We got our IS250 AWD from DiFeo for $925 off MSRP. We were lucky and were able to get one in two days.

Wow - that was quick! I was prepared to wait for months for my New IS 350. Got Silver Black/Luxury/Nav package. About 43.5 MSRP, but got 2k off, and financed it at 5.5 (anyone know of anything better?), for 66 months ... came to around $550 mth, with 15k down (not a lease).

Thoughts? I'd be glad to give dealer info and details.
  • artie00artie00 Member Posts: 3
Yes please give dealer info and details. I'm lookin' for a new IS350 in the same area.

I contacted every dealer in the southeast and it came down to Lexus of Palm Beach and Wilde Lexus of Sarasota in Florida. Palm Beach made everything so much easier and they beat Wilde by $600.

    IS 350 black/black
    spoiler
    18" wheels
    accessory package

    $34,389.50 + title, tags, & taxes
    5.0% financing (local bank)

Now it's time to celebrate!!! ;););)

I'm looking at a demo 350 with about 2000 miles on it. It has the premium package and 18 inch wheels. The dealer is asking $35,500, which is obviously too much. How much should I offer? I'm not interested in the car unless I get a really good deal. This is in Southern California, where you can generally get about 1200 off MSRP. I was thinking of offering him invoice or less for the demo model.

    Congrats.

Can you tell me what other options you have on your IS350?

Approx. how much over invoice did you get it for?

I am trying to figure out the $34,389.50++

    Thanks.

I am curious, how much of a deposit did you have to put on it?

This will actually be my first purchase of a new car and I think the salesperson was giving me a run around. I wanted to see how the leasing option would be for an IS 350 with MSRP of about 45,250. It's pretty much for the fully loaded one. I hear people putting zero down and getting payments of about $580/month or so for a 36mth, 12k mile lease. Yet, she was quoting me if I put 5k down for 36month , 12k mileage, would cost me almost $673/month. What is she trying to pull and does this seem way too much?

I'm looking at a "new" IS350 at a dealership in the midwest that has 200 miles on it. I would greatly appreciate any recommendations on what would be a fair offer for this car. :confuse: Thanks!

I am going to lease a Lexis IS AWD w/ Nav. and luxury package. I have only been in the dealer 1 time and he quoted me the MSRP price of $39,919. I would like to put no money down but can afford to put down 2-3k if necessary, but the dealer is quoting me $659.00 a month w/ 12k miles and 2k down. I see other people paying much less w/ no money down. Is the car going for MSRP or do I have room to deal? If so How much do you think I should ask off? The car is not in stock and there is only 1 dealer in Columbus, Oh. Could someone please give me some HELP and GUIDANCE as to what type of price I should bring back to the dealer? MUCH THANKS!!!!

can you let me know what your dealers are giving you off I am trying to lease the same car. Are you putting money down, what is your MSRP, how long is your lease, how many miles?

    Thanks
  • qbnbornqbnborn Member Posts: 2
I tend to disagree... I dont agree on your statement that if you can afford a lease you should be able to afford a buy. You would need much more money down to have the same payments as the lease. Also just because you buy you dont really own the car until the last payment ( usually 60 month on a 40K car ) by that time your car is worth nothing and you are back where you started with a clunker and wanting a new car. The idea is if you can afford a payment of a certain amount, then lease based on that and have a new car every 3 years. Waiting on my IS350 have two coming to choose from Crystal White/Black and Sylver/Black both with Nav and Sport. MSRP of 41k not paying more than 39K.... Cannnnnnnnnt Waiiiiiiiit!!!!!! :o
  • krs71krs71 Member Posts: 6
That is way to much. I'm looking at the same car with nothing down, only fees, the lease should be around 400-450. It should never cross 500 bucks. Make sure the lease is constructed with the negotiated price - residual value. My dealership came down 2k on the vehicle to 37900, so minus residual value at 36 months / 12k per year, the value of the car should be 24743, so you should be paying finace charges on 13157 or so.....don't know if that helped. Right now he's quoting me 550, but with the math, it just doesn't make sense, so be prepared to fight, if not walk away, the real kicker here is the money factor is so high for these vehicles.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,190
You are actually paying finance charges on an average of the selling price and the residual value...

