equity as a down payment - you'll lose that money if the car is stolen or totaled during the lease.

Third, you don't want to negotiate the payment; you want to negotiate the selling price, just like you were buying. Then, understand the taxes and fees that go into a lease, so you aren't paying for anything extra.

The lease payment is driven by two things - the money factor (which is .00145 for BMW) and the negotiated price. Dealer can mark up the MF by .00040 for extra profit, and it's up to you to determine what price you'll be happy with - you can use this link to help:

Asking for clarification on the money factor number. If dealer says they're selling/leasing me the car at invoice, then giving me a money factor of .00185 - is this the equivalent of what they'd normally mark the car up? I've been told here on this forum that the money factor is .00145 for the BMW X7 50i, year 2020, 36 month lease, 10k miles, zip code 33445. The dealer tells me this IS the money factor THEY pay and then mark it up .0040. Is this BS or no? I'm so sick of messing around on this lease deal, I'm ready to move on but I want to be clear in case I run into this with another dealer. Thanks.

It's not BS - they're actually being truthful with you.

But, it's up to you to decide if you want to pay the markup, or not.

It only takes one dealer to strike a deal. Keep looking.

Update on lease . . . I ended up with 2020 x7 50i - paid about $1000 less than invoice (as per NADA site), putting first month's payment in and got MF of .00185. I appreciate your assistance, it truly helped me determine what pricing was right and comfortable for me. I DO feel like I got a reasonable deal. This was a 36 month lease, 10k miles, zip code 33445
