Adding up the fees and the first payment, then subtracting your $2000, results in an adjusted CAP of $37166. (I used the $450 for DMV).

Payment result is $465/mo. That's over $1000 more total than the numbers they've provided.

The discount is good, but they clawed back some of it with that $600 dealer fee.

I'd ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and an exact accounting of how they got there from your sale price, and how they allocated the $2000. There might be more crap/fees hiding in there.

I signed a lease deal just before New Years, and used some numbers from this comment section to guide me (much appreciated), so I figured I would post my final deal to hopefully help someone else!

    2020 Acura RDX Advanced Package
    Terms: 7.5k miles/36 months
    MF: .00225 (i.e 5.4% interest rate)
    Residual: 61%
    MSRP: 48,695.00
    Negotiated Cap Cost: 43,499.00
Money down: $750 (Was the end of year cash back bonus in Dec)
    Zip: 80304

    Monthly lease payment: $644

Hope this helps! Also curious to see if ultimately people find this to be a good deal!

The incentive is Acura-to-dealer. You won't find it. Just know the dealer is getting that incentive, when you negotiate the sale price.

    I was offered the following deal for a 2020 A-Spec SH-AWD at 77007

$595 per month (walk out paying first month only)
    39/15K
    .00225 MF
    54% RV
    47000 MSRP
    39000 sales price

They didn't show me the actual worksheet. I was just told that they were discounting the vehicle by $8K off MSRP. So I don't know what the real adjusted cap cost is.

They also offered to pay last two payments of my current lease of $500 each month.

I've plugged in these numbers into some lease calc and can't get the numbers to match up to the $595. Can you all please help me evaluate? Thank you.

Adjusted CAP would be about $42,600 to get that payment
That implies $3600 in extra charges, above the sale price

Full sales tax in TX, so $2500 just in sales tax
    $595 acquisition fee
    $350 DMV/dealer fee (approx)

Payment looks about right. You want to see all the numbers, though, so you can see actual discount, taxes, accounting for your current payments, etc, etc.

Looks like a reasonable deal, but if Acura is offering TX tax credits, then maybe the dealer has more room to move. Without seeing the details, you won't know.

Acura has special 2.9% APR financing up to 60 months (with no incentive)
Or, you could take AFS Standard rate financing, and the dealer gets a $1500 incentive

Thanks for the super fast response! You are awesome!

The sales manager said something about tax credits in his sales pitch. So that may have been included already. $8000 off MSRP sounded great to me, but for some reason, the monthly still seems high to me. This may be comparing apples and oranges, but my wife is paying $500/month on a 2018 Q5 Premium Plus. Got it on 11/2018. 36/12, $400 down plus first month, $50000 MSRP, sales price of $43500, adjust cap cost of about $45300. We had a break even trade in of about $19500 so we saved on same sales tax.

I asked the Acura dealer for 36/15, but he pushed me to 39/15 to "lower" my monthly payments.

How does tax credits work? Is that a manufacturer's incentive? I know that you can save on tax if there's a trade in, but I am not trading in my current vehicle.

This may be comparing apples and oranges,

It is, a little. I certainly wouldn't lock in on an RDX, when the universe of lux/near-lux compact SUVs is huge.
Would I drive an RDX at $600/mo, if I could drive a Q5 at $500/mo? Not likely.

The tax credits come from the leasing bank. It's their way of passing along the trade-in tax credits they get when leases are returned. It's a big incentive (usually covers 5 percentage points of the sales tax.. $2000 in above example).

If the dealership is applying those credits to your deal, then their discount just went down by $2000. Instead of $8000, it is really $6000, and with a $2850 dealer incentive, it starts to look kind of puny.

Ahh. So if the tax credit is $2000, and my Texas sales tax is $2500, I essentially pay $500 for taxes. So $2000 in tax credit is better than a dealer discount of $2000 off MSRP. Does the tax credit exist only if I am trading in a vehicle (which I am not)?

$595 per month (walk out paying first month only)
    39/15K
    .00225 MF
    54% RV
    47000 MSRP
    39000 sales price

They didn't show me the actual worksheet. I was just told that they were discounting the vehicle by $8K off MSRP. So I don't know what the real adjusted cap cost is.

They also offered to pay last two payments of my current lease of $500 each month.

I've plugged in these numbers into some lease calc and can't get the numbers to match up to the $595. Can you all please help me evaluate? Thank you.

No.. the tax credit belongs to the bank.. but, they have no way to use it, except to apply it against tax on another lease. If the tax credit is part of the $8000 off, then the dealer's discount is only $6000.

But, that shows you that the lease payments you want covered are really out of your pocket. By getting a new car now, you are throwing away two month's use of your current vehicle.

2020 AWD RDX w/Tech package, 36/10, zip is 19967. 59% Residual, .00215 MF. MSRP is $43,795, Cap Cost is $37,759. Only 1st payment due at signing, nothing else out of pocket. My calculated payment is $480, theirs is $570. What else do I need to determine which payment is correct? Thanks in advance!

Either the cap cost or the MF are different - confirm the numbers with the dealer.

Are the payments calculated with sales tax? 10-11% in PA.

Your "Cap Cost" is evidently not the Adjusted CAP cost. I'll guess it is the sale price.
You have to add tax, acquisition fee, dealer fees and DMV. Do you pay 4.25% on the full purchase price in Delaware, on a lease?

Yes. And there is $650 in there for fees and DMV, per the dealer. I’ve used several lease calculators and come up with approximately the same numbers ($475-$480) each time.

Is one lease calculator better, or more complete, than another?

    4.25% = $1600?
    acq.fee/DMV = $650?

    $37759
    +$2250
    = $40009 adjusted CAP
