question for the experts. Since the RDX doesn't have navigation (and for some reason, getting the phone to talk through the car is nearly impossible) I want to get a mount so I can use the phone without it sitting in the console or on my lap.

can anyone recommend one? I assume there are newer options than vent clip ones, or are those still a good way to go? Not sure I want to stick it to the windshield (for one reason, it is hard to reach that far) so either something on the top of the dash (or possibly the little ledge below the center display screen I would stick a mount base) or old school vent (there is one just to the right of the steering wheel which is reasonably high up. Just not sure about knuckle clearance!)

I do want it to be easily removable since I likely will only use it rarely when I need google maps up.

My son uses a vent clip. He gave up on the window mount suction cup.

I was watching GPS on CNN this morning. A guest on the show was attemping to explain why Americans are so angry and the benefits of channeling this anger. He cited a Umass Armherst study that illustrates just this point.

A man bought a new car and showed it to his mistress before showing it to his wife. When the wife learned of this fact she was levied and burst into anger. After the flame-out she agreed that he can keep his mistress but the next time her husband buys a new car he show it to her first before his mistress. See, there are benefits to being angry after all. :@

I've posted a good windshield mount one before, but I also have this one, which has been great, even though it is technically a vent clip. The magnet is very strong and holds up my 6-plus even with my double-layer phone case. I have a magnet portion in both my car and the minivan, so when I get into either one, I just slap my phone onto the dash. Couldn't be easier.

Rotors actually don't warp very often. When you feel that wobble in the brake pedal, that is more than likely the fault of the brake pads shedding material onto the discs.
If that's the case, that Buick has defective pads. I've never had pads give me that problem. Anytime I've had a pulsing brake pedal every time I applied the brakes it was a warped rotor. However, I wouldn't put it past GM to build cars with defective pads. OK @imidazol97, time to hear from you.

Well that's kinda my point---did you actually see the warp on a run-out gauge, or did the repair shop just assume (as some shops do), that pulsing brakes require turning of the rotors and new pads.

The reason I brought this up is that this very thing happened on my Mini---rather vicious brake-pulse, and the rotors were as true as can be. New pads installed, problem gone.

I'm not saying rotors don't warp, but merely that it's worth checking them before condemning them as the culprit.

My next door neighbor painted the trim on his garage and took of the house numbers so he could paint that area. Well that night he had a pizza delivered but he forgot to put the numbers back on the garage. He told me it took the delivery guy a half hour to figure out which house was his.

My next door neighbor painted the trim on his garage and took of the house numbers so he could paint that area. Well that night he had a pizza delivered but he forgot to put the numbers back on the garage. He told me it took the delivery guy a half hour to figure out which house was his.

We have a host that delivered pizzas at one time and I bet that paint job wouldn't have fooled him even 3 seconds.

don't laugh. we took the RDX over to the wilds of PA for a holiday party today, and that is how we navigate when together. She holds the phone and tells me when I need to do something.

problem comes in when I am solo (or more accurately, when she is alone!)

I'll take a look at the link you posted. I actually have a decent sized shelf in front of the display screen when I could stick a mount base that can be used to hood a holder onto. SO when not in use, nothing in the way. And that is in the perfect sightline.

That vent clip one looked good. So I ordered it. I am just not sure if it will leave enough clearance on the vent close to the steering wheel. Might be OK on the one to the right of the stereo. So just in case, I ordered this one too that might work if it doesn't block the radio display.

I’m making this post because I have to fill up the box with something. Today the system keeps putting part of old posts back in the box and telling me my draft was saved. I’ve tried to delete it but no luck.

Also the system started kicking me off about once a day which requires me to sign back in. Previously my login lasted for months unless I logged out myself.

Why are you still having problems with this new system? Do like I did and change your handle. I don't have too many problems with my new handle. I think Edmunds is like insurance companies and cable companies that value new customers more than their old long time customers. Stop fighting it and become a newbie and reap the rewards.

I carried a three cell MagLite when I delivered; I hated houses without numbers or hidden numbers. I did ring a wrong doorbell or two in my time.

The few times I've need to replace OEM rotors, I found that NAPA top-end units (Select?) seem to work fine. They are affordable and I have yet to have a repeat of the warping. However, I have yet to have rotors warp during my ownership, so I may be easier on them than other drivers. As such, my experience counts for nil.

This is Lily. She turned 15 this month. Like Gigi, she had a bunch of teeth removed recently. Unfortunately, she is starting to exhibit some issues with balance, so she is at the pet hospital and will get tests tomorrow to figure out what is going on. Wife and I have decided that we will not subject her to surgery, so we are hoping we can treat whatever is wrong with her with medication to preserve her quality of life.

Wife and I have decided that we will not subject her to surgery, so we are hoping we can treat whatever is wrong with her with medication to preserve her quality of life.

