Relative to MSRP, the payment looks strong.

What is the adjusted cap cost?

Thanks for your swift reply! adjusted cap cost is $52,500 - $2,500 = $50,000. Do i have any room to bargain down?

Where are the taxes and fees in your numbers? Are you paying those up front as well, or is the total out of pocket the $2500?

Sorry for the confusion! $469 monthly payment includes NJ tax (7%), but I still have to pay acquisition fee $925 + DMV and doc fees which I will pay when car is picked up. I don't know how they apply MF and residual % on an 2016 demo 535i Xdrive , would you help to clarify? Thanks!
  • njspiker1njspiker1 Member Posts: 4
Also what's the October MF/Residual for 2016/2017 535i Xdrive 36 month/ 12K miles/yr. Is it better to lease a 2016 or 2017 model? Please advise! I live in NJ. Thanks!

Better discounts and higher residual on 2016's, this month.

    Hello,

Newbie to this forum and BMW leasing here. Not sure if this thread is still active, but I was hoping to get some advice on the below deal, best time to lease and double check the current MF and RV on a 2016 BMW 528i M-Sport.

I am being given the below numbers from a local auto broker:

    MSRP: $56,345
    Sale Price: $51,095
    Money Factor: 0.00136 (3.2%)
    Residual Value: 65% ($33,211.75)
    Acq Fee: $925
Down: $3,000 includes Title, Doc, Reg and First Month
    Term: 36 Months
    Mileage: 12,000 a yr
    Mo. Payment: $542 w/ tax (9.25% - California)

***If I include additional Security Deposit of $3,500 (Refundable at Lease End), Mo. Payment drops to $494 w/ tax***

Any direction is helpful. Thank you very much!

.00136 MF and 65% residual are correct.
Looks like the $3000 covers the acquisition fee + $1000 for CAP cost reduction.

It's a good deal. How does the broker get paid, and how much?
I think you could have negotiated this on your own.
I would definitely do the multiple security deposits.

If cash upfront is an issue, you could do it with $1300 due at signing, and $3850 of deposits (7 X $550), and end up with a payment around $549/mo. ($5150 upfront, instead of $6500. $3850 back at lease end vs. $3500)

Thank you kyfdx for the response.

I feel like I could of more than likely negotiated the same deal myself as well honestly. I've seen quite a few people manage to get closer to 10K+ off the MSRP of same/similar models.

The broker mentioned he gets paid $250 by the dealer once the deal is done. Not sure how accurate that number is as this is my first go with a broker.

I'm really interested in keeping my Mo. Payment down.

Should I have him go back and see if we can knock anything additional off the price?

I am looking to lease a 535i in FL with a MSRP of $67050 for 36M/12K. I have never leased before so trying to determine how this works. I have a trade that I owe $16676 and they are giving me $25,100 plus discounts of $3571 and rebates of $2000. Is there a way you can determine what my payment should be? Thanks

    .00136 and 65%.

If I discount the MSRP with your information, I get $640/mo before tax.

We do not recommend using the trade equity to buy down the payment - that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled. Use to pay your up front costs, then have the dealer cut you a check for the balance.

    Good evening,

    I'm looking to lease a loaner 2016 535i with 2k miles. MSRP $64,270 and Selling price $54,999 for 36 months @ 10k/yr.

    1.  Is selling price good? If not, what should I target? 20% or something else in line with the year 1 depreciation per BMW depriciation schedule?
    2.  Can loaners be leased?
    3.  If so, do the new car MF and residuals apply? If not, what are the numbers? I plan to pay MSDs.
    4.  Other than the acquisition and documentation fees and taxes, what other charges are necessary?
    5.  Can you please elaborate on your recommendation above for not buying down the payments with equity? What happens if you don't have any cap cost reduction but the car gets stolen or totaled?

Thanks you so much for your help!

