MSRP: $64,270 Mileage 2,300 Sale Price: $52,101 Residual: 10K option (63%) = $40,050 (after taking mileage discount out) Cap Cost Reduction: $0 GA ad valorem taxes: $3,829 Dealer Fee + Tag/Title: $786 Acquisition Fee: $925 Total Cap Cost: $57,641 MF (after max. MSDs): 0.00105 (I tried to go for 0.00087 but they wouldn't budge; they instead lowered the selling price.)
Monthly payment: $591.20
Had a 2007 BMW 530i to trade which I used to pay the $3,850 for 7 MSDs + $591.20 first month payment, so $0 out of pocket.
Thanks,
SS
The math is correct.
Ask the dealer how much the selling price would go up to get the base MF? We can run the numbers and tell you which way to go.
They said it'd go up to $54,300. When I pushed, they got the taxes down a bit such that my monthly dropped to $576 and 7 MSDs at $3,500. The $350 delta between old and new MSDs went to cap cost reduction. Got $1,000 graduation credit as well.
$0 out of pocket today. Used the trade to pay for $3,500 MSDs + $576 first month payment + $350 cap cost reduction.
Good deal?
The higher MF actually results in a lower payment.
Looks like a great payment for a $64K BMW, especially given the tax situation in GA.

Congrats! The nice thing is that you'll get the MSD monies back at the end of the lease.
Thank you Michael, this is an offer which I got from a dealer in California. thank you for your recommendation of skipping the down payment. Will go back and ask that, any recommendation of the range of lease price with out down payment?
Keep us posted.
Hi Micheal, here is an updated offer with retails for $67,595, selling price is 60,595.The minimum out of pocket you would need to be $2,235, which would put monthly payment at $764.41. Let me know your thoughts
How many miles per year?
What is the breakdown of the $2235?
12,000 miles/ year. The minimum due at lease signing covers your first months payment and fees (Gov fees and Acq fee). So $28,989 total out of pocket expense for the lease.
Using those prices, along with the base MF of .00134 and the 36/12 residual of 62%, I get $656/mo before tax. Assuming a tax rate of 9%, the payment is $715/mo.
Ask to confirm the adjusted cap cost - if different from the selling price, find out what's been added. Alternatively, the dealer could be marking up the MF for extra profit.
Hi Michael, Here is another offer. I am not corporate fleet discount is included. Not sure

Hi Micheal, Both of them are lease offers. All the California dealer don't what to reduce it any more than 7000-8000 MSRP. Does the math add up for both. For the second option I accidentally put the purchase option breakdown to get the MSRP and selling price
Hi...can you please tell me the Nov Money factor and Residual for a 2016 535 xdrive 36/15k. Also, list is $68,000...what would you consider a fair discount given leftover and change to new platform soon? Is there any dealer cash or incentive? I have the loyalty $1000 and the fleet of $1500 of a car. Thanks! Im in NJ.

.00134 MF and 60% residual
I'd shoot for 10% off, then subtract the incentives.

CA taxes the monthly payment, so the tax amount for deal 2 is incorrect.
Hi Michael, Thank you for confirming the 1st lease $$ looks correct. We keep going to the second car dealer as they have the car we want , as you mentioned in the earlier post the second deals $$ don't look right. Can you please confirm for 61,861 selling after 7,200 discount with MF 0.00134 and residual value of 62% what should be the lease for 36 months/12,000 miles for zip 94506 ?

The two variables in a lease are the MF and the cap cost.

If this is for three years, it's about $200 more than I calculated. Some sort of fee being added?

My calculations were $470/mo; your quote was $476 - $6/mo for 36 months is $216.
Went to dealer in GA who has (many) 2016 528i RWD limited edition. Original MSRP $53,745, Internet $45,681. They gave me another $1,000 for Loyalty. Final $44,681.
I know this is a "good" deal but they would not budge at all on any other pricing. I've been seeing this same car at many dealers with just a few thousand off. I figured since there are so many of these in the city and them being 2016s that there could be more discount (especially as I am their returning customer)? Should I try to price shop or is this a case of Take it now!
Also, the Owner's Choice vs leasing is very confusing and it just seems Too good to be true that OC works "just like a lease" but you don't have to pay the tax upfront or twice, should you want to buy at the end of the term. My out of state friend (the numbers guy) said it just sounds fishy and that he never recommends ballon payment loans. But said to ask you guys I know only GA, TX, and IL have the OC so any insights would be very helpful.

