So which dealer did you decide to go with? I am still on the fence whether to wait till end of May (memorial weekend) or pull the plug today. Thanks
  • stidesfortystidesforty Member Posts: 3
$5,845 off MSRP. Just signed the papers yesterday, pick it up tomorrow. I probably could have knocked a few $100 more off the price (to hit the $6-7k target) by haggling with multiple dealers, but this one (Bernardi Honda, Natick, MA, just west of Boston) was the lowest after initial round of quotes, as well as the one nearest to my house (and i just didn't feel like spending the day on the phone.)

FYI, their opening quote for EX-L AWD, no Nav was $27,700.

Weak attempts at selling my dealer options and warranty, but i had none of that. Time to go read the warranty forum and see what i should do on that end. Thanks for all the good advice over the last month.

    Way to go ChicagoGTR!
$27400 is what I paid (cash price) at Honda on Grand plus got a lot for my trade-in and 6% financing for 5 years thorugh the dealer. Fantastic!

The funniest part of the experience was hearing from all those other internet managers in Chicagoland who told me that this price is impossible or that it must be a 2WD or a demo or already titled or just in my imagination. It was a new, 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD and it's nice. Folks, I promise you that there was no bait and switch.

Good luck to everyone out there.

After reading all the posts here and the prices which were useful, I decided to buy the Honda Pilot 2007 EXL with Navi. After email request for quotes from edmunds from Chicago land area, I have recieved a dozen quotes in a day and the best price was from a dealer in Aurora. I paid 30,065 cash price or 32,065 with low APR 3.9% financing without doc fee and title and tax. I hope this helps anyone who is shopping. :)

    2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 2WD NO RES/NO NAV-OTD

I wasn't looking to buy a 2007 Pilot until May or June. I researched this forum and decided to call a couple of dealerships on Friday. I was quoted $28K and $28,900. At the time, I wasn't aware of the cash back incentive. They just told me that they had special financing right now. Neither dealership mentioned the $2K dealer cash back offer. After reading this forum all weekend I decided to try again today, especially since it's the last day of the month. I also saw that a lot of people have been purchasing Pilots for $5,000-$7,000 off the sticker price. I contacted 5 dealerships this morning in my area or within a 2 hour drive. I let them know that I was aware of the $2,000 cash back offer and that I wanted the car for $27,000.00 OTD. (including any fees).

    I was quoted: $27,900, $27,589, $27,671, $27,500 & $27,200.

We are purchasing the car TODAY for $27,200 OTD.

TODAY IS THE DAY TO BUY!!

I got my pilot EXL 4WD (NO RES, NO NAV) at Fair Honda in Danbury,CT. Let me know if you need more information.

Looks like I will be missing the $2000 Cash back deal if it ends today. Do they shut deals like this for sure or they comeup with something else.
The best quote I got sofar for a Pilot EX-L in NJ is $28,200 (Destination included) but I don't think I will be doing the purchase today.

Hope they comeup with better a deal for May. I tried to search about 06 deals in the month of May and found nothing.. Looks like I missed the boat....
  • cornucopiacornucopia Member Posts: 23
You will be fine. Without incentives, do you think that Honda can move the inventory of Pilot? Impossible!
  • newcomer1newcomer1 Member Posts: 15
it seems that NJ/PA have 2nd highest price (only after Oregon). I requested 32 quotes and the best quote I got so far for a Pilot EX-L in NJ/PA was $28,097 with a lot of fees.

Purchased Steel blue 2007 EX-L with 13 miles, no RES, no DVD on Friday from Performance Honda in Cincy.

    $27,600.00 - includes $595.00 - destination fee
    25.50 - title filing
    250.00 - doc. fee
1,827.36 - (in KY, we have to pay 5.4% of MSRP ($33,840)
    __________
    $29,702.86 - OTD

    All,

Thanks much for the helpful info as I prepared to purchase our Pilot. This forum provides a great service! We picked up our Pilot (EX AWD) below Saturday from Capitol Honda in McMinnville....

