Wanted to lease a 2016 528i... I have never leased a car. I would like to know what I need to watch for. I plan to switch car every 3 years.
The fine print in the BWM on the 528i is $499.00 for 36 months based on MSRP of $51,195.00. $4,924.00 cash due at signing is based on $3,500.00 down payment, $499.00 first month payment, $925.00 acquisition fee, and $.00 security deposit. Tax, title, license, registration and dealer fees are additional fees due at signing. Payments do not include applicable taxes. All figures presented are examples only. Actual MSRP may vary. Lessee responsible for insurance during the lease term and any excess wear and tear as defined in the lease contract, $0.25/mile over 10,000 miles per year and a disposition fee of $350 at lease end. Purchase option at lease end (excluding tax, title, and other government fees) is $32,765.00.

That's just an advertisement. Not an actual offer from a dealer.
When you lease a car, you have to watch out for everything you watch out for when you buy a car... plus, more.
Hi, Wow, what a great form with so much awesome lease information.
I'm looking for my second lease on a BMW 528xi. My 2013 528xi is up next month and this time I want to do a Euro delivery. Currently I'm paying $448/month after putting down $3500 on a $56,200 build. I thought I could do even better this time since the new model is coming out next year, and the Euro pickup discount. BMW however is not matching my deals from 2013, which is making this harder to accept. I'm being told the Money Factor on Euro delivery is higher, instead of 0.00135 they say it's 0.00185 and they could only go as low as 0.00155. Also, they tell me the 5% from Euro delivery is off the base price, so any options I get are not discounted. However, they will pay my first month's lease with a Euro delivery.
My question is mostly about what kind of deal I can really get. If the car is 5% off base only for Euro delivery, then should I still expect 5-7% additional negotiated reduction in the price? And is this with options or without options? (My dealer is telling me they get no discount on options and pay the full amount listed on the BMW website, but I don't believe this.) Also, there's a $2000 credit for me as a recent MBA gets me $1K and local dealer is running a special event tonight that gives me another $1K if I attend. Should these also be applied before or after the 5-7% negotiated reduction? Also, is the residual 64% against the Build price, Negotiated price, or Base price?
Here's an example of my numbers. Am I in the ballpark? Cause this is not close to what BMW dealer is coming back with. (They want $3500 down and $645/month, which seems insane to me.) Base 528xi: $52,500 Build: $62,875 Acq.Fee: $995 (Should I still have to pay this on a Euro delivery?) Tax: $450 Misc. Fee: $506 Euro Discount: $2,625 TMV Discount 5%: $3,144 Rebate: $2,000 Final Price: $53,606 (dealer's saying $58,370 is the best they can do) Money Factor: 0.00155 Term: 3 yr/30,000 miles Residual: 64% Amount Financed: $14,867 (based on 64% resid. of Build price) Money Down: $3500 Monthly Payments: $434
.00135 MF and 64% residual for 36mo, 10K/yr. The adder for ED is .00030, bringing the base MF to .00165. Anything over that is markup for additional dealer profit. As the dealer noted, with ED, the 2nd payment is covered by BMWFS.
The acquisition fee is $925 (not $995), and this goes to the bank. It's part of the lease, so ED does not change that.
You should be able to negotiate just like usual, but with an extra 5% of the base price to play with, due to ED. The residual percentage is applied to the full US MSRP.
To get to your $53,600 number, your whole $3500 would go to CAP cost reduction, but you still have to make the first payment at signing. It's the 2nd payment that is waived.
Is the dealer counting the $2000 in rebates in their offer? Maybe, they aren't?
I don't know the market for this car, but let's assume that you can actually negotiate $5769 discount, leaving a selling price of $57,106. Add the fees listed, for a gross CAP cost of about $59,000. Use $2800 of your $3500 as a CAP cost reduction, leaving a NET CAP cost of $56,200.
.00165 MF 64% residual ($40,240) $62,875 MSRP $56,200 Net CAP cost $603/mo.+tax Due at signing = $2800 + 1st payment (almost $3500).
If you add in $2000 of rebates, then that would drop the payment to $544/mo.+tax.
I have been negotiating a lease on a new 535ix. Finally agreed on numbers but am now being told the dealer doesn't have any lease pull aheads this month. Does that sound right? I live in Pittsburgh PA if that makes any difference.

