Sign a drive assumes 35 payments .. the first payment is added to the cap cost, as are all other fees.

Sign a drive assumes 35 payments .. the first payment is added to the cap cost, as are all other fees.

Actually, in Honda's "Sign and Drive" program, the dealer is required to contribute the first payment.

I am looking for a 36 month, 12,000/mi year lease for an 2016 MDX AWD with the Advance Package and no money down. I know the MSRP is $56,120. Residual value is 59% ($33,051) and the current money factor is 0.00020 (0.48%). On the initial quote the dealer showed a $1,000 conquest rebate but said he had room to work with me. When I talked with him a couple of days later he said he could take another $3,000 off the Cap cost. We don't really need the MDX for another 6-8 weeks but want to see if there is a deal to be had if I buy by 3/31/16.

QUESTIONS:
Do you think offering to buy before the end of March (so they can hit their sales numbers) would be an incentive for the dealer to give me a great deal?

Or should I wait another month and take a chance the money factor is not as good in April?

Since the 2017 MDX will be unveiled in New York in a week is there any leverage their?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am not the moderator but my 2 cents - once the 2017 mdx is unveiled and as we get closer to the new 2017 cars getting delivered, dealers will get more and more aggressive trying to clear 2016 inventory (some may sell at a loss). Additionally, Acura may start offering dealers more dealer cash/rebate, etc. On the flipside, the residual may come down (if you are leasing that impacts you) as 2016 is old and worth less at that point. Chances are you will get better deal 2 months later than today but you won't have too much choices in terms of colors as new deliveries on 2016 will stop and inventory will start shrinking. If you don't need the car today, I recommend waiting some time. $1,000 incentive is not too high for a model that is just about to go old. In the past I have seen rebates as high as 2500 (on 2013s when 2014s came out). 2017 will have a mini refresh but the changes will be more than what has changed so far from 2014 models. As a comparison, infiniti is giving 3000+ in rebates/incentives on QX60 for the last several months as the new 2016s just started hitting dealerships this month. People have gotten as high as 9K off on 50K cars. Acura is usually less aggressive but people in So California have been receiving approx 6k off on 50K msrp MDXs (read older threads on this forums) recently so I think even today you do better than 3K + 1K off, especially on the much more expensive advanced package. All depends on what market you are in and how competitive dealers want to be.

Nobody, not even the dealer, knows what will happen to the numbers next month. So, if you like the deal, no reason not to sign.

That said, you might get a few more $$$'s off the price by holding out until the end of March.

No idea when the 2017's will hit the lots. As noted above, there may be a clearance sale of sorts on the 2016's, depending on how much inventory there is nationwide. If they sell or lease enough of them, the deals may not get much better than they are right now.

But, it's all speculation.

If you do a 'sign and drive' the MF drops to .00010. All fees are rolled into the cap cost, and the dealer makes the first payment for you.

Hello. I just left a deposit for a lease and would like to see if it is a good deal of if I should try to get a lower price. It is for the MDX with tech package for 36 months and 10k miles a year. The monthly payment is $460 and includes all taxes. I will just be paying first month and DMV fees when picking up the car.

The gross capital cost is $46005, which includes the $595 acquisition fee and $1427 sales tax. I am trading in a leased car which has $1500 equity that is being applied as a down payment.
