And you can lease a demo/loaner with less than 5k miles with no effect on residual or MF?

There will still be a deduction of $0.25/mile from the residual for the current mileage.

    Ok so take an msrp of 53870 x .64 = 34476 then subtract 1125 (4500 miles x .25) and the final residual is 33351?

Also, if it is a 36/10 lease do I get 30k miles on top of the 4500 for a total allowance of 34500 or just 30k total allowance?

    Thanks again

Your calculation of the residual value is correct.

You get 30,000 miles on your lease - since the car has 4500 miles on it, the odometer reading at lease turn in cannot exceed 34,500 miles.

Thanks for the quick reply. I read elsewhere that the mileage deduction is for any miles above 500 so if it is 4500 miles would it actually be 4000 x .25? Not a huge difference but it's something.

    Not reading that correctly.

If the car has more than 500 miles on it, all miles are deducted at .25/mile.

Therefore, if the car had 499 miles on it, there would be no reduction in the residual value.

Is there a good target for % off msrp on a BMW loaner? Is 15% off reasonable for a loaner car with 4500 miles?

Same target as a new car, minus the residual reduction + something more off... Otherwise, why lease a loaner?

I have a fleet employment program, 2000 dollars off. But all dealers in the Bay Area said they cannot take it on top of a negotiated price. Is it normal?

Not true - negotiate your best price, then subtract the $2000.

Also, the fleet program gets you a discount of .00020 on the MF - the adjusted MF is then .00131.

Every BMW dealer in the Bay Area have told you the same thing?

I'm in NJ....what is the MF and Residual on a 24mo, 10k lease?

Also, are these numbers the same for leasing new and pre-owned? For example, with the 3yr lease and 64% residual, if the car with 1000 miles on it had an MSRP of $60,000, residual would be $60,000 x .64 = $38,400 - $250 for miles = $38,150 adjusted residual. If the cap cost of my lease (price + fees + taxes) is $50,000, am I only paying for $11,850 + Money factor over the lease term?

    .00151 and 70% for 24/10.

Pre-owned is different from service loaners or demo vehicles.

    But, your math is correct

And, 64% is either the 24/15 residual or the 36/10 residual. Under the second scenario, the lease payment will be much smaller, as there are more months to spread out the depreciation.

    Hi all,

I am looking to end my current BMW lease early (6 months) and enter into a new lease. I am 1k miles over my limit for my existing lease ($0.20 / mile = $200 value), for which BMW is offering to forgo the charge if I enter into the new lease. The new lease would be a loaner X3 with ~5k miles as follows:

Seems fairly run of the mill in terms of pricing (no real incentives other than ending my current lease early and forgoing charge on excess miles), but figured I'd see if anyone has any input. I do anticipate incurring ~$1k in costs to fix some damage to my current leased car, so perhaps I could somehow work this into the negotiation.

    Thanks so much in advance!

Where is the $925 acquisition fee?
    Which state?

If you are over on miles, is 10K/yr going to be enough?

Re acquisition fee, it seems the math works as follows: (i) cap cost of $45,850; minus (ii) trade in allowance of $1,750 (this must be for the excess miles - perhaps I could use this towards damage instead if under on the miles); plus (iii) acquisition fee of $925; equals the cap cost I indicated above of $45,025.

    This is for NY state

We went over on miles b/c my wife was commuting long distance, which she will no longer be doing :)

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Any suggestions what a good/great selling price for a loaded 2017 X3 35i  loaner would be?  It has 4600 miles on it. MSRP $61.5k asking price 53k. So asking about 14% off sticker. I know residual is high this month so have that in my favor in terms of lease (minus the mileage discount), but the bottom line purachase price seems like they could do perhaps a little better?

    Thanks!!

We don't track pricing - we've suggested 7% off sticker, plus whatever discount you think the miles are worth, for a demo.

14% seems strong, but if you don't ask for more, you don't get more.