OC is specifically set up for states like GA, TX, MD, etc., where the sales tax is applied to the entire price of the car on a lease. The car is registered in your name, rather than the banks. So yes, should you decide to buy the car out, you don't pay tax again.

Thanks!!
OC is specifically set up for states like GA, TX, MD, etc., where the sales tax is applied to the entire price of the car on a lease. The car is registered in your name, rather than the banks. So yes, should you decide to buy the car out, you don't pay tax again.
What makes these a "limited edition" 5-series?
Can't hurt to price shop at other dealers.
Thanks, Michael

$0 out of pocket today. Used the trade to pay for $3,500 MSDs + $576 first month payment + $350 cap cost reduction.
Good deal?
The higher MF actually results in a lower payment.
Looks like a great payment for a $64K BMW, especially given the tax situation in GA.

Thanks Michaell. Appreciate all the help that you and this forum provides! Day 1 with car and loving every bit of it. :-)
Congrats! The nice thing is that you'll get the MSD monies back at the end of the lease.

Hi Michael,
Here is another offer. I am not corporate fleet discount is included. Not sure
MSRP: $67,170.00
Discount $5,702.00
Selling: $61,486.00
$2,399 drive off
36 months / 12k
$691 + tax
Money Factor: .00134
Redidual amount: $41,645.00

Does the math add up for both. For the second option I accidentally put the purchase option breakdown to get the MSRP and selling price
Does the math add up for both the offers?
I'd shoot for 10% off, then subtract the incentives.

CA taxes the monthly payment, so the tax amount for deal 2 is incorrect.

Thank you for confirming the 1st lease $$ looks correct.

2016 528i Demo with about 5,000 miles.
Premium package, luxury line, heads up display, multi contour seats, heated seats, smart phone integration, glacier silver. MSRP 60K, sale price... $47,895.
Payment $2K down - @ 12,000 miles year which includes doc fee, first month, registration, etc. Payment is $470.00. Money factor is marked is marked up a bit.
Before adjustment, I get $411/mo before tax, using the base MF.
$1250 for the miles adds about $34/mo, so $445/mo before tax.
6% tax takes the payment to approximately $470.
Looks like a solid deal.

i thought it was 68%/63%?
MSRP: $64k
Sales Price: $49k
Cap cost reduction: $0
Acquisition Fee: $925
Miles/yr: 10k
Residual: 58%
Months: 36
MF: 0.00134
Monthly Payment (w/ tax): $445
Drive Off: $5k
(first mo payment, 7x msd, reg and doc fees, tax, acquisition fee)
is this a good deal? I feel as though I want to push for another 2-3% off to sweeten things, what do you think?
What would max MSD's bring the payment down to?
36/10 residual is 63%

The 13K miles takes $3250 off the calculated residual.
64,000 * .63 (36/10) = $40,320 - 3250 = $37,070
That is a great payment for a $64K car.

Your help on this is much appreciated.
Went to dealer in GA who has (many) 2016 528i RWD limited edition.
Original MSRP $53,745,
Internet $45,681.
They gave me another $1,000 for Loyalty.
Final $44,681.
36/10k with MF .00134/Res 63%
Owners Choice (residual $33,859):
$537/mth ($0 down)
$421/mth (All fees/taxes upfront $3,931)
Lease
$568/mth ($0 down)
$469/mth ($3,269 taxes upfront)
I know this is a "good" deal but they would not budge at all on any other pricing. I've been seeing this same car at many dealers with just a few thousand off. I figured since there are so many of these in the city and them being 2016s that there could be more discount (especially as I am their returning customer)? Should I try to price shop or is this a case of Take it now!
Also, the Owner's Choice vs leasing is very confusing and it just seems Too good to be true that OC works "just like a lease" but you don't have to pay the tax upfront or twice, should you want to buy at the end of the term.