I am hoping for the best possible results for Lily. We wouldn't have done any extraordinary surgery for Gigi either. You want to do everything you possibly can to help, but, I have never seen it really work. People can pay $5000 or $10000 and their dog will live a short time longer but quality of life is usually very poor.
The kindest thing you can do is say Lily had a good life, she lived to a very good age, best to put her down with dignity while she is still functioning reasonably well. But, medicine can work, we thought we were losing Gigi a year ago because of pancreatitis, but the vet was able to find a solution, mainly low fat food.

I did say to Mrs D, I would pay $10000 if I was guaranteed Gigi would live well for 5 more years, but, that wasn't going to happen.

I hope the medicine works for Lily, that would be the best, and that she does have several more good years.

I would think that if you were looking for 123 Fake St. and saw 121 Fake St then next to it a house with no number on it and next to that 125 Fake St you would be able figure out the number of the house with the missing number.

This talk of dogs ... our new'ish pup had an incident a few weeks back. They have no idea what happened but one day he just suddenly got violently ill. He had fluids simply pouring out of both sides and acted like he wanted to lie down and die. Took him to the hospital where they ran a battery of tests and put him on IV with anti-nausea meds and broad spectrum antibiotics. Tests were inconclusive. He straightened up within 24 hrs and they sent him home after 48 hrs and $2000. We can only assume he ate something poisonous because he eats EVERYTHING, but no clue what it could have possibly been.

Michaell, I hope it’s something that some meds can cure. 15 years in dog years is quite a long life and with you as her close friend, I am sure they’ve been great years. I do wish her the best!

That's the way I did it when I drove for UPS for a little while after getting out of the Navy and working my way through night school.

I don't know, but hopefully he learned his lesson! First time, I would probably do the same as you did. Second time, I would just put him on his tether outside and let nature have its way.

I recall someone suggesting storing your car(s) with the wheels off the ground to prevent the flatspotting that occurs from sitting a long time on one part of the tire.

Just started through my Classic Car that came today and I saw this ad for plastic ramps that you park your car on to reduce the flatspotting by having a radius that approximates the curve of the tire so the bottom carrying the weight doesn't develop as much of a flat spot.

Thanks for the info Imid. Someone did mention those ramps when I had the problem....they cost $200 to $300, and I would need them for 3 cars if I was going to do it. Seems most decent tires will fix themselves after about 20 miles of driving....I think I will just do that unless the tires don't fix themselves. These tires are sitting on rubber mats which may help, and over inflating before storing may help too.

Yes they are people. Dogs try not to show pain because that could be trouble in the wild. But, they show pain by not sleeping, by not eating, by shivering, by wanting to sleep and many more ways.

I remember when I was a kid we rarely took our dogs to the vet. I don't think too many people bought dog food, mostly they ate table scraps. I don't remember dogs having surgery, and I don't think they lived very long.

Had to go into MB service this morning to have them add air to my tires. TPM displayed 29 psi for the fronts and 34 psi for the rears this morning. Going down to 48 degrees tomorrow morning so I wanted to make sure the air pressure was 35 psi for all 4 tires - this way the pressure will be 32 psi in the cold air tomorrow.

My front tires only have about 2000 miles left on them. Rears are fine for another 5000-6000 miles. These run flats wear out very quickly - especially in the front. I am not hard on my tires - but service manager said these tires rarely last past 10,000-12,000 miles. He suggested putting Michelin’s on which provide 16,000-20,000 miles of wear.

He said he will meet the lowest price online for any tires I want - even Tire Rack. That was stupendous considering dealerships usually charge 20% more than Tire Rack or other suppliers. This way I have Mercedes change the tires and reset the TPM’s which is preferrable.

Always seemed to me that anything cars or automotive cost more in FL. Toyota even has that ripoff Southeast Toyota distributor that forces all kinds of add on crap onto the buyer. Probably cheaper to buy a car up north and drive it back really.

Holy crap it’s getting tough to log in here! Just got thrown out again even though I never logged out and the site resisted all attempts to log in the way i’ve done it for years (the howdy stranger box). Went so far as to try to start a new account with my wife’s email only to be told that the information I had just typed in was invalid. Tried my original email and was told alternately that the info was incorrect or that it didn’t exist.

I finally hit a sign in icon up at the top and it worked but even then I had to change my password.

This is really bad!

Actually, except for Toyota, new car pricing here in South Florida is excellent due to heavy competition. We have the highest volume Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Honda, VW, Toyota, Hyundai, Nissan and Infiniti dealerships in the country.

Most snowbirds (winter only residents) purchase their vehicles here rather than up north. I’ve purchased cars in New York, Illinois, California Pennsylvania and Florida and have found that I get better deals here in South Florida.

One of the largest Ford dealers too....Brandon Ford. Very aggressive and competitive, prices seem to be pretty good here.

Mike, I had Continentals on the C250 and now I have Michelins....what a difference, and I mean for the better. The Michelins hold the road better, ride better, and they grip the road better after it rains and the roads get slick when oil comes to the surface.

One more thought Imid. I think those would be good if you were storing your car for a very long time...my car is just 7 months. Also good if you have a show car with specialty tires or tires that won't get round easily. My brother in law had tires that had flat spots that stayed, he got Michelins and they go back to being round after a short drive.
