just read car and driver last night. They had a quick test of a Camry XSE V6. Overall, quite complimentary on the upgrades to styling and interior. And it was fast. Got pricey though with options. But biggest drawback, dynamically the car was overwhelmed by the engine. Suspension, tires, brakes all not up to the task. So fine if you putt around, but mostly, need to stick with the 4 banger too!
I'd say a 14.4 second quarter mile is a tiny bit quicker than average for the class- although I'm sure that the XSE is so BOLD that the mid-pack performance is gladly overlooked. Seriously, I'd not hesitate to spend around $5k more and get a lightly optioned RWD Giulia or 330i- little if any quicker, but much safer, as you won't risk dying of boredom behind the wheel.

I was driving a rental car trim Camry yesterday and it had red stitching across the black plastic dashboard. Couldn't decide if I liked it or it was a bad attempt at flair.

that is my next dream. Moving (though at the pace my wife is going, I may be moving out in a body bag) and somehow getting the mortgage paid off. Told her that once that happens, we can discuss retiring.
but, pretty sure every jurisdiction charges fees for recording deeds and mortgages. government ain't free!
$35 for my driver's license renewal. That's a princely sum of money for a small piece of plastic.

Some poor old woman tried that at the drivethru and they kept badgering her for what she did "before". Felt bad for her since the interior speaker in the bank broadcast her responses to everyone in line.
How about "BUM" for before being retired. I was tired of being a bum, so I retired.

Yeah, but if you amortize that amount over the length of validity, how much is it costing you? About as much as a Rite-Aid watch, me thinks.
One thing BMW was starting to do(shortly before I left) was to target potential buyers of a new Accord or Camry and tempt them with a 2 or 3 year old CPO 3er, 4er or 5er for the same cost or (more likely) less. I'd be surprised if Audi and M-B didn't have a similar program.

Yes - they were running 0.99% financing on CPO cars out to 60 months for a while, which made them a great deal if you could nab one in the mid-upper 20s.

I believe I paid $25.00 for my renewal last time and the license is valid fo 6 or 7 years. A little over $4.00 a year is darn cheap. Our tags run $55.00 a year, but I register for 2 years and have “Save The Florida Panther” optional plate - still around $275 for 2 years with a hefty amount going directly into saving panther activities.

Worked for me. My CPO 2015 Infiniti Q40 AWD (purchased with under 7,500 miles, currently a tick over 30K) cost LESS than my brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy.

Toyota used to be panned for lack of styling, now it has applied too much. Quantity won over quality. The new Camry is fine from the sides, but front and rear can be kind of "woof". Maybe the worst is Toyota claiming "bold" "aggressive" "stylish" etc in ads, which may embolden drivers.
Sentra makes me think rental car.

Have you ever been approached by and berated by an individual in a '96 Honda Accord who tells you "there is no way you should even be attempting to park that behemoth" while parallel parking (perfectly I might add) a Chevy Tahoe on the street near Yankee Stadium?

Remember, my first estimate to have the carpet removed (850 sq ft) and wallpaper removed.....8ftX8ft was $1248. I went on a site where they list jobs, and the first guy who replied did it for $400....took him 2 hours but he worked hard and knew what he was doing. He said his girlfriend does cleaning and would remove wallpaper.........her estimate to remove wallpaper was $150. The job that could have cost $1248 will get done for $550 - probably about what his security deposit will be. Then she is going to clean the place for $200. Just Junk took a full load away, that cost $550. They had to come back for 1/6th of a truck load $225.
I am getting there. What makes it worthwhile is that my brother is so much better off in his new seniors apartment. It is bright and looks clean and neat, he has dinner with others, and it has made a good positive difference in his life.
No one should live on their own in one place for 35 years......they get used to it and can't see what is wrong.

Some truth in that. My sister lost her husband to cancer last year and has just gone through a relocation. Married in 1968, they lived in 2 houses and were together/raised family in them for 50 years. The second one they designed themselves with the help of an architect and had it built. Lived in it for 25 years. Too many bad memories of his last years in it (he died at home, his choice but must have been awful on her) so she sold it and relocated to a brand-new apartment complex. It is very deluxe, quartz counters, quality finishes everywhere, very nice public areas. She got rid of most everything and bought new furniture, etc. Starting a new life at age 72 and seems to be doing OK.