    1. Looks pretty good. Read back through the last page or two of the discussion to see what others have negotiated
    2. Yes
    3. Yes
    4. DMV and dealer fees, depending on where you live
    5. There is a GAP plan that would pay off the rest of the lease obligation; any cap reduction would be lost.

Thanks you so much for your help!
.00136 and 66% 1. Looks pretty good. Read back through the last page or two of the discussion to see what others have negotiated 2. Yes 3. Yes 4. DMV and dealer fees, depending on where you live 5. There is a GAP plan that would pay off the rest of the lease obligation; any cap reduction would be lost.
Thank you very much Michaell. I'm going to see what November #'s come out to be and pull the trigger soon. Will keep you posted.

    Looking to lease a 2017 X5 x-drive 3.5
    MSRP 66,795
$5,009 discount takes it to 61,786.
    tax and tag $134.56
    Admin fee 539
    Lease fee $925
    0 down

    7 MSD's takes MF from .00136 down to .0087
    36 month/36K mile lease would be $844/month
Sure sounds high, although the discount sounds reasonable.

    Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I'm not committing today. Going to wait and see what November incentives there might be.

I am getting a lease offer in NY (as of Oct 31st 2016)
528 Xdrive, premium & cold weather package.
    $ 58,875 MSRP; $ 52,500 sale price
    Lease 36 months, 12,000 miles
    $ 515 monthly lease; $3800 down.
Is this a best, ok or bad deal?
If this is ok or bad, what would be a better deal in this case?
Any advice will be very helpful

The numbers have changed, as of today.

    .00134 and 62%.

Using your MSRP and sale price, I get a payment of $564/mo.

What does the $3800 cover? I'm guessing that about $1800 of it is cap reduction, as your payment is lower than mine.

65% residual. I don't know the rate; I didnt ask
What he really gave me was $515 monthly and $3800 taxes and fees

So is it good bad or ugly ?

Without the adjusted cap cost, it's hard for us to say.

That looks like a regional ad, not an offer.

Skip the $3500 down - that money would be lost if the car is stolen or totaled. And, you should be able to negotiate a better price than what the ad assumes.

    How many miles per year?

What is the breakdown of the $2235?

12,000 miles/ year. The minimum due at lease signing covers your first months payment and fees (Gov fees and Acq fee).  So $28,989 total out of pocket expense for the lease.

Using those prices, along with the base MF of .00134 and the 36/12 residual of 62%, I get $656/mo before tax. Assuming a tax rate of 9%, the payment is $715/mo.

Ask to confirm the adjusted cap cost - if different from the selling price, find out what's been added. Alternatively, the dealer could be marking up the MF for extra profit.

    Hello Michaell,

    How does this look?

    2016 BMW 535i with M Sport (Demo)

    MSRP: $64,270
    Mileage 2,300
    Sale Price: $52,101
Residual: 10K option (63%) = $40,050 (after taking mileage discount out)
    Cap Cost Reduction: $0
    GA ad valorem taxes: $3,829
    Dealer Fee + Tag/Title: $786
    Acquisition Fee: $925
    Total Cap Cost: $57,641
MF (after max. MSDs): 0.00105 (I tried to go for 0.00087 but they wouldn't budge; they instead lowered the selling price.)

    Monthly payment: $591.20

Had a 2007 BMW 530i to trade which I used to pay the $3,850 for 7 MSDs + $591.20 first month payment, so $0 out of pocket.

    Thanks,

    SS

    The math is correct.

Ask the dealer how much the selling price would go up to get the base MF? We can run the numbers and tell you which way to go.

They said it'd go up to $54,300. When I pushed, they got the taxes down a bit such that my monthly dropped to $576 and 7 MSDs at $3,500. The $350 delta between old and new MSDs went to cap cost reduction. Got $1,000 graduation credit as well.

$0 out of pocket today. Used the trade to pay for $3,500 MSDs + $576 first month payment + $350 cap cost reduction.

    Good deal?
