    Yep the ad says it was repainted from Salmon/ivory to yellow/ivory which I think is an improvement but then yeah, that dash color is whack.

    The mystery about the Rebel wagon would have been MY, I couldn't tell. What's market for that (me like 50s-60s wagons)?

    Fairly uncommon car but I'd guess for a nice clean driver or "local show" car, perhaps $16K--$18K. The V8s will bring more than that mousy one.

    More likely than not, those cute Pinanfarina cars are hot-rodded.

    The deer are admiring a Toyota 2000 GT - about 1966 I think - they made a couple of roadsters too by just cutting off the roof for the James Bond film You Only Live Twice.

    Yup, it's obviously a staged photo for a magazine article. I don't think those are deer, perhaps vicunas or alpacas.

    I see a 1952 Mercury and 2 or 3 '52 Fords. So I'd go for 1952.

    Oldest car I can positively ID is a 39 Ford at lower left, with window visors. There's another old car across the street, in front of the building with banners on it, a guy leaning on the car, that appears to be a couple years older.

    The Nash almost dead center in the picture is the one I find interesting. Is that a '51 Airflyte?

    I'm going to back him up, and say that until I looked more closely, my first instinct was kangaroo, for the animal in front right. Obviously, that's not it.. it was just the angle.

    LOL! That picture is like a Rorschach test! Everybody has a favorite story about their psych professor in college. My favorite day in class was when we were all shown the same ink blot graphic on a projector screen (remember projectors?). One by one, he made us tell what we saw-the first impression, at first sight.

    After hearing enough, he held up one hand and looked over the "contestants" and pointed out a girl and told her, "you must see me after class." She took the bait and asked what was wrong. "Nothing I just really want to see you after class!" Good times.

    Honestly, my first thought on the animal nearest the camera was kangaroo but then I realized it was just the angle. These could be deer, perhaps a species of small deer native to Japan but they are furrier and smaller than the eastern white tail deer I see semi-regularly.

    Another oldie is the car directly to the left of the Nash in the middle. Looks like a mid range GM product from around 1937, possibly an Olds.

    You're talking about the Ford facing the camera in the left lower corner. Yes the horizontal grille bar shows slots as seen on the '54 Fords but not on the '53s but it's seen on '52 Fords as well>

    The 1952 Fords had a parking light with a 3-prong star, like a mini Mercedes emblem of today. The Ford in the lower left shows that 3-prong parking lamp as does the very plain Ford in the lower right corner of the picture.
    So I called them both 1952 models.

    Is there an identifier on the car sideways in the picture below the staked-sided truck that shows it's a 1953? Both 52 and 53 have the bulges on the angled side trim in front of the rear wheel.

    The Mercury has a crossbar on the trunk ornament. That makes it a '53. The 52 and 53 have the same taillights from what I can find on the net.

    Darned good question and now that I look I see that the white car must be a '52 because it doesn't have the sidespear on the rear fender clearly visible on '53s>

    Either we are very good at free-associating or are very bad at staying focussed. It wasn't for nothing, however. I for one learned that my inability to judge angles may explain why I never took good photos.

    The Mainline trim line didn't have the side spear, IIRC, but the Crestline and Customline did.

    I think that is a Type 3.

    My folks owned a '67. Bought new. Beige. Took a family vacation in it in the summer of 1971. Southern California to Upstate New York to see the grandparents. The back seat got folded down and I rode with the luggage. My sister (4 at the time), was on my mom's lap.

    I still remember the license plate number of that car - VVG 784

    Sadly, it suffered a catastrophic engine failure in the summer of 1973 and we bought the Toyota Corona.

    Yup, that is a 1972 Volkswagen Type 3 sold in the US as a VW "Squareback".

    My father actually bought that car's cousin new in 1962. I have only a vague memory of it as he did not keep it long. His was turquoise and white but the bodystyle was like this:

    It thought the opposite neither is great looking but the Capri coupe is a badly rendered shrunken 1960 US Ford Starliner>

    There's a huge dose of 60 Ford in the Consul/Capri of 1961-63:

    I don't mind the hardtop - the others are a little odd due to the reverse C-pillar, which is always difficult to get right. An actual 60 Ford would have been inconvenient in much of the UK, to say the least - just too wide.