I actually like the Sentra's body design more than the Altima's. To me, with automobile design, small looks better. The back end of the Sentra's design is neatly tucked in and the front is sharp looking. Credit Nissan for not overdoing it with the widened-U up front. Just the right amount of bling chrome up there...I tip my hat to them for that. I also think that Nissan engineering is as sound as a pound, too.

I think you described the Sentra's front design nicely. It says "I'm an automobile and I have taste." I consider it like the whole 1966 Chrylser Imperial design shown in another forum here. It was tasteful for its era. (The rear maybe not so much.)
Here the front doesn't try to look like an Praying Mantis or other alien creature ready to pounce.
I hate to be the one to do this, but it is an Imperial, not a Chrysler Imperial. Calling it the latter is like referring to a Ford Lincoln or a GM Cadillac.
But I know it is a common misnomer, and old habits are hard to break...
Back from my trip to Ohio, actually yesterday. Spent part of the time at my daughter's helping keep track of the dogs, They just got a new puppy. Also went to Kettering to visit my sister and see her new house. We went to dinner on Friday in Dayton. Lots of activities going on. They had the fountains cranked up and a blue grass band playing in the band shell. Fusion did great, averaged 34 mpg for the whole trip(exactly highway EPA rating). Went from Youngstown to Rocky River to Kettering and back to Rocky River on one tank. 533 miles, DTE still read 34.

The 2018 Kia Cadenza with the Tech Package, at $39,200 is worthy competitor to the Avalon. (insert pic here)
For exterior styling....I would choose the Cadenza;
especially from the front view.
Interior; Hyundai/Kia is always a little bit behind on interior styling trends....play it real safe. Hard to be an original and creative....when you are the copycat wannabe.
Looks an awful lot like an Optima with a fancy grill and slightly upgraded interior (but same style). Almost like all parts are interchangeable..... yes, that similar.

I really liked the little Versa Note I rented. Only the lack of safety features like BLIS and rear cross traffic alert kept it off my final list.
A3, A4, A6, A8. How do you tell the difference other than how much room they take up in a parking space?
Well, in the past, the A3 was a sport/hatch back, but now that isn't so any longer.
The A3/A4 have the 2.0, the A6 "should" have the 3.0, and the A8 sadly settles for the 3.0 too, nowadays, but the older ones had a 4.2 or even a 5.2 engine.

I think Imperial became a separate Mopar division for the 57 model year. Before that, it was an up level Chrysler. Kind of went back to the former around 67 or 68 I believe. That may be explain the sometimes confusion.
I was referring to your comment on the Optima/Cadenza, guess I had to spell it out.
I suppose there is a similar look up and down the line, but the size is different, whereas to me, the Optima is already big.
Also, the interior bits seem to be quite different in different Audi's. Maybe less so with the latest generation. It's actually sad because I don't like the I-Pad on the dash look of the new Audi's interior center.

Zero-ed right up on the Sentra hindquarters. I do believe I am getting to really like what Nissan has accomplished here. The way I look at car styling, when you take this look and stretch it out into an Altima or Maxima, it loses its appeal. The design parameters are too stretched out on the sides and the car looks too much like a Japanese limousine.

Saw a woman driving a nice Mercedes sports car today, with the license: WAS-HIS
On my way to Chick Fil a (that rhymes), I was passed by a black Mercedes convertible driven by a woman. SL500. The screen was up behind her and she was flying along enjoying the mild temperatures. The car was beautiful but I have no idea what year it is. The taillights were rectangular, not like the more recent SL500 taillights I found. The car had the traditional tasteful lines of earlier MB's.
Probably a doctor... I kept up with her into the city where she exited onto a major exit which made me suspect she was headed to our large hospital. She may have come from the satellite hospital and doctor offices in our area.
Just had three thunderstorms in a row, per radar, in the last 1-1/2 hours. We are deluged - my parking lot is literally flooded. Had to be 2-3 inches in the last storm to hit us.
