Can someone look at these numbers for me. I was told these were based on .00152 MF and 64% residual, 10k miles, 3k down. Thanks.
1) $1300 discount is not enough. You should be shooting for 6%-7% off MSRP. 2) That looks like the sales tax on a purchase, not a lease. Doesn't LA tax the monthly lease payment, rather than collect tax upfront? 3) No mention of the $925 acquisition fee 4) They show $500 rebate for the lease. Does that mean you don't get the $2500 rebate shown above?
To check the calculations, we need the actual adjusted CAP cost, and an itemization of how they got to that number, and a payment with the sales tax broken out.
.00152 MF and 64% is correct for 36/10, but all you have is their "word" for it.
Thanks, I asked for an itemized because didnt seem to add up however I ran it. Could you take a glance at this one from another dealer. Residual = 64%. Money factor = .00192

1) Looks like 11% tax on the payment, is that right? 2) Also, it looks like Line 21 is just for informational purposes, as the tax is collected on the payment 3) Out of the $3000, $599 for the first payment, $339 for upfront fees, and $1786 for CAP reduction. That leaves $275 unaccounted for, but we'll chalk most of that up to tax on the CAP reduction. 4) Discount is not quite 6% off MSRP, but not terrible. 5) How come no rebates from this dealer?
The calculations are correct. You want the base .00152 MF. That would lower the payment to $514/mo.+tax, or about $570/mo. (vs. $599)
This looks really bad to me. Outgoing model, only 5% off with a $1800 cap reduction, 36 months / 10K per year, no negative equity - $571 per month? They're marking up the MF, but even without that this isn't good. I would never sign this deal. Just my opinion...

Yup... With that discount, you should get the base rate, at least.
Looks like a typo in the "How the amount due at signing will be paid" Should be $3000.00 paid in cash, not $2428.31
Got an offer on a lease.
BMW X3, 10K miles, 36 months, California registration
MSRP: 44550
Gross Cap: 39020
Adjusted Cap: 37440
Monthly payment 380 incl. tax, 1120 out of pocket for DMV fees/first payment/drive off
Thoughts? Thanks!
Looks great! What is it, that lowers the adjusted CAP? Rebate?
X3 28i new vehicle has 100miles in odometer MSRP: 52045 selling price: 47800 rebates: 1500 + 1000(loyalty) price after cap cost reduction: 45300 upfront fees and taxes: 2780 Residual: 33308.30(64%) Monthly: $483
is this a good deal? Should I ask the selling price to $46000? Or take the deal?
I agree with the math on the worksheet, but I'd restructure the deal with only the first payment and DMV costs out of pocket. Roll the taxes and fees into the adjusted cap cost.

Thanks Michael. I will make the deal with by rolling in the taxes and fees.
I just wanted to see if what is considered a good deal? Push the selling price to 46000 before the rebates is considered one? I read that 10% off Msrp is considered good, but not sure it is before or after rebates.

7% off minus rebates is good, and you are already beating that. It never hurts to ask for more, but you have a good deal.
Thank you for all your advice. What do you think of this deal in Southern California for a 2017 X3 for 36 months and 10k miles:
MSRP 49,895 Residual 64% Cap Cost 46,150 Adjusted Cap Cost 44,846 Cash Down 2,000 Money Factor 0.00162
Monthly cost 483 With tax 527
MF seems higher than what other have quoted, but cap cost appears to be 6-7% off MSRP.
Thank you in advance.
It appears that your CAP cost includes the $925 acquisition fee. If so, then your selling price is more like 9.35% off MSRP. ($46,150 minus $925)
I get the same payment. .00010 is a pretty small markup to the money factor. Adds $7.68/mo. to the pre-tax payment, or about $300/mo. to the total deal.
Have you looked for a service loaner? You might be able to save substantially, if you can find one that has under 5000 miles. (I just bought one. )
What I don't understand in this calculation is that the sale price is 46,150 and the gross cap cost is 48,318. Minus the 2k down and 1.5k rebate, we have a adjusted cap of 44,846.
I know that gross cap is sale price plus any fees, but in this case it seems that the fees are $2,168, which seems like a lot. Am I wrong?

Is $2000 the total amount due at signing? If it is, then you have to add the first payment to the Gross CAP. Also, tax on the CAP reduction. ($3500 X your tax rate) $925 acquisition fee About $500 for DMV/doc fees.
And, we don't recommend cash up front - just the first payment and registration costs.
I think there is room to improve on this.
Thanks Michaell.
How would you go about approaching the deal to negotiate a better price?
Correction on my above numbers..
Gross cap is $51325 Cap reduction is $48375
Thanks, Joe
First, politely tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF is marked up.
Second, tell them you only want to put the first payment and DMV costs up front - this will increase your payment, but decrease the risk of losing any other up front monies if the car is stolen or totaled.

7% off sticker, before applying any incentives, is a good target for BMW.

Yes, you should. If they become reluctant to be transparent, that should tell you it's time to start working with another dealer.
Are the last two items normal? I don't seem to see those fee are being tax...
That's all normal.
If they didn't tax acquisition and doc fees, then they would drop the price of the vehicle by $10,000 and charge $10,000 for those fees, taking $900 of state tax out of the deal.
