Document fee of $229 seems a bit too high. In the San Francisco Bay Area, the common document fee that I know is $25. I bought my new Mazda Van more than a year ago and I paid $25 for the document fee. FYI.
What exactly does an "out the door" price include? I had a dealer give me $22,720 on an EX-L 4cyl, and $18775 on an LX. Are these good prices? I am thinking and pretty sure both are 04's. Thanks
___The prices you were quoted are more then likely terrible. A brand new 04 EX-L I4 Sedan can be found in the neighborhood of $20,700 as of last week here in the Chicagoland area. The same 04 except w/ NAVI was offered for $22,500 but these are not “Out the Door” prices. I doubt your quotes were either but they might have been? Why don’t you read back just 4 or 5 pages of this thread to get a feel for what a bad, good, and great price?
___In terms of “Out the Door”, it is the Automobile price + State/County/City Tax + Title fees + License fees + any garbage fees or rip-off add-ons you let the dealership salesman take you for as you sign the paperwork and drive the Accord off the lot.

Now I work for a Major Aircraft Company. I own two Hondas. One I bought for $300 above invoice and one I bought for $700 below invoice.
I have read Edmunds, Kelly's, and Carpoint daily for several years. I like to do all of my own car maintenance and I like to try to provide insight on wasting money unnecessarily at the dealer for maintenance and purchase costs. Personally, I don't believe leasing cars makes good financial sense, unless you know you will always be buying a car every 3 years and you drive less than 12,000 miles yearly. I always do a lot of research and buy the most dependable car that fits my needs at the cheapest price I can find. Lastly, I only go to the dealer for warranty repairs and I keep cars for about 12 years/150,000 miles while following the severe maintenance schedual, which I accomplish myself. I think this is the most bang for your buck and it works for me.

You may have hit refresh, which will create more of the same post. Buying or leasing a car for the best price is all about knowledge. Ask lots of questions before you next purchase and I'm sure you will save more money. On this deal, I don't know if you did or not. Hopefully, someone will chime in with some specific insight.

That's a pretty good deal, I was offered 21,300 for the same including dest. Add registration, inspection, DMV fee, and taxes to that in NYC. But I also received a 22,000 offer for a V6 04 ex leather with about 600 miles, but I went with the 05 for 22,600.

I got the same car (4 doors) in NY for $21,000 +ttl last week. I thought it was a very good price. If yours is one of the less common colors (not silver or beige) you might be able to bargain down a bit, but there probably isn't a lot of wiggle room. The best price I could get for a silver one (same car) was $21,200.

You should have have gotten the same car for at least $1,000 less at this time of the year. Remaining '04 LX 4 cylinders were, and still are going for anywhere from 17K and up, destination included,
It's hard to believe. In NJ you cannot do this. Dealers won't even talk with you.A friend of mine bought Infinity G35 in NY for 26,000(NJ and Delawere prices were $30 grand and up).
Is anybody familiar with this plan or utilized that option when they bought a new Honda at the dealer? Basically, from what I was told, the buyer would be paying ~ 4.25% interest for 60 months, and the package includes a number of anthitheft features built into the car along with Roadside Assistance plan and 5 yr, 60K bumper-bumper warranty.
After spending much time pricing i'm sure it doesn't get any better than that.

The EX-L is adequate, perfect as a daily driver, but just doesn't feel as alive, especially when you wind it up to 6000 rpm.
And I get a free power passenger seat and home link transmitter..... just for kicks.......................
of course i lose the restyled lamps and illuminated buttons, but the whole point of steering wheel buttons is to NOT have to look down at them while driving, so who cares if they are illuminated or not

Yes, that's good so long as there is no "document fee" that exceeds $50--it's usually part of the TTL.
If your price is less than $300 over invoice without a high "doc fee" (which is pure profit), it's a good deal for an '05 at the start of the model year--especially if the dealer is convenient and has a good reputation......Richard

I leased a 2005 Accord EX V6 from a dealership in Maryland about 3 weeks ago. They called me 3 days ago to come back and re-sign the contract. The guy claimed that they made a mistake in the original contract. He also said the price I paid will not be affected.

That same warranty can be bought from a number of dealers on line for about $900.00. Personally, I would save my money on the low jack. That is why I pay for insurance.

We are NYC residents, and if we buy the car from an out of state dealer, do we pay NYC (local) sales tax, or do we pay the tax of the location/state where the dealer is located? Can anyone chime in?
Also, the price to beat that we are going to include in our emails for a EX 4Cyl/auto with Navi was- $22,500. This seems fair to the both of us (us and the dealer) , right?
Hi all, This is my first post! I just received a price from a dealer in CT (I am in Westchester County, NY) for a 2005 Accord LX-V6. He quoted me $21,832, including destination charge. Addt'l pricing includes a $179 bogus fee, whoops, I mean, conveyance fee, 120 registration fee + tax. This is $109 under Consumer reports invoice price, but $101 over their wholesale price and is $100 less than msn.autos.com quoted. It is $525 less than carsdirect.com quoted.
I'm beginning to doubt all these sites, because they pretty much match the first quotes I've been getting from dealers, which is never low enough.
Does this seem like a good price or bad price? I'm inclined to think it's a lousy price, because the sales rep agreed to it so quickly. His original quote was $22,283 (same details as above).

The 2004 MY Accord had a sales decline of ~ 5% vs. the 2003 MY. This alone should tell you that incentives and/or real deals are not that far away
___Now the question why a V6? Is the sub 9 seconds to 60 for the I4 w/ Auto not fast enough? I drove an 04 Accord I4 EX-L Sedan w/ Auto and NAVI a few weeks ago. I had the dealership take the tires up to 40 #’s before the test drive. Using the NAVI trip computer, I had > 50 mpg showing (pegged the max 50 mpg instantaneous meter) at 58 mph and below for over 5 miles while driving across reasonably level highway. A 28 mile round trip including 15 miles of city and 13 miles of State and Interstate highway left me with a 44.3 mpg average for the entire test drive. The V6 won’t accomplish this task although it is very fuel efficient in its own right given the sub 8 second to 60 performance.
___Finally, did you know that in your state, you can pick up a PZEV based I4 Accord for ~ $135.00 more then the LEV-II based I4? In California, a PZEV’s emissions warranty goes out some 150,000 miles on some components. I believe this is the case in your state as well? This alone is worth the extra $135.00 over and above the std. I4 not including the easily justifiable benefits of driving a PZEV for your family, city, state, county, country, and our planet!

I would like a V6 because, unfortunately, I spend a lot of time in the car. I put in 90 + miles/ day just commuting! I have a 96 Civic now, with 223,000 miles on it. It's a 4cyl with not nearly the juice I'd like to pass the slow pokes in the left lane. So, this time, I wanted some more zip.

I think the point is that everyone owes it to themselves to test drive the current generation Accord I4 in comparison with the V6 prior to making a choice. I also wouldn't dismiss all four cylinder engines on the basis of a '96 civic, which probably (i'm guessing here) was a 1.6-1.7L 110HP 100 pound-feet sort of "monster". In contrast, the current I4 in the Accord is around 160/155 or thereabouts.

Hi, I did test drive the LX 4 cyl as well as V-6 and even the EX. EX was sportier & cuter, but I still thought the V-6 had more juice. Everyone seems to be suggesting the EX. Hmmm, food for thought before I make the big purchase. Thanks. gobush04!
If re-sale is important to you, bargain hard on an EX-V6.. They retain more of their value than the LX-V6.. Most people that will spend more money for a V-6 want all the goodies to go along with it... Plus, there are many more EX-V6s sold, and that is what you will be competing against when it is time to sell..