After all, you are borrowing the whole car for the time that you have it.. not just the part that you are using up..

Then why did the lexus finance guy say that I pay the finance charge on the difference of the MSRP and residual???? Now I'm more confused.......
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,190
Because he either doesn't know how to explain it, or he doesn't understand how the financing really works...

Just because you can enter the numbers into a program (or a spreadsheet), doesn't necessarily mean you understand the mechanics of it..

so basically I'm paying finance charges on MSRP, not the usage of the depreciated vehicle?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,190
Nope... you are paying on an average of the negotiated price and the residual..

    Example:
    $40K MSRP
    $38K Selling price
    $24K Residual

You pay finance charges on an average of $38K and $24K..

In essence, the bank is loaning you $38K (what you paid for the car).. and by the end of the loan (lease term), you will owe the residual amount (what the car is worth, so by returning it, the loan is paid off). So, the average amount financed is halfway between where you started ($38K) and where you end up ($24K).

Has anyone received $ off the MRSP? The dealership in Knoxville is unwilling to budge at all. VERY interested in the car, but am looking for some (a little at least) off the ticket price.
  • krs71krs71 Member Posts: 6
Basically it's highway robbery......you only use the vehicle for 14K dollar amount but pay 7K in finance charges.......wow.....and if you want to buy out the vehicle you still owe 24, thus your paying 40+ for a vehicle that has an invoice of 34K
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,190
Leasing is just an alternative method of financing a car.. It isn't any better or worse than buying the car.. It is just different..

It works for some people, but not others..

You can't borrow a $35K car, and only pay interest on $15K...

it would work for allot of people they weren't paying 7K interest on 14K depreciation :) :surprise:
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 266,190
Okay.. as I stated before... you aren't borrowing the depreciation.. You are borrowing the entire car..

It is just like renting a house.. No one is going to rent to you for less than the mortgage payment on the property.. Your lease payment has to cover the cost of borrowing the money, plus the depreciation..

Before considering leasing, it is very important to understand every aspect of it.. There are a lot of good articles here on Edmunds...

I have officially whittled my car choices to two. The TSX and the IS250. I would like some input on what the IS is going for around the country.
    1. Has anybody in the forum purchased an IS with the Sport Package? (I drove an IS without the package, it was enjoyable with the automatic, but would still like to try the manual if they ever get one in that isn't a "pre-order")
    2. What have dealers been taking off the MSRP?
Using the Edmunds.com information the invoice for this car is just over $30K but the MSRP is over $35K. What point between these two prices do you think dealers are willing to go?
  • njbuyer13njbuyer13 Member Posts: 3
We just purchased an IS 250 AWD with navigation and luxury package at Tri-State in NJ. We were quoted an MSRP of $37,619. Which when you look at the lexus website only includes the navigation package. Our dealer sent us the specs on the car and it includes everything that the luxury package should include. Anyway, we purchased the car at $36,500. We have in writing what the car is suppose to include such as the rear sunshade, memory seating, etc. We were told by our dealer that the cars that are being shipped to then already include the luxury package. So when we pick up our car we are hoping that the price did include the luxury package. Anyone else run in to this situation?