Silver 2007 EX AWD w/69 miles on it.

    $26,597 - Included $595 Destination
    $ 923 - Tow Package (discounted 10%)
    $ 60 - Wheel Locks
$ 0 - Splash guards (thrown in for no cost)
    $ 218 - DMV (Doc Lic Fee)
    $27,798 - OTD

There were some other dealers that had a lower price on the Pilot, but had a higher price for the tow package. One dealer (Gladstone Honda) came in with a quote that was about $200 under the OTD above, but ended up deciding to go with Capitol.

Also would recommend checking Honda of St. Johns and Wilsonville Honda, as they also had competitive pricing and seemed responsive to e-mails.

    Regards,

    -Wilson

still lag last years numbers, looks like the discounts will continue to those willing to wait. only strong sales were for CR-V as far as honda suv/trucks go.

Hello all. First time poster. We're looking to trade-in our 2003 Toyota 4-Runner for a 07 Pilot EXL W/Nav.

I sent an email to the only Honda dealer in town (located in Corpus Christi, TX) and the manger contacted me and told me his cost was $31,509 and to work from there (same as the Edmunds invoice price).

After reading this forum I know he has a dealer hold back and someone mentioned their dealer said the rebate was still in effect, but this guy acts as if it's not.

I told him that I could arrange financing through my credit union so he could treat this as a cash deal. I also didn't mention that I would be trading if our 4-Runner as I've read it's better to deal with this separately after the buying price is confirmed.

I went to Cars direct and their "target" price is $29,809 (not sure if this includes destination, etc.) which is still higher than some of you seem to have paid, but looks as though it might include the $2000 rebate.

Does Car direct price seem to be about right to you guys?

BTW, Houston and San Antonio are both within ~ 200 miles so I can look elsewhere if necessary.

Your informed opinions and advise are appreciated.

Oh yeah, I asked for Silver; don't know if that matters.

    Thanks.

PS.. Any good sites to let me know what I should expect to get from my 4-Runner on trade-in or resale?
  • darbyteedarbytee Member Posts: 5
One thing to keep in mind is that the invoice price is not the dealer's price. The dealer's price is the invoice price minus the dealer holdback (3% of MSRP for Honda), which in this case is $1024.35. Subtract the $2000 marketing money and you have an actual cost to the dealer of $28484.65. Also consider that the "doc fees" your dealer charges are essentially profit and that the "pro pack" that is probably installed has a dealer cost of about $400 assuming the standard equipment (splash guards, cargo tray, wheel locks). You should make your offer based on a fair profit for the dealer above that number. I used this model for my recent Pilot purchase and got it for $500 above the dealer's actual cost. Good luck.

I've contacted dealers within an hour range for their lowest OTD price on an 07 2WD EX-L. First go around below is my best quote...They asked if it was a cash deal and I said yes to get the lowest price they could provide, but may consider the finance rates they are promoting. Any thoughts on the deal? Thanks!

    $26,347.00
    595.00 freight (destination)
    99.00 processing fee
    102.00 wheel locks
    $27,143.00 taxable total
    1628.58 6% PA tax
    15.00 temp tag
    $28,786.00 total

The incentives that were on the Honda site today indicate that the rebate may not be there.

The new promo touts the financing package (2.9% up to 36 months and 4.9% up to 60 months). In addition, the new financing package is till July 2, 2007. Wonder if anybody has any opinions + know how it was like last year.

