Check again, that window decal says something more than just Mazda (hint hint). The place it takes you to is not helpful really.

Here's a '55 Pontiac Chieftain (somewhat lower down the food chain from the Star Chief), photographed when new. Note the differences in the bumper and parking lights from the '56. The '55 looks more like a smiling elephant.

My parents called the car "Eros." I don't even want to THINK of why. It actually had cup holders on the inside of the glove box door. (OK, actually round depressions about a quarter inch deep that wouldn't hold anything while the car was moving.) The poor thing finally died of a broken transmission around 1970.

Bonus points for anyone who can identify what's parked in the background.

Vintage pics are very cool

The background cars are hard for me. In the group at left, I think I spot an early 50s Mopar car, to its right a Chevy maybe, then a 55 Ford and to its right maybe a c.50 Chevy? In the closer group at right, the far left car looks like a Packard or Mercury maybe, then a 54 Dodge or Plymouth to its right, a Buick or Olds maybe to its right, and the far right car where you see just the rear fender and bumper - Pontiac?

'62 Buick. Three portholes means it had that aluminum V6 that didn't work out so well. It's kinda sad that GM's best V6 was its first, and things just went downhill from there for a few decades.

Three portholes means it was wasn't a top-of-the-line Buick (Roadmaster and/or Electra 225). which had four portholes.

As far as I know Buick never offered 2 portholes. Premium models got 4, and all others got 3. Now there were a few goofy years in in the late 50s  early 60s where Buick did violate that rule, but those years were the exception.

It's an Invicta with a Wildcat 401CID under the hood. I don't think any '62 Buicks employed a V6, perhaps you are thinking of the 3.5L / 231CID aluminum V8 used in compact Specials and Cutlasses that found it's way into various British cars including Rovers, Range Rovers, Morgans and Triumphs.

Yep it's a Lexus SC400 and those are stock h/ls AFAIK. Lexus sports cars seem to have gone backwards since the early 90s.

That's right it's the Avensis which provides the motor and chassis for the Scion tC.

Yep, I'd have to agree that it's an Avensis ... donor car, for those of you who may not know, for the Scion tC coupe. Smaller than the Camry platform, which makes it a bigger seller in Europe. "Repmobile" is what the Brits would call it.

The awkwardly-named Tiida. The white "Sport Concept" Nissan was showing around is essentially a 3-door version.

The Tiida is also the subject of perennial internet debate over whether or not it is the same car or platform as the Renault Megane.
