Looking at a 2017 BMW X3 Xdrive lease 36/10. Car was a loaner and has 4800 miles - Quoting $37,900 - Original base sticker $43,900. Dealer is quoting $1500 down and $435/mo including taxes. Located in 94520.
We would be turning in a 2015 X1 lease 5 months early.
I'm new to this so looking for help if this is a good deal or what questions I should ask the dealer at this point to get more information. Thanks in advance.
1. What is happening with the 5 remaining payments? 2. .00152 and 64%, less $1200 for the loaner miles 3. Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost
1. BMW has indicated that they will cover 3 of the remaining 5 payments, but I believe I can get them to cover all 5 during upcoming negotiations at the dealership. 2. How is the $1200 for the loaner miles applied? (is that reduced from the residual value?) 3. The adjusted cap cost was provided at $36,895.
1. Good luck 2. Yes, the $1200 is reduced from the calculated residual.
What is the breakdown of the $1500 due at signing?
Attached is the quote from the dealer. Do you think I can get a better deal on the monthly? I'd like to keep the down payment at $1500.
Does BMW offer a 48/mos lease on an X3 ? I have a trade in with a lot of neg equity that I’m looking to space out. Thx
They do, but the terms are extremely unfavorable.
Can you hold off and reduce or eliminate the negative equity?
I could but I would think that the longer I have the car the less the dealer would pay and I would still have the large gap. I’m selling a 2012 GLK in fair conditin but the neg equity is quite high.
Eventually, the rate of depreciation will slow, while the loan balance will steadily decrease, which will close the gap on the negative equity.
I don't think I will get approved on a lease and I need to get out of my current car with neg equity. Would you know what the 12, 24 and 48 mos residual would be on 10k miles ? I'm trying to get a rough idea on where my balance would need to be on a purchase at these points if I were to sell and not have neq equity. Thanks

Not sure what you are asking? If you can't get approved on a lease, what good would the residual percentages do for you?
I'm assuming the residual on a car is applicable whether its leased or financed. So if I finance ( borrow ), I'm trying to see, if looking at an amortization table, that my balance would be close to the residual at a certain point. For example, using the 64% for an X3 on a 36 mos, if the residual on a 45k car is 30,150, I would want my balance to be that when figuring in principal and interest...trying not to be upside down again.

Sorry, it does not work the same way for a purchase.
The residual values are set by the bank in order to achieve a particular payment - often, these values are higher than the true market value.
But - this isn't a problem for the bank (having the true market value be less than the residual value from the lease at the end of the lease term), as the bank has insurance to make up the difference.
The best way to stay right side up on a purchase is to:
1. make a large down payment 2. stick with a brand and model that retains its value well
need help to taste if this deal is sweet. msrp 48,195 due at signing 3000 (includes upfront tax, first month, and all fees) monthly $400 36month/10k miles ny state. nyc, purchase oct2017. i dont have the other details.
what details should i ask for? this is not a loaner car.

.00152 MF and 64% residual
Ask for the selling price and adjusted CAP cost. Also, ask them to disclose the money factor used.
Looks like a good deal on the surface. Lease program ends at close of business today
msrp 48,195 due at signing 3000 (includes upfront tax, first month, and all fees) monthly $400 36month/10k miles ny state. nyc, purchase oct2017.
he gave me the money factor .00152 and 64% residual $30,844
Assuming the $3000 is completely consumed by tax, acquisition, DMV fees and first payment, the price would have to be about $41,300. Guessing there is a rebate in there somewhere, but either way, that's a great price.
yea, they paying 4 months, and disposition fee $350, the dealer where i purchase from. i am past due 4 days till they find the car. he said i have 10 days grace period.
the deal was for a new car and now it became a loaner as of oct 23 with 28 miles. hopefully its low when it arrives.
i had another deal at another dealer. same thing, msrp was close, 47,795. $3000 due at signing (tax, first month, fees) told me high $300s 36/10k, got there told me $418 said it went into the loaner status and cant go lower. he said he cant do anything. finally got $408 and 1 year unlimited car wash at my location choice. but only paying 3 payments and end up finding out it has 600miles. called to cancel. called original listed offer dealer and told them to beat it, their original offer was 3200down, $465 a month. didnt counter, just walked. giving them another chance to make it right. from my original dealer i get free unlimited detailing...... and yes! 3hr umlimited detailing not car wash.
he locked in the rates .00152 and 64% and if tomorrow there are better rates they will switch, else keep todays rate.
please update the rates for nov 2017 ny. hopefully thanksgiving will lower my payments, and low miles else im stuck with 4more month till the 2018 x3 will comedown in price, but probably not close to what im getting, or go with the cx5.
first deal 2011 bmw got a great deal end of month, then next day, monthly dropped $10 a month. so having this safety net to look forward and compare and take cheaper of the two is awesome.
should i negotiate on the "used" car / off loaner? our deal is depended on the miles and condition. for example, take addition $.50 off each mile above 28miles as of oct 23 for depreciation and wear and tear ( brakes/tires) no longer included in service.
msrp 48,195 due at signing 3000 (includes upfront tax, first month, and all fees) monthly $400 36month/10k miles ny state. nyc, purchase oct2017. he gave me the money factor .00152 and 64% residual $30,844.80
so instead of $3000 due at signing, i told him first month and dmv fees. it came out to be $485.62. i added $550 maintenance package since brakes and wipers are not covered in the 2017 warranty.
485.62+70+10+87.5+6.66+221.88 =881.66 due at signing the 221.88 is tax i paid on the rebates?

- Are there any rebates available? - Current vehicle is 2009 328i...any loyalty discounts? - Initial offer (via email) from dealer is $46,985 (MSRP $51,020). Seems like discount should be better considering the 2018's are here?

That's 8% off MSRP, which isn't too bad. No rebates that we know of. No info on loyalty, either.
I bought a service loaner in September with 4400 miles and my price was 15% off MSRP - $1000 lease rebate - $1500 X3 loyalty (traded in a 2011 X3). 0%/72 mo. financing on service loaners that month, as well.
Don't know if any of that is still valid, though. I didn't know about the $1000 going in..
Ask the dealer what incentives or rebates you are eligible for, before counter-offering.
They are quoting 58664 for a fully loaded X3, and theres a dealer discount of 2000 plus corporate discount of 500. The monthly is coming to 685 with 3500 down. MF is 0.00192 and RV is 64%.
I think this is not a good deal for sure. What should I push for to get this to a good deal.

The $58,664 is for a purchase, not a lease. The money factor is marked up from .00152 The discount is very small for a 2017 model.
This is Washington. Forgive my ignorance, will the MSRP be different for lease and purchase ? Should I even be working on this deal and negotiate it or just leave it and look for other dealership ?

The MSRP will be the same, but the 'balance due' number will be different.
Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost - that is the number used to calculate the lease payment.
You want to target a selling price of about $51,000
I read somewhere that when I lease the vehicle, I dont have to pay for the sales tax on the vehicle cost, but only on the lease amount per month. Is that correct ? If so, the quote given by my dealer has got the tax on the car value included , which should be wrong. Can you please clarify ? Also, thanks a ton for responding to my queries.

In WA, you pay sales tax on the payment, monthly. Any CAP reductions or rebates that are paid upfront are taxed upfront.
Most dealers aren't very forthcoming in their lease quotes. On the document you posted, it says it's a "Purchase Quote" (as I noted in my first reply).

What is the mileage allowance? You'll have to deduct $1000 from the calculated residual to account for the miles.