CMSCHMIE, I also think I've narrowed it down to the TSX and IS-250. I feel like I should go with the TSX, but the IS really excites me. Keep me posted on what you do!
  • digital_bdigital_b Member Posts: 129
actually I would like the dealership info please.looking in the springfield/hartford area.
  • indexcindexc Member Posts: 8
    Here is what I paid:
    IS 250 RWD A/T w/Premium Pkg MSRP = $33,234; I paid $31,734
    18" ISP Wheels w/Tires MSRP = $2,495; I paid $1,121
I paid $2,874 below MSRP. I think this is a great deal. Actually the deal was so good, that I have decided to buy instead of lease. I had three dealerships in my area (Cleveland, OH) fighting for my business and that is how I got the great deal. Let me know if you think I got a good deal.
  • cmschmiecmschmie Member Posts: 27
I am still a few months away (maybe sooner) from a purchase. It's going to be a graduation present to myself.
The thing I like best about the TSX is all that you get for the price (I am considering Nav system on this car, not the IS).
But man is the IS a looker. If I can get a deal that is $1500-$2500 more than the TSX I'll probably get the IS.
  • jlesbcjlesbc Member Posts: 7
Well i just signed my deal from a Houston dealer and was able to negotiate 3.5k off the msrp on a is 350. I could have probably done better if i would have waited six more months. But i gave in with the is's great looks. I think it was a very fair deal and the dealership was very forthright and a pleasure to deal with. For all those that haven't struck a fair deal be patient and be willing to walk away if you aren't satisfied. Till then i can't wait to get my car! it is suppose to take 90 days. :)
  • sosksosk Member Posts: 42
CMSCHMIE, once again, you sound just like me! Originally I was hoping to wait until summer. I was even thinking of waiting for the '07's, in case they add a horse or 2 to the 250 or break the packages so you can just get the desired options. But my very tired Buick is beginning to crumble, so I think I'll be buying in the next 2-3 months. The TSX is a great car but it just doesn't excite me like the IS does. I tend to keep a car a good 10 years or so, and that's how I'm justifying the extra $$$ of the IS over the TSX. We have a Magellan Nav system, and I love its portability - we take it on trips & never get lost.. O - happy graduation!!

Thats exciting news, which dealership did you visit in Houston?
  • originalsforiginalsf Member Posts: 2
After shopping all over, and out of state, I finally got a deal in SF. Most bay area dealers are schmoes, and unwilling to negotiate - I finally found one who gave me: IS350, Matador Red/Cashmere, Lux Package (LT), Navi/Mark Levinson, spoiler, accessory package - $41,300 ($2,000 above invoice) and $45,400 out the door. I didn't have to special order either - I picked it up today.
  • jlesbcjlesbc Member Posts: 7
The one on the Southwest Freeway. :)
  • artie00artie00 Member Posts: 3
originalsf, that's a great deal. Which dealership did you get it from in the SF area? And how did you get such a great deal? Must have been on the lot for a while.
  • originalsforiginalsf Member Posts: 2
Nope, it arrived the same day I bought it. I got it at Coliseum Lexus of Oakland. Good luck!
  • artie00artie00 Member Posts: 3
Did you get the deal from a salesman or from the sales manager?
  • miccscmiccsc Member Posts: 6
Im looking at that same car. Weighing the pros and cons of that vs. a bmw325. What dealerships did you go through? Parma, Bedford...?
  • indexcindexc Member Posts: 8
I had Metro Lexus in Brookpark, Classic Lexus in Mentor, and Lexus of Akron fighting for my business. I did the majority of my haggling via e-mail, I never even stepped foot into the Akron dealership, but they were the ones who gave me the best price via e-mail, so I sent a copy of the e-mail to the other two dealerships and they were willing to match the price. After my initial encounter at Metro, I never thought I had a chance to get one below MSRP, I'm glad I took the time to shop around and use the dealerships against each other.

    I am looking for IS350 w/

    Navigation/Mark Levinson
    Luxury Package w/ 18" Wheel
    Preferred Accessories

How much do you think I can get off from the MSRP? Most people told me $1500~$3000 but I like to get it $44,500 out the door. Is that possible?
  • ccjw511ccjw511 Member Posts: 23
Which dealer did you bought this vehicle? I like to buy one too with same options but I am still looking for a dealer who is willing to offer around $45,000. Thank you.
  • digital_bdigital_b Member Posts: 129
I put a deposit on mine with those specs minus the levinson for 41589 on a 4 year lease. I am somewhat second guessing not getting the ML but since I got xm for free and its what I listen to exclusively now I probably wont miss it. its in my current car now anyway.