Hello everyone! I wanted your opinion on the deal below. I have been going back and forth with the lease return manager.
Car returning: 2013 X5 , 6mo left on 36mo lease, allowed miles 15K/yr. Current mileage 48k (3k over miles)
Car buying 2016 535D , MSRP 66200 2K total drive off 36mo , 15k per year total including tax 625 including tax state is California!
let me know if you guys think I should go ahead with deal??

Do you have positive or negative equity in your current vehicle?
What is the selling price on the new one?
Looks like a good deal on the surface.
Thank you for your response kyfdx!
I was told there is no pull ahead programs so far and that I wanna do the trade in before the x5 hits 50k since it will loose warranty. My current monthly payments on it are 690 incl tax. That means I'm bringing in 4140 of negative equity in the deal
i was told the 535D was marked down from 66200 to 55200. 11k of sticker. And I was given 3 k of incentives.
Do you think I have any wiggle room to negotiate further?

I'm pretty sure the $11K discount includes the $3K of incentives. The $4140 of negative equity will add $115/mo to your new payment. You might be better off paying the mileage penalty at the end of the lease; but, run the numbers to make sure.

Thanks for the reply! For the cap reduction, I am waiting for the dealer's answer. Will post once I have the answer. Thanks!
So the dealer replied me, Out off $3k, roughly $2200 will be down payment, since there is extra $1000 loyalty credit this month that will be applied. So if I put $3k total out of your pocket, it will show $4k on the contact.
This was the deal I got.

All I know on 428 gc msrp is 50995, they offer 3k down. $440 per month + tax. 36 months lease. Should I take the offer? My bad, I didn't realized I posted in the wrong forum.

You wanna know the truth? For Socal this deal is garbage. dealer will be making a ton on this one especially since he's using your $1000 loyalty.
Now if you get him down to 1000 drive off, before your loyalty. And apply the $1000 to the drive off. Making it a true 0 down deal. the $1000 goes towards first month and license registration.
this is a very easy deal, as he's selling you a cpo.

Edit: I'm in Southern California
Do you know the selling price and/or CAP cost?
How much is due at signing?
Does that include tax, and if so, what is your tax rate?

At those numbers, I get $642/mo. Must be something off on your numbers. (Either price or MSRP is wrong?)

With your prices, I get $642/mo - your quote looks really good by comparison. I would confirm the adjusted capitalized cost.

Kyfdx!
Thanks again for your help. Here is my deal I got below.
Bmw 535D ,M sport, drivers [non-permissible content removed], driver [non-permissible content removed] plus, metallic gray
MSRP 68331

36mo, 15k per year
580.75
tax-california 52
Total payment per mo 633
Total out of pocket incl drive off 2000.00
I had an X5 6mo away from lease end and 2k over its 45k total miles
They just ended up buying my car instead of a lease rtn
Looking at my lease papers it says the total we put down is 4139
They got this by
Net trade in allowance 1139
Rebates-loyalty 1000
Total amt put in cash 2000
I think i did good considering i was paying 690 incl tax for the X which had an MSRP of 64k. Now im paying 633 a mo for a car MSRP is 68k. Plus im saving alot on gas. My X5 was gonna need its tires replaced soon and also was over miles.....
Let me know your thoughts.
Hope this helps fellow buyers
Also, can you kindly tell me if this is a good deal for 2016 528i?

Without the residual adjustment for the miles, I get $444/mo with tax using your prices.
How much of the drive off is going to cap reduction?

Thanks for the reply! For the cap reduction, I am waiting for the dealer's answer. Will post once I have the answer. Thanks!
So the dealer replied me, Out off $3k, roughly $2200 will be down payment, since there is extra $1000 loyalty credit this month that will be applied. So if I put $3k total out of your pocket, it will show $4k on the contact.
This was the deal I got.
Prior Loaner with 5800 miles
MSRP $56095 (Camera, navigation, m sports)
Selling $46688
10k per year, 3 year lease
$3000 drive off
$435 including taxes
Good deal? Or at least reasonable? Again, I am in socal orange county with 8% sales tax.
Thanks in advance!

Now if you get him down to 1000 drive off, before your loyalty. And apply the $1000 to the drive off. Making it a true 0 down deal.
the $1000 goes towards first month and license registration.
this is a very easy deal, as he's selling you a cpo.
Do you have the residual, MF and possible loyalty credit for May for the 2016 528 xi?
Thanks
.00138 and 64% for 36 months, 10,000 miles per year.
