Hello. I was given the following offer for a 2015 428i with various packages and options, MSRP $52975: price $49575, term 39 mo., rate .0017, residual .61, acq fee $995, cash $2000, gov't fees $702, tax $2006, doc fee $489, monthly lease payment $667. This is an APR of 4.08%, which seems very unreasonable to me, but I'd appreciate some input. The BMW USA website shows a 428i lease for $419 which I think is 0% APR: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/Vehicles/2015/4/428iCoupe/offerdetail.aspx?OfferType=2&namodelcode=154A®iontypeid=2
The base MF is .00130, so your dealer is marking up the MF on you for more profit. Acquisition fee is also marked up the max as well - base is $795.
You can do better ... is there another BMW dealer close by to work with?
Thanks for the info. Yes, there are two others -- waiting to hear back from them.
Unfortunately I'll probably have to custom-order a 428i to make it affordable -- all the ones at the dealerships (including the one above) are way overloaded.
For a custom-ordered 428i, MSRP $46750 (M Sport Package + leather, which is all I want), he made the following offer (no other details given): $588/mo., price = invoice + $500, term 39 mo., $2000 "total drive off" (whatever that means). But when I use the Edmunds calculator, I get $499/mo, based on: $44355 price (invoice + $500), 61% residual, $0 down, 0% APR, 39 mo., 10k mi, $795 acq. fee. I realize that doesn't account for sales tax, title, etc., but still.
Yep, I'm getting $500.82/mo with your numbers and the .00130 base MF. Have the dealer give you the net cap cost - if it's different than the selling price, make them explain how they got from one to the other.
The $2000 drive off probably includes acquisition fee, first months payment, tags/license.
I'm getting push-back from salesmen at two different dealers about whether it's 0% APR in that BMW USA lease deal in the webpage linked above. When I plug the data from that webpage into the Edmunds lease calculator, the only money factor that works is 0. See attachment. Am I doing something wrong?
There is no such thing as 0% APR for a lease .. the base MF has been around .00130 for as long as I've been doing this job - just over 3% when you convert.
The $3000 down is what makes the lease payment attractive. Without it, the payment jumps almost $77/mo (3000 / 39). We don't recommend making any sort of down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

If residual % and MF are standard or non-negotiable, what is there to negotiate other than price?
Sorry, this would be my first lease.
No.. we don't use a lease calculator, just a simple spreadsheet..
The base money factor is set by the bank, but the dealer can mark it up for increased profit. Making sure you get the base money factor and the lowest possible selling price is the main negotiaton. On a lease, just like a purchase, watch out for unnecessary added costs that you haven't agreed to..
Hi, Can you please tell me the latest residual for a 428xi Gran Coupe 30 month/15,000 mile lease?
Thanks!
The best deals this month are on 39 month terms: .00130 MF and 59% for 39/15
Thanks for responding- I have a but of a unique situation so the 30 month or 24 month lease works best for me. Have either of those changed in February from the January numbers?

I've been in contact with four people at all three local BMW dealerships -- three people at the internet departments and a sales consultant. It would be a lease of a custom-ordered 428i with M Sport package and Dakota leather. (The only 4 series on the lots are loaded with tons of packages and options I can't afford.) The three internet dep't guys never even negotiate or actively engage with me. The sales guy negotiated with me, but his last offer was overpriced.
Is there a certain time of year or time of month when there are incentives?
Earlier in this discussion there were references to a holiday credit -- anything like that coming up?

End of the calendar year usually has the best incentives. Hard to predict what the future holds.
I am in Texas, so have to pay 6.25% for entire value. I asked for all costs to be rolled into the cap cost. (Including Tax, Title, Aquisition, Doc fee, etc)
So only thing I pay is my first month payment at delivery, and then pay that same amount for 39 month lease. I am getting 12k miles per year
The monthly payment quoted in this case is $554. Is this a good deal?

What is the selling price? That is the amount the sales tax is applied to. Then, get the net cap cost (with all the fees and taxes rolled in) - this will help us model a payment.
I wanted to know if this is a good deal on a lease: 2015 428i GC MRSP: 47,050 Sell Price: 43,435 36/12K Acquisition fee: 795 Fee & Insurance: 500 Upfront Tax: 78.76 Disposition fee: 350 MSD (7): 3,500 Cash Required for delivery: 1902.12 (not including MSD) Monthly: 489.32 (including tax)

I'm getting $441.61/mo before tax. Where do you live and what is the tax rate?
Got them to lower monthly to $480/month after tax. Seems spot on now. Just curious but how much profit are they getting with this deal then?? Thanks again.

I've never worried about how much profit the dealer is getting, only that I'm getting the sell price and MF I want.
What should I expect in March for MF and residual value for a 2015 435i Gran Coupe (MSRP is $51,650) for 12,000 miles per year? 36 months or 39 months - whichever is currently better.

Hi, I have a quote for 428i GC 36/10K MSRP $48100 Selling price $43290 MSD 7 0 Down Tax rate 0.875 Monthly pay $506 Cash due $4895 (including $3850 MSD, first month payment, and doc fee)
The dealer told me MF after 7 MSD is 0.0012. From previous post, this month the MF for this car is 0.00129, and residual is 64%. So after 7 MSD MF should be 0.0008. With this number I'm getting $469 for monthly after tax. Am I calculating it right? Thanks!

Figure a $795 acquisition fee added into the CAP cost (or maybe $995?), and you get $465/mo.+tax.. or about $506/mo. I used $995, because they marked up the money factor the maximum, so it's safe to assume they did the same thing to the acquisition fee.
If you use the base MF (.00080 after MSDs) and the base acq.fee ($795), the payment drops to $429/mo.+tax, or about $466/mo. So, it looks like your calculations are pretty good.
You can ask for the base rates, but keep in mind.. You have a 10% discount from MSRP.. when invoice is somewhere around 7-8%.. You might not be able to achieve that selling price with the base lease rate..

Hi all - looking for April numbers for 428 gran coupe with x drive. 36 month 12K miles per year. Also if there are any incentives to other time lengths (39, 42 month, etc.) that would be great to know.

hi, thanks in advance for your help. I'm looking at a 2015 435i coupe msrp sticker $53k asking $47k (was dealer demo, w 6k miles) total out of pocket $1033 (1st mo/taxes/dmv/etc) 478/month (+ tax California/ 36 mo/ 30k miles) says 65% residual, don't know MF is this a good deal? i'm not familiar w leasing a "used" car. would the residual be based on MSRP or used price?

The residual is the same as a new car, but then reduced for the current mileage at $0.20/mile.. So, 65% of MSRP minus $1200.
Looks like the calculations are pretty close, considering all the numbers are rounded off.. Base MF of .00129
Seems like a decent deal... Maybe push for a little better.. tell them you want to be under $500/mo. with taxes added (seems stupid, but those are the same negotiating tactics that the dealer uses.)

The $3000 down is what makes the lease payment attractive. Without it, the payment jumps almost $77/mo (3000 / 39). We don't recommend making any sort of down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.
