    Hi all,

got this deal today in Southern California...what are your thoughts?

    MSRP $38,159
    selling price $35,490.20
down $2000 (including all fees, taxes, first mo payment) + $500 lease cash
    Residual value 62%
    MF 0.0006999
    tier 1 plus credit

    36 months/15k miles per year

    399 per month including tax

new to leasing a car - any input greatly appreciated - Thanks!

I was under the impression that taxes were assessed on the monthly payment in CA, not up front. I would get clarification of the exact breakdown of the $2000 at lease signing.

With your numbers, I get $399.66/mo if your tax rate is 8%.

Using the numbers you have provided, I get a payment of about $434/mo after tax. If the entire $3000 is being used as cap cost reduction, then the payment should drop to about $343/mo after tax.

    Hi,

I had a 2013 IS250 limited edition with navigation that maturing soon. I just got another new lease of 2015 IS250 with Nav and blind spot detector.
MSRP is $42249, gross capitalized cost is $38678.06, adjusted capitalized cost is $38111.03, residual value is $27884.34, rent charge is $1663.20, lease term is 36 month, monthly payment including tax is $359.99. I have to put down $950 cash including first month lease payment. Is this a good deal?

Below info make me feel the dealership was playing games with me....
They originally promised me for free 5k, 10k, 15k maintenance, but they only put down $15k....and they said now all lexus has 5k and 10k complementary maintenance, no need to ask...is that true? Also originally i only asked for 24 month term, but after i signed, i found out it's 36 month term....does it make difference?

    Thank you so much.

If you asked for 24 months but signed an agreement for 36 months and you have taken delivery, I'm not sure there is much you can do. The 24 month residual would be much higher than the 36 month residual on your contract, but with fewer months, the payment may be about the same.

With the numbers you have provided, I calculate a pre-tax payment of $343.47/mo, so your tax rate must be pretty low to have a total payment of $359.99/mo.

I don't know whether Lexus has complimentary 5,000 and 10,000 mile services.

Overall, I think you did just fine. $360/mo for a car that stickers at $42K is a good deal. Enjoy driving your new Lexus - the pleasure of that will far outlast any issues you may have with the details of the deal.

    Hi Michaell,

Mine is 7500 miles per year. So the dealership did play games with me right....><
I realized the RV is only $1000 lower than my previous Lexus which is a 27 month term....
I still don't understand how they made this calculation if the term is longer, the residual should be lower....

So I did not get a good deal out of this lease right?
    Thank you so much.

I think you did fine ... and, you shouldn't compare the residuals from 2 years ago to the residuals today. Lexus may be inflating the current residuals to attract more customers.

I think the lesson here is to review the paperwork very carefully before signing ... but, you're driving a pretty nice car at a payment equivalent to some non-luxury brands that I've seen.

Could have been worse. When this lease is up, come on back and check in with us before signing anything - we'll help you get the right numbers and a better deal.

    .00170 MF and 59% residual.

Given the lease program, it's not a bad payment. The convertible is just not a very cheap car to lease.

    .00050 MF and 68% residual for 27mo, 15K/yr..

The extra 11,250 miles will reduce residual on a per/mile basis.. Not sure what the number is, though.. Probably $0.20 per mile.

Just started looking into leasing a 2015 IS 250 AWD. First dealer is starting to rub me the wrong way. Their offers seem "off" and every time I ask for the details, they give me the run around. The only good they are at this point is perhaps a little leverage for the other two dealers I'm working with. Anyhow, I basically asked one of these dealers to break down and give me the final numbers based on Lexus' current offer, which is 1499 due at signing and 349/month for 36 months/10k miles

    MSRP: 41,255
    Initial Cap Cost: 39,150
    Rebate: 500
    Down payment: 450
    Adjusted Cap Cost: 38,200
    Money Factor: .0005
    Residual: 65% (26,796)
Monthly Tax: 9% (I'm in PA)
    Monthly Payment: 380.70 incl tax
Amount Due At Start: 1,839.35 (includes all fees, first month payment and the down payment of 450)

How is this for a start? Im looking to work it down from here but was just curious how this deal looks as of right now. Thanks in advance.

You are off to a pretty good start. Those are the correct numbers and the correct monthly payment for those variables. I'd work on a lower selling price. That's really the only place to improve the deal.

I am in Texas. When you said "should be" .0005 or .00075.. do I tell them that's the number I want? So base on your calculation what should I be paying for this lease?

What will the MF and RV be if I want 12k/36 months?

the dealers got back to us, and said. 00075 is the best for the region. however since we are tier 1 credit, the best they can do is point 001. this brings the total monthly payment to be 433 a month. I feel this is still a bit high. Advice?

Just got a quote from a dealer in Texas, doesn't seem right. They are advertising $379/mo for IS250, $0 down, 10k miles a year. Based on MSRP of $37,825

This is the quote I got:
    MSRP Adjusted: $39,694
    Sales Price: $36,694
    Tax: 2,293.38
    License, Reg, Fees: $260.69
    Acq Fee: $700

In his quote he lists 3 residual values, I don't know why. This was almost all done over email.
    65% $25,801
    64% $25,404
    62% $24,610

36 mo term, 10,000 miles a year, $498.96/mo payment, zero cash due. Why so different from the advertisement?

I am in Texas. When you said "should be" .0005 or .00075.. do I tell them that's the number I want? So base on your calculation what should I be paying for this lease?

What will the MF and RV be if I want 12k/36 months?

Lexus has some regional differences... we don't have the numbers for all of them. But, every region I've seen has a money factor within that spread.

    Residual on an IS250 for 36mo, 12K/yr is 64%.

Is adjusted cap the same as the total cap?

Adjusted CAP is the selling price + any additions (acq.fee, etc) minus any money down or rebates.

That's correct... if you are Tier 1, and not Tier 1 plus, the money factor is .00100.

Funny how that changed, once you called them on it, huh?

What is the  MF and residual for a 27, 30, and 36 month lease at 12K or 15K miles per year in Texas?
