It happens. The tire store dropped my BIL's Altima off a lift. Only about a foot fall but incurred some damage.

BTW, did someone post a picture of the damaged RR. I don't see it.

I suspect servicing wouldn't be bad - I think that engine is effectively the same unit as in the W212 E400, which was sold stateside.

With the depreciated Loonie/strong Greenback, Canada can be a bargain place for some types of shopping right now. I see older cars for sale in Vancouver that are definitely cheaper than Seattle.

When you saw cars in Vancouver did you do the exchange difference, 1 USD $ is = .76 cents CDN. Makes a big difference.

I could take a run down there and take a look at it for you, though it is probably all wrapped up. I live a few miles from the Autoport.

You'll have no problem, I am sure the filters etc are the same. I have a MB that went out of production in 1965, and I can still order mechanical parts from the dealer (at healthy prices). MB has excellent parts support, and I think if you have a part number, you can get anything even if it needs to be sent from Germany.

I think the Loonie was about 74 US cents today - makes some things north of the border a bargain. But others not so much, plenty of Canadians still come to western WA to shop.

You should have looked into buying a 2017 E400 in Canada. It isn't offered in the US, but it has a V6 and 339 hp. Cost would be about $76000 Cdn which would be about $56000 USD. Might be a long drive for servicing.

When I was a school principal in Illinois, the afternoon and evening of the last day of school before the winter break, my wife and I would hold an open house for the holidays. We would serve corned beef, turkey, pastrami, chicken wings, tacos, all kinds of salads and coleslaw, a huge selection of cheeses, roast beef, macaroni and cheese, ham, all kinds of fruit and pies and cake, to name just a little of what we would serve. Usually, we would have over 100 people in and out all afternoon and evening. Luckily, we had a huge family room living room, basement and dining room so we cold accommodate all these guests. I had a fire going in the fireplace and we would serve punch, soda, and fruit drinks. If guests wanted something stronger than what we were serving, it was BYOB and we would provide the glasses and ice.

We held the open house for 15 consecutive years and, to be honest, I miss the comradery and excitement of this time of year - sharing what we had with our friends and neighbors and employees. Alas, I will be spending the day and evening all alone - kids have their own lives and couldn't get away. But it is what it is.

I took a drive by and saw a white E but no pano roof. There were thousands of cars there today though so I might have missed it.

Could also be that other cars were parked off center and they just parked right next to them and they were the last to leave.

When I ran a high volume shop one of my guys drove a car head first into an alignment pit. It took two tow trucks a couple of hours to get it out. It ruined my rack so it was a good thing we had four alignment pits!

The customer was NOT happy!

There is one case where a customer might be happy if his car was driven into an allignment pit - if his wife hated the car and was badgering him to get rid of it day-in and day-out for two years straight. The employee who drove the car into the pit would receive a reward. In all other cases, however, the customer would not be happy, isell!

The ending certainly wasn't what I expected. But yes, for a Star Wars fan, mandotory watching. I went to see it in iMax 3D, and I was a bit disappointed in the 3D processing. Not nearly up to the standards set by films like Avatar. I would say, bypass the 3D, just see it in 2D.

Happy Holidays everyone. Hope all are enjoying the festivities and family reunions.

Being that everything is closed today, I decided to go over to the Casino (they are never closed) and play some penny slots. After a couple of hours, I was $300+ dollars richer. Since I haven't been in a Casino in almost 5 months, once I put my player's card into a machine, the computers must have gone into "bring him back more often" mode to "lure" me back into the gambling habit by letting me win some money - definitely a good marketing tool. But I can't handle the smoke in that place.

They do have an upstairs room (very small) that is smoke-free, which is where I went. They have about 50 slots and 5 or 6 Blackjack tables. Of course they have a nice bar as well and serve complimentary soft-drinks. But you still have to walk through the main Casino to get to the elevators that take you up to the second floor smoke-free room. That smoke is just too much for me.

Downstairs, they have an area where they advertise the car they are giving away this month. Sitting there was a red Maserati Ghibli Sedan with an MSRP of $89,200, nicely loaded. It seemed the size of a Jaguar XF. Without a doubt, those Italians sure know how to put great styling and looks into a car. Interior seemed a bit cramped, but most cars would seem cramped to me after driving the BMW 740i. Definitely a nice giveaway car for December - and the right color for this time of year - bright Red with Black interior.

Just think, if you win the car, you add the almost $90,000 to your income for tax purposes. That would put most people into another bracket and limit, if not eliminate, many deductible expenses based upon the revised income. Even if you gave the car away to a Charity, it still affects your ability to deduct certain expenses. I wonder if you have to pay sales tax as well on something like that?

Canadian version of Discovery Channel had a Fantom Works marathon last night, so I recorded them on the DVR and have been watching some of them this afternoon. This is a show I liked when I first saw it, but seeing a few back to back has made me cool off on my liking it. Like all so-called reality shows, it suffers from too much fake drama and endless editing to make things seem different from reality, but what I am finding annoying today are some of the rather obvious errors and overstatements that the thing seems to run on. The narration on one last night got the wheelbases on both a Chevelle and a Camaro wrong within about 15 seconds. Another one with a '64 GTO made it sound like it was a Ferrari when it came to parts availability. Another one with a '67 Cougar had them unable to make the sequential taillights work due to the ancient OE controller, when a quick search revealed all that stuff is available repro. I don't understand if they just do this for the show or if they are really this obtuse. Watching a bunch of these has sort of soured me on the show.

The Caribbean is experiencing some of America's best - the daily siting of "bwia" and his immediate family. We have been experiencing above normal temps with the usual passing showers that accompany the winds off the ocean, but mostly sunny.
