Considering 3 years / 30,000 miles Mercedes Benz Star Service Prepaid Maintenance on C300 4Matic for $975

    1) What is the prepaid maintenance:
    (a) Invoice price
    (b) Lowest price negotiated
    (c) Target price?

    2) Is it better pay the entire amount for Prepaid Maintenance up front at lease signing or to add the Prepaid Maintenance fee to the Cash Sales Price and capitalize this fee?

    3) If yes, then why?

Thank-you in advance for your assistance on this matter.

Hello - Can you please provide MF and residual for C300 coupe for 36/12? Are MF and residual different for coupe vs sedan?

Hello and thanks for being so helpful.

Could you please tell me the MF and residual for c300 4matic coupe for 36/12 in Georgia and Illinois? (sorry my drivers license is Illinois but I live in Georgia so i'm not sure which it will go off of)

Also, with the 2018 models coming out, is it best to wait to lease the 2017? Wont the residual value go down? Or is it best to lease a 2018 when they come out?

    Thanks again

    Numbers are national

Residuals are likely to decrease as the year continues. And, inventory will shrink, so you may not get the colors or options you want.

Hard to predict what the 2018 numbers will be, when released.

    1. No information on pricing
    2. Recommend you add the cost to the cap cost and residualize it.
Why is adding it to the cap cost and residualizing it the best option? I must be missing something, but someone on another forum says if the Residual Value is 60%, you are only paying for 40% of the maintenance plan. But I thought the only way thats true is if the maintenance gets added to the MSRP, since thats what is multiplied by the residual %.

    IE MSRP 50k, cap cost 45k, and residual 60%. Depreciation = $15k (45k-30k) divided by 36 months = $416.66.

If cap cost goes up 1k for the maintenance plan to 46k, depreciation is $16k/36 months = $444.44

The only benefit I can see is if the car gets stolen and you dont lose out on the money up front?

@currie33 We've heard from some of our members that the maintenance plan was added to the MSRP and residualized on their deals.

    Not always, though.

Sorry for the double post but I have 2 deals I can choose from:

    C-class 4matic coupe

Option 1: Brand New - Premium Package 2 and Heads up Display

MSRP $53,325, cap cost $47,825 (including last 2 payments of my infiniti q60 lease and disposition fee for a total of $1,500), MF .00001 (started at .00068, but I am putting down MSD's to get it there, and apparently Mercedes wont go lower than .00001) Residual 56%. Acquisition $795 and dealer fee $349.
    Payment = $568.75

Option 2: Retired Loaner Car with 3,800 miles on it - Premium Package 2

MSRP $51,200, Cap cost $45,000 (including last 2 payments of my infiniti q60 lease and disposition fee for a total of $1,500), MF .00001 Residual 56%. Acquisition $795 and dealer fee $349.
    Payment = $520

Basically its an extra $50 a month for a heads up display which is effectively costing me $1,800 when it only should cost $995 as an installed feature. And it was an executive loaner so it isn't brand new. Do you think they adjusted the price adequately for the mileage? Are either of these ok deals?

Also confirmed that Mercedes will add the price of the pre-paid maintenance to the MSRP and they also up the residual by "1 point".

I'd want a better deal on the loaner. It's basically just $500 bigger discount than the new one.

What is the amount due at signing on the two deals, other than the MSDs?

Just curious how you came to the $500 figure so I can go to them with that.

As for whats due at signing, don't have the specific amount but it would be first months payment, title and license. I'm rolling the acquisition and dealer fee into the lease.

Please note: You don't pay that tax amount upfront in CA. The monthly payment is taxed, so that's not part of your balance.

    36/10 Lease
    C300 Sport 4Matic (AMG Package) - Premium 3 Package
    Demo car with 8,300 miles

    MSRP $52,310
    Residual $31,015
    Selling Price $43,800
    Acq Fee $1,095
    Tax $3,655
    Fees $393
    Out the door $47,837

First Payment: $924.75 (first month payment, fees $393, upfront taxes $15)

Monthly Payment: $516 (I think this includes tax)

Acquisition fee is marked up from the base of $795

61% and .00108, less the per mile deduct on the demo miles. Not sure of the rate, likely .15-.25 per mile

What state is this, that collects the sales tax on a lease up front?

In Illinois (not Chicago). With the exception of the Acq Fee, does everything else check out? I need guidance on figuring out if this is a good deal, since they're unwilling to budge on the selling price. We spent 3hr "negotiating" today and they only knocked off $700..

They're using a MF of .00108 and Residual of 61%.

IL taxes the sum of the payments, not the total selling price.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost; that might help clear the air on the payments.

Is that what you signed for, or an offer?

    If the former, congrats!

If the latter, what was the selling price? Breakdown of the $1400?

I'm confused - what number is the dealer basing their payment off of - the $46,457 or $47,837?

The second set of numbers look to be more oriented to a lease quote (capped taxes looks about right, and there is the acquisition fee accounted for).

    .00108 and 61%, less, I think, .25/mile for the demo miles ($2075)

Need to know the true cap cost to run the payment.

That didn't answer the question you asked - ask them, specifically, what the adjusted cap cost is. Their answer should be a number. If they continue to be opaque, it's likely time to find another dealer.

You've got to use the adjusted cap cost, not the selling price. The acquisition fee has to be added to the selling price if you're including it in the payment.

And, you quoted the selling price as $44,651 - why are you using $43,151 in the calculator?

    OK, that makes sense.

But, if you aren't paying the acquisition fee up front, you have to add that $795 back into the selling price. Is there a dealer fee? Add that in, too.

Ask the dealer to bridge the gap between the selling price and the adjusted cap cost.
