Well the one thing that pops up in my mind is the Trans Am/Camero same car with a slightly different skin. Also refresh my memory wasn't the Bonneville/Impala/Le Sabre pretty much the same car with just slight differences with the look?

The X1/9 might have been the absolute worst car in the US market, in the '70s. And, that's saying something.

Yes, in that case the Camaro was for Chevy dealers to sell and the Firebird (Trans Am) was for Pontiac dealers, similar with Bonneville, LeSabre and Impala, or Ford and Mercury, they made the same basic car for different lines, but each had it's own distinctive style. But they didn't take one of their larger models, like a large Cadillac, and make a smaller cheaper version, that was say the size of a Corvair....and use the same styling as say the larger Cadillac.
When Cadillac made the small Cimmaron in 1985 it looked a lot different than the full size Caddie;

For the sake of truth and integrity, I got a generic picture of a similar car from the internet, I couldn't copy it from the guys photo. But it looks almost exactly the same.

We’ve been getting ready for that tropical storm east of us which is forecast to become a CAT 1 hurricane tomorrow night. Right now they predict it to make landfall in Palm Beach County or the Vero Beach area which is about 45-90 miles north of me. I am 3 miles south of Palm Beach County. But the winds of 35-70 mph extend out over 300 miles. This is a huge storm, especially this late in the hurricane season.

I went food shopping this morning - Publix was empty which really surprised me. They had full shelves of every item. My daughter lives in Boynton Beach (3-4 blocks north of Delray Beach) 3 blocks from the ocean on US-1. Since they are expecting a 4-5 foot storm surge up there, she will need to evacuate. She will come to me along with those children of hers - 2 young cats. Ahhhh, my dreams (nightmares) of sharing my condo with 2 cats is coming to realization.

My first new car was a ‘66 Bonneville 2 door hardtop. I personally never thought it had anything in common with an Impala or Le Sabre other than they were all GM cars.

Yes.
That's not a pic of the exact unit, but right color. Not common, as you can imagine, so I have no gauge what they go for in Japan. I'm taking a guess at a price I'm comfortable with and we'll see what happens. I could be way under.

OMG. I had one of them. Yes, fun to drive, but I only was able to use it about half the time I had it.

I traded it at a Chevy dealer. They thought it was a Triumph TR-7.

That Cimarron was really a fancy Cavalier....kind of insulting to Cadillac buyers. A V6 in that little car would help. There is a really good site that shows how the Big 3 used similar platforms to make all different brands of cars.

I did discover from some research that Carvana apparently cornered the market on used Miata’s. Almost every one advertised for sale is from them. Mostly at crazy prices too. That stinks.

Sorry, but I'm keeping it. Just to see if you fit and want a good test drive. How about up route 9, over the Rouses Point Bridge, down route 2 through the Islands and back to the ferry? It's a PRHT, but headroom is similar to the soft top.

Thanks for the offer. We are planning on a weekend in Burlington but that won’t be happening until spring. I think there are a couple around here I can stop to see. Unfortunately automatics but should be able to tell anyway most of what I need.

There is a current-model HT Miata that apparently lives nearby since I see it on my street fairly often. When it goes past I wonder how anyone other than a jockey can fit behind the wheel. It looks *really* tiny with the hardtop in place.

The Cimarron was a very unhappy chapter in Cadillac history. The dealers were hurting in the early ‘80s and were screaming for a smaller car to sell against the German imports running around Beverly Hills. In typical fashion for GM at the time, having lost sight of their original goal, they redoubled their efforts and brought out a tarted-up Cavalier that fooled nobody as to its origins, with a stratospheric price tag and not enough power to pull the skin off a pudding. As the article posted notes, by the end they had finally made it decent at least, but by then it was too late.

Ferry is closed for the season but looks like a fun thing for the spring or summer. Though it is quicker to just drive directly to Burlington!

I had unlimited headroom in my NB Miata. With the top down, which it almost always was. Also fine top up, but the header blocked view a bit. My problem was not enough room for my legs and feet.

The ferry from Plattsburgh to Grand Isle is year round, 24/7. The ferry to Burlington from Pt. Kent has been closed for 3 years and is probably not going to be resumed. The ferry company is happier building boat slips and probably soon a hotel at the terminal.
