I was talking to a friend of mine who is about to sign on a 24 month lease for a Malibu. His reason was that he doesn't want to wait 3 years before getting a new car. I used some of my American education research skills (I did a google search) and it looks like there big drawback of a24 month lease is that you are paying the same fees every two years instead of three, and the depreciation percentage is higher in the first two years, but that there are less maintenance costs and less risk of needing to replace tires and such. What are the other pros and cons of a 24 vs 36 month lease? Does Kia offer a 24 month optima lease, and if so, what is the mf and res for the SXL in California. Does that change the 4000 lease cash offer? Thanks!

You summed up the advantages/disadvantages pretty well.

But, most makes don't have good terms for 24 months. You wouldn't want to lease for 24 months, no matter what. Kia isn't bad, though.

The payment calculator on Kia.com suggests there's a $7000 lease cash incentive for a 24/12 EX lease until 9/6, but I couldn't see it referenced anywhere else. Also - does it stack with the $2500 customer cash?

With $1500 down, $2,200 drive off, and dealer discount of $3,700, im getting payments of around $170/mo.
With 8% Orange County, CA Tax included.

However no dealer has come close to this. Everyone has come back at me with payments around $270-$300 per month. One did come in at $200 per month. But it seems like the "$8000" Lease cash just dissapears, and is just a gimmick.

Can you explain why im getting these numbers from them?

Maybe the dealer discount of $3700 includes purchase incentives that go away when you decide to lease?
Ask for the adjusted CAP cost, and see how it differs from your calculations.