Thank you for the comments regarding pricing!

Would you mind telling me what an appropriate lease payment would be assuming selling price of that X3 as is with 4600 miles.  Here's what they gave me so far. I haven't dug into it yet, but I think they may have marked up the money factor.  They also have not told me yet if this includes tax.  Apologies for not having a full set of info (yet).

I'm in MA. 36 mo / 12k miles. Top credit tier.

    MSRP: $61,645.00
    YOUR PRICE: 53,992.00
    LESS: $1000.00 rebate
    DUE AT SIGNING: $1,119.33
    MONTHLY PAYMENT: $687.00

    Thanks!!!

    .00151 and 63% for 36/12, less .25/mile for the demo miles ($1150)

With the prices given, I get $628/mo with 6.25% tax included.

Yes, MF is marked up, or other fees are being added in (acquisition fee, dealer doc fee).

Mountain view. I don't care how they calculate. I just said I would spend 16500 in total.

Interesting way to negotiate. Your total payments come to 16,900. Plus you will have to pay $350 at the end of the lease.

As long as they don't give you some loaner or demo with some miles on it.

Certainly saving about $2000 over the lease deal they advertise on the BMW USA site.

I forgot to mention, package 3.
the new x3 has changed the design.
so not so many ppl like the 2017 ones I guess.

Package 3? Only packages BMW USA site lists are thinks like Premium, Luxury, Drivers Plus, etc.

2017 is the last model year before a new design. The 2018 model will feature new body style and engines I believe.

And 2018 models are due in November.

I am in Louisiana and met with a dealer for an 2017 X3 on a 36/10. I've ran the below numbers through multiple calculators and before i push back with the dealer i want to make sure i am not missing something. The payment seems to be way to high with the numbers they provided me. I am not putting anything down other than first month plus relevant fees, registration etc.

The base MF is .00151 for BMW, this month, so I don't understand the .00001 MF you quote.

You should target 7% off MSRP, before applying the incentive

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, after the taxes and fees are rolled in.

Almost 13% off is a good selling price - not sure you can do any better there.

I do not see any reference to the $925 acquisition fee - I'd ask the dealer about that.

Also, ask for the adjusted cap cost, and how they arrived at that number from the negotiated price.

Last, we do not recommend any sort of cash down on a lease - roll the taxes and fees into the cap cost, but only pay the first payment and DMV costs when you sign the contract.

    Thanks Michaell,

Looks like MSRP is actually 49771 which gets down to around 9% discount off MSRP. This is a loaner car with few thousand miles on it.

The dealer is using MF of 0.00171. Is it too high. As per this data, how much do you expect my monthly payment should be?

    Thanks

Good Afternoon! Would love an official set of eyes. Looks like I'm only being offered 2.4% off MSRP. I think the math checks out (plugged into one of my spreadsheets)...? Thanks so much!

Looks like they left the sales tax out. Otherwise, how would the Gross CAP be $51,800?

Appreciate the response. I wasn't sure how gross cap was calculated. In NY, so 4% tax. I fell like this is really high and I am missing something...?

Need feedback on the below lease terms on if my calculations are off. I will be putting up first month + registration, fees etc.

    36 month/10k Miles/year Lease
    MSRP: $45,995.00
    Sales Price: $42,000.00
    Residual: 64% ($29,436.80)
    Tax Rate in Louisiana: 9.75%

They are telling me the payments are around $529 when based on my calculations using the base lease factor of .00151 I get around $501 with tax.

I don't think your tax rate in NY is 4%.
You are correct.. not much of a deal. Expand your search to other dealerships.

Add the $925 acquisition fee and re-calculate.

I'm closer to your payment than the dealers.

MF markup seems to be the likely explanation. Politely tell them you won't sign a deal where the MF is inflated.

You're right. It's 8.75. I need (and think it is fair) for it to be in the 500's and want 0 down.