This was my post from 4/29. Hope it helps: "Was looking for a silver EX-L 2WD, no RES or Nav. Used fightingchance.com package. Faxed 15 dealers Wednesday around noon, 4/25/07. Most were in DFW area, others in Abilene, San Antonio, Midland/Odessa. Best deal? Vehicle price of $26,830, $28,750 OTD from Lute Riley in Richardson (Dallas). Was told by several dealers that this deal wasn't possible and that the dealer was taking “a triple loss” on the vehicle. Arrived at dealership Friday evening at 6:20 PM, drove it off the lot at 7:30 PM. Price included tinted windows and Pro Pack (cargo tray, mud guards, wheel locks). Amount of time from first fax to drive-off? 2 and 1/2 days. Favorite part (not counting the amount of money and aggravation I saved)? Driving into the dealer lot, NOT dealing with the horde of sales people standing at the front door, including the one for whom I was the “up”, and asking for the manager. I’m convinced - fightingchance.com is the absolute best way to buy a car. My thanks go to this forum for all the valuable information and advice." I think from CC, Gunn in SA might be your best shot. They were very close to the deal I took. Good luck.
  • researchfreakresearchfreak Member Posts: 3
Very similar to deal I got in Dallas. My $28,750 OTD was with tinted windows, wheel locks, cargo net and tray, and front and rear mudguards.

The cash rebate was never advertized on honda or any site. but here in California the dealers have been pretty up front about $2K cash back if you don't use Honda special financing

something that is new is $500 cash back if you do use the special financing rate (if i'm not mistaken)

gas in Ca is fast approaching $4/ gallon will be a challenge to sell SUV's in this environment
  • cornucopiacornucopia Member Posts: 23
The current incentives include 2000 cash back PLUS (PLUS!), 500 cash back or special rate. i.e, you can get either 2500 rebate if you pay cash, or you get 500 rebate AND special rate.

Yes, it's 4WD; Cash price as Ohio, KY and IN did not offer special finacing as they took the lease offer instead in April. Honda is offering 2.9% financing this month + $500 cash or $2500 cash incentive.

Lowest price i have received so far in NJ (north) for a 2wd with nav is 28914 including destination and 29000 including navigation. of course tax etc., is extra. As a memeber of the Costco program when i call i only begin at invoice and work my way down.. folks here are willing to deal and some very ready to beat other competitors. try and get something in writing even an email for your leverage but do not be afraid to deny their offer..

Just purchased a 2006 EX-L with RES (~ 10000 miles) for $26000 out-the-door from a dealer in Atlanta. Seems like I got it for a good price. The condition of the SUV is excellent (as good as new). What do you guys think? Thanks
  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
If the taxes in Atlanta were $2000 or so and fees were minimal you got an excellent deal. If they are $300 or so you still got a pretty good deal.

Since the new May - Jul incentives were out I started to reach out to dealers to get the best price on an LX AWD version of the pilot. I have been pretty upfront so far with 3 dealers on what I expect to pay and it appears they are all honoring or about $100 off the $2k off if I use bank financing outside the 4.9%. They seem to be holding close to their vest the original 3% Honda holdback and they certainly want to take me deep on the add on pricing. Here is what I purposed to one so far - do you guys think I am nuts? I also put forth for them the option pricing using suggestions from the board from H&A so they could see I think they are too high on the option (materials only. I will post price quotes up when I am done but wanted to know if I was being Too Honest about my expectations.

2007 Honda Pilot 4dr LX AWD
    Exterior Color Dark Cherry Pearl
    Interior Color Gray

    Invoice Pricing $25,577.00
    Dealer Destination $595.00
    Base Car Invoice $26,172.00
Less Dealer Holdback (3% of base MSRP of $28395) -
    $852.00
    $25,320.00

Less Honda marketing support holdback if used bank
    financing $2,000.00
    $23,320.00
Add in costs of options desired of $1,875.00
Price Willing to pay before Tax, Title, License =
    $25,195.00

Still researching 4.9% APR for 60 months but if I used
Honda's financing ($500 mkt support holdback applied
vs $2k) then here is the bottom line price - $26,700

Here is the option Info I also disclosed:

I can get the part from on-line sites via H& A
    Accessories -
http://www.handa-accessories.com/pilelect06.html or through College Hills Honda -

    2007 EXL 4WD
    Selling Price: $26,696,31

This is exactly $4000 under invoice. Supposed to be a $2000 marketing support, but there may be more. Worth investigating further.
